  • Toxic people in relationships -- also family relationships -- can truly be difficult to live with becuase it isn't always easy to spot them.
Have you ever wondered how to understand the person in your life who refuses to get professional help -- even though it is clear they need it?"
I think we have all been there.
A relationship where this exists can be scary, confusing, and even traumatizing.
Some people are very unstable, manipulative, unhealthy, and maybe even cruel but deceive a lot of people because psychoticism and neuroticism can be difficult to spot.
In this live chat, I discuss how to spot psychoticism and neuroticism in family relationships.

This was very helpful. I experienced a lot of that aggressiveness from my parents when voicing different views than theirs. I was put down and ridiculed a lot. In hindsight, this is maybe why in the past I struggled with feelings of anxiety when trying to assert boundaries with other people and making my own decisions. The other night I was on a video call with them so they could see my daughter. It was time for her bedtime routine and I was struggling to tell them I had to get off the phone. Luckily I caught myself and told myself internally I had a right to stick to my child's schedule. I could definitely see some of those traits in my parents. Thank you for this info.
PS: I would like to see how to survive in a toxic family. We're going to need those skills to deal with difficult people in this world because our culture seems to be going in a negative direction when it comes to interpersonal relationships between people.

I'm glad this was helpful. I'm just sorry about the volume, not sure what was wrong tonight!
But it sounds like you do know much about these personality traits. It does take time to get to a place of confidence with these people. There is a lot of trial and error.
And how to survive a toxic family is coming up live very soon.

Reading a lot of comments on here, I see these toxic family patterns have a lot in common. For me and my siblings, it has been a very painful journey realising our parents weren't who they pretended to be. The realisation is very important though for our psychological survival.

😯You sharing the story about a former client with those dark contemplations (and how it motivated you to do this channel) lets me know that mental health professionals DO NOT have it easy, at all. I wonder how you decompress appropriately.
I commend you for staying in this field of unpredictability as it relates to clients. We You Tube viewers appreciate you👏👏
Thank you for another learning session. Wish I could have stayed in the live but I will catch the next one.

Thank you so much! I appreciate your perspective on this. It's very hard to decompress and most psychotherapists retire before retirement age because of this! Prayer, education, staying informed, meditation, self-care, coping skills, and a passion for the work all move me forward. ☺

New account but I’ve been following you for a long while and I just wanted to say thank you. I truly appreciate your strength and Godly wisdom that you share on such “taboo” topics. Being so straightforward and wise to their (evil people) ways must get you some nasty msgs from toxic people so I’ll always take a moment to thank you to counter balance the pushback you might be receiving. THANK YOU ❤❤ Much love

I am a new viewer but I’ve been watching your videos since around last week or so. I am an introverted person and have had an experience with psychosis but honestly I find hard to believe I would do such things as described here especially because my father is the narcissist and I have been traumatized since 5 by him although I couldn’t see quite exactly then but could sense and feel it but later on in age realizing it what really was going on piece by piece. I was 27 when finding out and I’m 28 now. But I absolutely love and appreciate your videos a lot! And I even mention them to my therapist. For right now I mentioned about the emotional age and trauma time line.

You got to be careful who you listen to with delusions. Addicts and weaker people don’t even have a good memory. Like literally they won’t remember my jobs or roles. They also will be fake to you and then gather others around lieing about you online. That’s more evil to me and stupid…a lot of them have been in prison too

I will take that as a compliment. Thank you! So many have asked me that since I was a child and I try to break it down in an understandable fashion. lol
My family is very diverse and we have a mixture of culters in our blood starting with Northern African and Native Navajo roots. We all take on different looks. But as far as being from another country or region, no. From the US. But I wish!
