Man, what a knife, absolutely beautiful!! As far as the grind it should have a convex grind on it!! The boxes a lot of these late 90-early 2000 blades came in was called the Bobcat Box, just t knife box with a Bobcat on the front of it.

That piece is a real thing of beauty, my friend. One of the nicest looking hunting knives I’ve seen in awhile. Cheers!

What a cool piece of history! It’s almost impossible to find knives of that era in almost new condition. That should be a great knife for you to use for your bbq this summer! Get that green egg smoking!!

I love Marbles knives. I live in Escanaba, Michigan. Which is the sister town of Gladstone. I live literally 2 miles from the original Marbles storefront.

The one I have is from 1915 as it has "pat pending" stamped on it. It has a leather wrapped stag handle, and the small 3 3/4 handle. I don't have the sheath for it. That's a great find, my friend. Thanks for sharing it with us, Pete!

I think it’s worth it. Especially if you really love it. It’s a beautiful piece. Enjoy it Pete. Don’t worry about the box since you are keeping it. Who knows you may find one down the road.

That blade shape is beautiful, not a knife that is seen every day, sometimes when you see something you like you have to get it, there is value in that.

"Around 1915, Marble made what some consider his greatest contribution to outdoor cutlery, the Woodcraft sheath knife. While Marble never gave him credit, a hunting writer named George W. Brooks claimed to have designed the first Woodcraft in 1914. The wide, upswept, 4-½-inch, flat-ground blade was his version of the perfect big game and trapping knife. Modern hunters will automatically question the length of the 3-¾-inch handle, but this was intentional on the part of Brooks. He felt the proper grip when field dressing was to choke up on the handle with the base of the blade between your fingers. In any case, buyers must have questioned the length of the handle too, as, over the years, Marbles steadily increased its length. One strange side note to its history is that it was once the official sheath knife of the American Boy Scouts, from 1933 to 1940." From a Field & Stream article.

That's a very cool knife you got there, I like the shape of the blade. It's very pretty. Too bad it didn't come with the original box, though. Thanks for sharing and Cheers!

Older Marbles knives are awesome!!! I have one from the 30’s or 40’s w/ a bakelite end cap/ pommel. I need more of the vintage models. Great video Pete love all of your vids! BTW, I live in Michigan, have my whole life.

Thanks, JerseyKG, for the share of that quite attractive Marbles hunter/skinner fixed blade. As the old joke goes ... most of the damaged boxes of merchandise that "fell off the truck" are discarded. 😂 But look ... if you like the knife, and you plan to keep it ... AND you paid $250 for it (insert Gibbs back.of.the.noggin slap here) ... what's the matter, capisce' ? Kudos BigJ. See ya soon JerseyKG 😊.

Pete, before you take the strap off an easy fix if it doesn't bother you is to glue on a piece of strap leather onto the inside on the current strap leaving it short enough to be able to snap it shut. The extra thickness of the strap will fill that gap around the knife. The knife is a beauty.

Wow i love that Piece... I wouldnt changed the loop in terms on making it smaller...I would Add a leather strip under the male piece of the button to fill the void. I love that Blade shape. See how they 2piece the stag to make it more uniform thats different...Looking at that looks like Mike Stewart made that. I would have bought it even without the sheath or box its a beauty.

That's a really nice looking blade! That sucks about the loop on the sheath, but it looks great. Hope you are having a great day!

Love the blade shape it's a beauty , looks like you could solve the retention strap issue, $250 sounds reasonable to me i mean they must be few & far between in as new condition for it's age... Nice one Pete 👍

I don't know anything about that knife but I can tell you that continuous curved blades cut better then straight blades. There is always a shearing action going on that slices faster. Along with that nice thin grind that knife is gonna be one heck of a user. I do see the stick tang in front of the guard. It narrows down quite a bit so I would only use the knife for cutting. You found one beutiful knife Pete. If it was me I would have to test it out first in the kitchen. It looks like a bucher knife for use in the field on large game. A fix for the snap may be to remove the bottom half of the snap, make a new hole and move it over. This is probably better then trying to remoe the rivet that holds the strap on.
