- (Enable closed captions) Howdy folks! It's been more than a month since the last "Tuten" update, and in that time, she's not been driven much tbh, in fact there was a spell of about 2 weeks that the car didn't even move from its parking spot. And yet, without any fuss, she stared up on one crank. I'm thoroughly pleased as punch about that!
It puts paid to what I've always said, that a properly sorted car will continue to serve its masters for a long time. On that subject, here's a little ramble (moving pod-cast) on what's the difference between Restorations and Rebuilds, hope you enjoy it! :)

the tuten is looking elegant by the day . I agree with you that when doing a restoration .. the moment the heart gets in the way ..the pockets gets deeper .
Thanks bud!! You mean NEEDS to get deeper, hahaha! Mine are shallower than a parking lot puddle...😆
Just got my newly painted old car last week and I'm so excited. Called it a restomod as I did some changes on the outlook making it more "garang" with lowered springs. The money spent is really beyond its value but It's a car passed down from grandfather to my father and I drive it now. It's also the only manual car in my family so I love it. (Thankfully, I don't need to travel for work so no frequent traffic jam in the car)
P.S. it's my first time hearing about the # so I used it in my post announcing the return of my car LOL
Nice!! Tq for using it bud, haha!! Nice job on the restomod, that's actually the subject of my next in-car podcast!!😃👍🏽
@@ChrisWeevilGarage Looking forward to it
Great vid, I have a 2002 210, love it.
Thank you!! Yeah, these are still really good cars to own and daily-drive 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
The car is looking good thank you for saving this car ✌🏾
Thank you bro!!🙏🙏🙏😊
Lovely Tuten! Great advise & insights on restorations. #giveoldcarsasecondchance!
Thanks LK!! Nowhere near as nice as yours buddy 🙏👍🏽😊
Looking Great! Always enjoy yr videos Chris.
Thanks bud!!🙏😊👍🏽
HAHAHA the e30 steering wheel un-wrapping cracks me up eveytime. I revist the video now and then.
300k views, howwwwww?!?!?? Hahahahaaaa😆😆😆
Thanks, Bro for the good and very useful advice.
You are most welcome, thanks for watching!!😊👍🏽
Well said bro. Nice explaination
Thanks bro, glad u liked it!!😀🙏👍🏽
Good insights 👍🏼
Thanks bro!!😀😀😀🙏
Chris, do let us know when you plan to let this tuten go
Will do bud, there seem to be a lot of interest in this car, more than any other in Weevil Garage!😃👍🏽
Im doin RM12k restoration not rebuild for my RM8k car on engine & suspension and i'm happy with it even that car brand is consider not desirable in Malaysia. For me all car is special.
Nice one!! Yes that's all that matters bud, if it makes you happy, it can't be that bad... 😉 👍🏽
I just send my 91 Saga aeroback mega valve last year for a full restoration paint and replace body part like door n roof cause it has a cancer rust on it and the costs to restore the car is Rm 6,500 the price is more than the value of the car which is 5K.. Damn🤣 But i do that because i love the car and have no planning to sale that car.
Yep, if it's a keeper, then whatever spent is worth it, as long as you're happy, and it sounds like you are, so it's all good 👍🏽😀
hi chris
what are your thoughts regarding the w140?
Love it actually, the absolute last of the big Mercs that still has amazing road presence, built really well and to last a lifetime 🙌
Only issue is yearly road tax, especially for the S320, but there's always the S280 😊👍🏽
roadtax aside, do you think its worth it over the w210? prices for both are about equal, give and take
@@jetdin9400 it all depends on you bud, whichever you prefer, that's the one to get #YOLO 😉
Put it this way, don't be at all surprised if a W140 shows up in Weevil Garage someday, haha!!😁
@@ChrisWeevilGarage im really hoping to see you get a w140. there are some very good examples out there. would love some more w140 malaysian content
How much did you spend Sir?
On this W210? As mentioned about 4-5k all in 😊
@@ChrisWeevilGarage ok sir...tq🙏🙏🙏👍👍
Hey Chris… is this car going into market?
