I don't care if this is bad or not. Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers is one of his best works since Fantastic Four and Secret Warriors. I know I need to read Avengers and New Avengers.
To each his own! I thoroughly enjoyed this run, loved the whole hyperion-Thor bromance, and it had a whole lot of holy s### moments for me. This was during a period where a lot of things were happening concurrently, Iron Man was infamous Iron man, Steve was aged rapidly, Thor was unworthy, Spidey was superior spidey. So all in all, I found it fantastic what he was able to do.
Hickmans Fantastic Four was one of the first runs I fully read and I loved it it has some of my favourite moments in comics in it, this run to me has the same highs and lows the stakes are the highest they could be and I love it.
Dropped a LIKE but not watching, as not read the Hickvengers yet but recently picked them up. Only heard good things. Will aim to return once I've tackled it myself 🙂
My only real gripe is that secret wars wasnt what i thought it was but apart from that i personally loved the run as it tackled its sci fi themes well enough while being an entertaining team up story
Seeing a Maddogg vid in my feed always cheers me up after a long crappy day. I'll give this a watch later tonight. A idea I'd like to see on the channel is how to understand the complete DC comics timeline. If anyone can do it you can mate ha ha😋
I’m enjoying your vid! Interesting thoughts and cool art. This run is on my tbr list. I love Hickman’s SHIELD run. And his awesome New Mutants volume one is surprisingly funny ✨✨✨✨✨
I agree that this run may have been overly ambitious. There may be a few too many plot threads. That said, I’ve never enjoyed the Avengers so much. Usually not my jam. I read both omnis over a couple of weeks. It usually takes me months to get through one. Doesn’t quite live up to Hickman’s Fantastic Four.
I really like Secret Wars. I only wish that the same characters from Avengers and New Avengers were the main ones. I love Star Lord and Spider Man, but they didn’t have much to do with the main story up until that point.
Great video, very balanced assessment of the strength and weakness of this run. For me, I think Steve and Tony are a bit deconstructed too much - towards the end they are almost unrecognizable. But maybe that’s Hickman’s point, see how too far ego would drag normal humans towards the extreme.
Aww yeah a new video from the Maddogg himself. I totally agree i felt this run was great but not the super awesome best story ever told. Hickmans FF run i liked way more. Some parts really drag out but it hooks you.
I tend to agree with you on this. I was severely underwhelmed by this run. It felt like it went nowhere in the end. Easily Hickman’s weakest Marvel work.
You know every time I click on your video you seem like you really don't enjoy certain comic book stories that a masterpiece or the very popular ones fans really enjoy. All I see is you complaining about everything 😂 lol.
This was NOT an Avengers book. It's Hickman's masterplan but they didn't know where to do it, so they slapped an Avengers title on it and put a few disparite characters in it. Told us everything was important and in the end nothing really was. So nice ideas, but really, a load of crap.

I like the whole story but New Avengers>Avengers

Marcus, I need that Radiant Black/Massive-Verse video. Could be a review, discussion, or a How-To-Collect. I Think it would be awesome.

100. So many good “segments” in his series. But that’s what they felt like, segments.
I like this run mostly but ut like felt more like all setup for Secret Wars. Does not really feel like a story.
I Actually Have This Comic Book Right Now As I'm Watching This Video
I tend to agree with you on this. I was severely underwhelmed by this run. It felt like it went nowhere in the end. Easily Hickman’s weakest Marvel work.
You didn't mention Avengers World Complete Collection for the full experience. Might have been why you didn't like the second omni...
These stories are just awesome. But I hate rhe avengers run unless its directly going into the New Avengers story line. its so uninteresting
there's no bloated. its all peak

Hot take I don't like hickmans fantastic four
You should do coding tutorials
peter-man
I didnt like these 2 omnibus either, it wouldnt end fast enough!

Made Avengers relevant. This is supposed to be the A-Team of Marvel like the Justice League of DC... This was a great read!
Didn’t enjoy anything of Hickman Avengers to be honest found it so boring along with his FF haven’t enjoyed the Avengers since Bendis NA run.
