What I love about Mephalis is that he wastes no time using his fatal laser beam move upon being awakened, the same one he used to kill sonic in 06 during the last story. He was so ready to just kill and be free
Mephiles is easily the best one. I hope he comes back somehow. Possibly with the mentioned Sonic 06 remake. Mephiles is the best villain in the Sonic series.
Honestly I feel like Mephiles and Devil Doom could easily switch places, NGL. The doom morph section was kinda difficult to get the hang of but once i got the hang of it, i found out you could practically skip a good chunk of the platforming in devil doom phase 2, always satisfying to do
I wish you had elaborated on your process for ranking these bosses, particularly how you approached the hard modes for each one. Although I understand that in Sonic Generations, the hard modes don't dramatically alter the gameplay experience, it would have been interesting to hear your perspective. Nevertheless, I found your video to be really enjoyable, and I agree with most, if not all, of your placements for the bosses. Having played the Sonic 06 on the PS3, I can confidently say that I strongly agree with your assessment that Mephiles stands out as one of the best bosses featured in Sonic Generations. His design and mechanics truly make him memorable.
I just played all of them a few times and wrote down the things that stood out to me. I haven't tried the hard mode for Shadow Generations yet so maybe that's for another video. Thanks for the compliments!
Ngl all the shadow generations bosses besides the biolizard fights are better for me. The only sonic generations boss I actually enjoy doing is the dragoon one. But the rest of the shadow generations boss's i actually enjoy replaying
The best part about boss fights is seeing how flexible or how you can experiment with them (a good example of this is Kraid from Metroid Dread) and to add on to Mephiles already being a good boss fight, he is that experimental boss, during the phase where he turns into the giant shadow monster, you can use Chaos Control to avoid the laser entirely and still hit him, then rinse repeat. It’s a really fun boss fight.
@@masturch33f66Pretty decent except for the Mach speed sections and I skipped the ball puzzle using a bug, level design is good but the controls aren’t that great, there are some bugs that either help or are just funny, and it was fun overall (just remember to mash A/X for Silver and Omega since holding the button is less efficient)
@@Ghostmnm I was considering getting 06 since I love the aesthetic, music and story of the game. Obviously 06 is infamous for being horrible but I heard people over exaggerated the glitches. Do you think it’s worth getting?
Personally, I agree, only I think the best Sonic Generations boss is Metal Sonic. Silver being close behind, but neither surpassing any of the Shadow generations bosses (especially not Mephiles that fight is so fun even though the doom morph is my least favorite ability in the game) but they’re fun. I’m not a real big fan of any Sonic generations bosses aside from Metal Sonic and Silver honestly
the way they handled Mephiles and Crisis City and Kingdom Valley honestly makes me wish they'd just remake all of Sonic 06 in the style of Shadow Gens. I actually liked Sonic 06's story -- minus the kiss. It's just the Cell Saga from DBZ! Seeing it done well would be awesome.
@@sonicsupremacist Given how similar Sonic 06 is structured to the Adventure games, and how much people have been calling for a new Sonic Adventure, and how you can't even buy and play Sonic 06 anymore, it'd be a great opportunity to give a lot of people what they want while also fixing the series most infamous blemish. Plus, what if it turned out *REALLY* good? Can you imagine if Sonic 06 went from the worst game in the series to the best?
Anyone else wish they brought the generations 3ds bosses to sonic x shadow generations? It would've been cool to see big arms and egg emperor in the console version
How is it fair for Sonic to boost through an entire stage, but it's not fair when Silver tries to keep up with him by teleporting, on the 3DS version? Sonic knows Silver can't boost, and Silver tries to be fair by running at the start of the stage, but Sonic decideds to boost instead of running at normal speed like Silver, so that makes Sonic a cheater as well. 🙄
you know I agree with almost this whole list except for the mephiles boss at number one I don’t really agree with that only because I’m not that big of a mephiles guy I would’ve put him in five on my list great boss still on my top five though and again I’m just not a mephiles fanboy personally metal overlord is my favorite boss in shadow generations and perfect chaos Is my favorite boss in sonic generations and I understand people got their own opinions and that’s OK😊
I don’t really get the love for the metal overlord fight. I’m not saying it was bad, far from it in fact, but I think it was the weakest of the boss fights in shadow gens.
@@HaydenPrometheus45 not really, it was really just hitting the left and right bumpers. And sometimes jumping, bout the same difficulty as any other fight.
@sonicsupremacist true be t that goes for many classic fights you can keep bouncing on them untill they go down and win like in chemical plant or hilltop zone the only really hard boss was the death egg cause his hit boxes.
I never played any of the first Sonic Generations versions, so the one with Shadow Generation was my first (but I've seen a bunch of videos). For the most parr I was fine with the bosses in Sonic Generations, but I agree the Shadow rival battle isn't all that exciting. And Time Eater... well, at least now I know it has a homing shot attack! They only needed to tell me about 200 times for me to understand. For real tho, it's probably one of the most boring final bosses I've ever fought. I really wished they used the 3DS fight. Perfect Chaos was kinda mediocre for me to be honest. Egg Dragoon was fine but he just used his ice shots for like 80% of the time when I fought him, got old pretty quickly. About the Shadow Generations bosses, I'm a bit torn. On one side I think they're all spectacular and cool but I gotts be honest, I do not like the Doom Surf sections. When you try to do multiple actions in sequence, it just doean't work properly and it drove me quite mad during the Metal Overlord fight, which is also a bitch to get S rank on. I'd love the fight much more if Doom Surf didn't control like shit. For the same reason I also wasn't the biggest fan of Devil Doom, with some of his later attacks being really obnoxious to dodge, paired with the drifty Wing controls. I just wished you were able to use Shadow's normal moveset more during bossfights and not be forced to use Doom Surf / Wings. On the other hand I really loved the other 2 bosses here, Mephiles also being my favourite. I think they're over a bit too quick but that's not a big issue. Anyways I'll stop rambling now
Metal overlord is one of the lamest bosses in this game. All the directions they could've taken it and its a simple gimmick fight that gets redone better later on.

Agreed
As a person who’s never played 06 or known much about mephiles, I can say he had at least a top 2 best boss fight in the whole game
Mephiles is easily the best one. I hope he comes back somehow. Possibly with the mentioned Sonic 06 remake. Mephiles is the best villain in the Sonic series.

The Mephiles fight literally was the reason I bought Sonic 06 in 2024 just to see more of him
How is Sonic 06 honestly

@Ghostmnm there are rumors about them wanting to do a remake of 06.

Call me crazy, but the Time Eater is actually my second favorite boss just behind Devil Doom.

Yeah, it would be cool if they remade Sonic 06, and it would make sense because it's such an infamous game. I think it would actually sell well.

Yeah, I can see why people don't like it. It focuses a lot on one gimmick, but it's a fun gimmick in my opinion