Maybe bro, I haven't decided yet, really enjoying it very much currently, haha 😊
if you want to let go your w210, how much hehehe
I usually let go my Weevils at slightly over my cost price only, cos finding them good homes is a priority, so I think about 15k thereabouts 😊
I've spent on my W210 E200 1997 till yesterday was RM61k
Wahhhh!! You've had it since new I bet, nice one bro 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😊
Nice car
Thank you! Timely comment since this one has been sold, but I got another one yesterday, hahaha 😄😄😄
Very good advice indeed. I have a Hyundai Sonata NF 2.4 which I bought brand new 10.5 years ago. Love it to bits. Just spent 5k repainting it and redurbishing the dashboard. Looks like new now and drives like a dream.
There ya go, nice!! Well done bro, good job!! 👍🏽😊
Am going thru the same thing with my own Sonata NF 2.4 2010 and Hyundai Matrix 1.6 2004 too (a very slow rolling restoration I would say). Matrix is crying out for a new set of stabilizer bushes and Sonata's gonna get new front absorbers too I reckon in a few months time😅.
Nothing beats sentimental value for me tho.🙌
@@zaidismail4068 thanks for sharing that bro, all the best with this, rolling restorations are awesome 😊👍🏽
Gorgeous looking this silver w210 inside and out. If only I owned this beauty, I shall called her Silver Blaze then. Great idea regarding the old school steering cover thingy, very comfy and less sweaty grip compared to those modern ones in the market.
Yes indeed bro, cos they're perforated, breathable, good stuff. Found it on Shoppe, haha!! 😀👍🏽
I'm gonna join u one day.. I will get a black one..
Wonderful! Make it happen bud, no regrets #yolo 😄👍🏽🙏🏽
@@ChrisWeevilGarage it's in my mudah save list.. I hear u said one time Fix can last for 10 years.. I believe this.. if I put about 4k for one time Fix really can last for so long?
@@melfredliew8320 I reckon so, with proper preventive maintenance, these cars were built to last a long time 😊
Great advice Chris. Similar with my W124 I'm just taking it slow and easy with the resto, enjoy it and pace myself with the expense at garage... Old cars (mine 1987) there's always something ...never a dull moment they say ☺️
Nice!! Yes, rolling restorations are the best cos u can feel and experience every upgrade as u go along, love it!!👍🏽😀🙏
I literally just spent 3k fixing up various things on my E39. No choice, it's my only car 🤣
Haha, what a coincidence, well done!! E39s are lovely cars, all worth it bud 😊👍🏽
hi Chris. been following your w210 content with great interest. i drive a w124 myself, but cant beat your manual beaut lah haha.
question, i run a 17inch rims, but wanna change back to 15s, to save up on the rubbers and also, to get the classic roadtax. if i change back to 15s, do i have to change my springs too? im already running bilstein hds. and the spacers must be adjusted up (or down, i dont have a clue)? please advice yaa and hopemto hear from you soonest
Hi Reza, thanks for watching and following my Merc journeys! Nope, if you're still on the original suspension set up, even with aftermarket Bilstein shocks, u shld be able to go back to ori 15s (and higher profile tyres of cos) quite easily iirc. U won't even need spacers with the ori set up, however, if your hubs have been modified to accommodate 17s, there might be some reworking required there. You'll also probably need new shorter lug nuts, which shouldn't cost too much, rm120 for a set of 20pc I think. Good luck and all the best 👍🏽 🙏🏽😊
@@ChrisWeevilGarage thanks for your reply, greatly appreciated and i look forward to your next vid. Maybr do a santai walkard your w124, this time bo haze broo hahhaha
@@rezamurad11 ah but the W124 was sold to a viewer a while back bud, sorry, no more updates on it, got a W210 rocking my world now 😊🙏🏽👍🏽
very beautiful car.. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Idan 😊 🙏👍🏽
Baik2
Terima kasih!!👍🏽😊
I bought a W202 for the price of an iPhone; roughly around the period you started publishing your videos of your 'Tuten' and some of your work did gave me ideas/inspirations.
Anyway, back to the W202, I spent quite a bit to sort out the mechanicals and body work and now that thing drives beautifully . And similar with you, I haven't done up the interior yet. All I want to share is; if one is aiming for rebuild, start with something cheap because the bills will just stack up like crazy.
100% correct!! Nice to hear you're doing up the car as u go, a "rolling restoration" so to speak, well done and all the best!!👍🏽😃
