Even I understand it now... Cheers Dan.
Then I have achieved my goal... :)

Hi what carb should I use with the new casa x1 200 sport kit with a jet 200 gearbox and a jl3 exhaust 25mm or 28mm
This explains a lot about what was happening to my P225E back in the day!
Very very cool video. Brilliantly made and brilliantly explained. Cheers Dan.
Already smashed the like button before it had finished. Wish I could go back and do it again.
Brilliant video, very informative and interesting 👍🏼
Tremendous video and vital information- thanks
Really interesting, graphic depictions are worth a thousand words
Interesting and informative, thanks!
very informative thanks for taking time to explain , now i've to measure my port timings n scratch me head some more
Great topic to know about...
Great info Dan, I have an SX with a Mugello 225 kit on it and a stirling expansion exhaust and quite honestly love it. Is it the fastest, nope, but it has endless grunt and sits around 70 nicely not getting hot at all.
Well explained Dan. I've always said it's a waste of time putting an expansion pipe on a std engine 😊
Excellent video and for a brief moment you mentioned the black art of port timings, will there be a vid on that cos that's where I have absolutely no clue!!?
It's all in the pipeline! :)
Iv just brought a px 125 with a stupid pipe ... Won't pull 4th gear 😂 you answered all my questions.
I've toured on my TS1 225 Annihilator, Li150 Italian gearbox with Franspeed Race on 4.8 : 1 final drive ratio (17x48) and it does quite well, it still pulled 4th no problem but with a bit of work between the gears climbing the Austrian mountains though it had no trouble accelerating upwards in the right gear. I'll be changing that to 4.9 : 1, mostly because the new clutch kit I've got is 46 teeth and I've got a 16 tooth front sprocket. Hopefully better acceleration but still tour-able.
Great explanation Dan .
Cheers Nick, there's actually so much more to say on all of these topics, but you have to draw the line somewhere. This video was 20 mins long and I left so much out! lol
@@drunkmunkey6969 keep telling us about it
Yes nice video when did you get into scooters ?
Good video Dan, what was the final drive ratio recommended for the Clubman with the TS1, you mentioned it for the other pipes, not the Clubman. Cheers Simon
What about jog pipes vs dirtbike pipes? I build motorized bicycles and am trying to get my 69cc 2 stroke engine to run with enough rpm to make 50mph I run a reed valve and mikuni vm18 carb. If you have any questions I'd be glad to answer them!
So what brand was used on the expansion exhausts ? Good informative vid 👍🏻
These were the old Chiselspeed ADS pipes, but i think they have been superseded by the CST range now.
Hi, have you ever wrapped a pipe and tested it on the dyno ? Would you recommend wrapping expansion chamber exhaust? Cheers Jack
Great video, great explanation but as a newbie just starting my adventures into scootering I have no idea which exhaust is which! I'll stick with stock for now! 🤦 For future reference is there any guides for beginners?
if you have Vespa, you can choose Polini Box or SIP Road 3 for stock engine.. It really pulls at low to mid RPM
Great video
Iv got a rt 230 and have to use a 50 slide to sort bottom end have you ever had to do this? Cheers
Only when the atomiser is an AV268. What’s the rest of your carb settings?

Hi Dan I’ve got a SX 200 I’ve taken the old Indian top end out and the 22 jet x car out ,I’ve gone for a BGM 225 kit and on your recommendation fitted a 30 Dellorto carb what would your choice of pipe be , it’s running a Scootopia clubman at the moment I want to keep the classic look thanks 🤔🤔
SIP club sport would suit it
Simple: choose your cylinder then your exhaust and finally the gearbox.
In your opinion, Dan, is a basic and old school iron 200 stage 4 cylinder with Asso-Werke piston (without skirt) is tuned enough for an expansion or a clubman is a better option?
I know this sounds vague, but it depends on what gearing you run, what carb you run, how big you are, what passenger/luggage loads you may carry, etc, as to how you perceive the results of fitting it. It also depends on which expansion and which clubman you compare/use, the choices are huge. Engines are best built as a 'whole package'... everything else is a compromise of sorts.
@@drunkmunkey6969: 70kg plus luggage, full frame scooter, Italian GP200 gearbox, 47/18 sprocket, either 22 SH2 scootopia or Mikuni TM24 carb, depends of exhaust but Scootopia or MBGM V1 clubman exhaust available in the shed for the moment.
@@TheModernVince that is a really good setup as is, I'd be tempted to fit the Mikuni carb, the BGM exhaust, and also try a 19 tooth front sprocket at that point.
good evening I have a px 200 with polini 210 gs piston 30phbh carb very well adjusted + reed valve vforce 4 with an Polini original box exhaust what do you think of this configuration,
an expansion is not likely to reduce my current performance or should I go to a box of type BGM bbs or sip road xl viper thank you for your advice and your very explanatory video
It depends a) how it rides now, and b) how you want it to ride. Combining a 30mm and V-force with a Polini box exhaust seems strange... but does it work for you? If not, then yes you may have to change exhaust.
@@drunkmunkey6969 yes it works but up to 6500 rev it stagnates, good torque below which arrives early but I feel that it could give more but I am afraid that with an expansion I will lose my current generous torque good for short distance but in a straight line and long road it becomes annoying. With a reed valve it is absolutely necessary to combine it with an expension thank you for your answers
PS sorry for my writing I live in belgium and my english is a little eratic
@@giuseppegreco5455 I think with a reed valve and a touring-based expansion chamber, you will see the best of the engine.
@@drunkmunkey6969 ok thank you so i will try the sip road xl viper it seems to me to have better ground clearance than the bgm bbs again thank you for your advice a pleasure to watch your video
Used to laugh seeing scorpions and PMs on standard P200s, sound nice but useless in a breeze
