Every single time I watch your videos, I learn something unexpected. For example, I didn't know for clearest vision, eyeglasses reign supreme. This is huge, as I no longer have FOMO for not trying contacts. You are amazing, thoughtful and you explain things really well. Thank you.
Contacts were good for me up until recently when I went to order more and saw that price 😮. Made the switch back to glasses and my eyes (and wallet) feel much better
I think the biggest take-away from this is that everyone's circumstances are specific to them, and the "best" solution is whichever works best for the patient. For myself, I don't have any of those advanced conditions you speak of--just general presbyopia--and I get the best clarity with monovision contacts. I recognize that my experience may not be typical, and that's the point--there are some generalities, but at the end of the day, everyone's experience may or may not fit the general guidelines listed in the textbook.
You are my favourite UA-camr ever ,I always feel reassurance when i look at ur videos because I always stress about my eyes ,keep up the good work 👍✨❤️
Thank you for presenting the pros and cons of wearing glasses or contact lenses. I prefer to wear glasses because I'm not too coordinated when it comes to putting in contact lenses. And I think I look nice with glasses.
i wore glasses for around 7 years for myopia but they recently started giving me headaches, i tried changing the prescription, the frame, adjusting it… nothing worked. I have been using contacts for two months now and it has been a game changer. I do feel some discomfort towards the end of the day but it’s mostly solved with a couple of rewetting drops.
I wear Multifocal contacts and it corrects my level of presbyopia the best. I don't get the clarity with my progressive lens glasses as with my contacts. Progressive lenses definitely take some getting use to.
I have always had astigmatism with blurry and double vision. I wore hard lenses in high school and found it strange that my lazy I would straighten up when they were in. Then in my thirties I tried soft lenses and could just never get used to them. 6 years ago I had an iridotomy done on both eyes and I wouldn't use contacts again. The one thing I miss about contacts is the peripheral vision. I stay with glasses now that I'm almost 50. I wear sports goggles when I work and they have saved my eyes a lot of times. One thing I would recommend when buying glasses, is to ask for them to order a new set of frames and not take the ones that are in the store on display. I have always had problems with expensive frames snapping in the bridge or the hinge with the display frames. I believe too many people pull on the arms and twist to show that they Flex. Recently I ordered from VR wave lenses for my Quest 2. I hope that it makes my VR experience more enjoyable. And wanted to say thank you for the 5% discount.
Good evening ! I am from indore and work in the software industry. Recently, I had 1.25 addition power lenses made for both my eyes using Verilax Liberty progressive glass. However, I did not feel comfortable working on the computer for long periods of time, so I switched to intermediate lenses, which work better for me, but without the added power. I have a question regarding Eyezen lenses. Is it possible to customize them to include only intermediate distance as well as our own add power of 1.25 from Rx prescription into their lens? I am looking for a computer lens with an added power of 1.25. Please advise if this is possible.
@DrEyeGuy thank you! love your videos. i do have dry eyes... and now presbyopia, and I keep wanting a contact lens option, but maybe I have to just resort to glasses.... sigh.
I've never cared to use contacts, I have some hang up about putting them on my eyes. Perhaps a lingering effect of having three eye surgeries as a yong child.
Dr. EyeGuy, I have a question. I've been wearing contacts for about 3 weeks now (about 4 to 5 days per week). The problem I'm having is that after wearing them for a few hours my eyes start feeling dry and get a little blurry. I have to keep using re-wetting drops. I use Opti-Free drops. When I get to about 8 to 10 hours of wearing them it gets even worse and I'm having to use the rewetting drops more often until it's just unbearable and I need to remove the contacts. Are my eyes still adjusting or do you think there is a fitment issue? I've tried several brands but found that the most comfortable ones for me are the Alcon Total 30 lenses so far. Thanks!
hard to say..... I have had patients that had these symptoms, and we ended up needing to try the dry eyes more aggressively to make it so they could wear their contact lenses longer.
I have plus4.25 in my os and plus 1.75 in od. I have tried progressives and couldn't get used to them . tried bifocals and cant get used to that. do you think contacts can help?
Glasses always left the dreaded red marks on my nose and the indentation. Back in the day the contacts were fitted to your eye and your vision, not so much now. Kind of one size fits all - argh. I don't like the soft lenses. they bend or flip in the eye. I'm now waiting for another hard lens to see if we can get it fitted so I get that crystal clear vision that soft lenses don't provide. It is extremely annoying. Many times I just don't bother with the soft that I have because I don't get much improvement, so I'd rather not wear them at all.
7:36 could that distortion cause ghost/false images? As in you think you see something out of the corner of your eye, you turn your head to look, then there's nothing there. Prescription is approximately a -5 in both eyes, with esotropic strabismus.
Hello sir. My eye sight is+5 , i am using spectacles from 15 years, still I am not able to select suitable spects size. I think due to small or medium size spects frames, i am not feeling well while I am reading books. Due to this reason I think, i backwardness in studies. If i wear contact lenses I am feeling good, and i can able to focus on studies perfectly. But due to side effects of contact lenses I am not using contact lenses. If i use spects, i am not able focusing on studies 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. Can you help me sir, please🙏🙏😭 , how to overcome this problem. Please
If you don’t have any specific needs, then, if you look sexy with specs, go for specs. If you look ugly with specs, go for contacts. It’s as simple as that.
I just dont understand why do people dislike glasses , glasses make people look intelligent theres nothing wrong with them , surgery is also amazing , but contacts are the worst piece of shit 💩 product
I actually switch between both contacts & glasses

Contacts are big time expensive i got a quote on daily lenses for a year 700$ plus the eye care exam

Exactly. Awesome comment!

Wow! Thank you so much!
Loving the videos! Keep ‘em coming
Thanks Dr. Chism!
Switched to contacts after 30+ years and since I’m into cosplay, it’s more convenient. I got rewetting drops for occasional dryness. I’m happy
Lasik eye surgery ftw
But also i have astigmatism so glasses 👓 Excellent quality glasses from zennis can be as low as $18!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm glad the VR lenses worked out for you!
I want to rebuy my glasses but they always fall to my nose, it’s making me rather be a little blind since I don’t know how to fix the issue

Yes it is possible to make that type of lens, and I could see that working really well.

It's very possible to have enough of a distortion to cause abberations of light to make you think like you saw something.

For a pack of six 30day contacts is 140 bucks in my case, granted, my prescription is in the 1% so they are very custom made
Honestly both are uncomfortable for me..😅
