  • Ducati 848 EVO vs. Suzuki GSX-R750 vs. Triumph Daytona 675R
    The Ducati 848, Triumph Daytona 675 and Suzuki GSX-R750 are three middleweight motorcycles that don't quite fit into the 600cc supersport mold, so we decided to pit these three intriguing sportbikes against each other in a shootout.

    All these bikes were on my target list... 848evo, GSXR750 & 675R Daytona.
    Right now, the 675R is sat in my garage awaiting its first service. Awesome bike, truly awesome

    750 is an icon, Suzuki gsxr 750 1985/86 was the first true Superbike, full aluminum, 100hp, sport to the core.

    I think that was a good comparison for these 3 machines. All three seem to be the only one in their "class". I remember when the 750 class was where the heavy hitters went to war. Now it's 600's and liter bikes. Nice to see these three making their own rules. The more bikes out there the better as far as I am concerned. Great video, I enjoyed it.

    great review. i liked the mix of objective and subjective reviews without putting any of the bikes down terribly as most reviews seem to like to do. As we all know the average rider cant outperform the bikes they mount up, so it comes down to subjective bias in riding choice. I have to say this is one of my favorite reviews involving the 848evo (paid and waiting at the dealership paid until i can take R&R) and considering the number Ive watched thats saying something. Excellent job fellas.

    Triumph Daytona 675 for me too!
    It's amazing that this bike hasn't been changed much since it was first introduced in 2006! That's 5 years with only one relatively minor update, yet it is still up there with the best of them!

  • @epicgiant
    @epicgiant 12 років тому

    @MEVeloSupreCITy actually now that I look at it again and pause it I notice he made the same mistake in the left hander before entering the right turn. He was twisting his body to the right (around the left turn), then alternatively twisted his body to the left (around the right turn) - just opposite of what you want to do

  • @epicgiant
    @epicgiant 12 років тому

    @MEVeloSupreCITy The turn was to his right, but his body contorted and twisted to the left instead of shifting his body position to lean to the right along with the turn. It was an improper setup coming out of the left hander into the right, just bad body position

    looks: ducati wins
    topspeed: suzuki wins
    sound: ducati wins
    midrange power: ducati wins
    low end power: triumph wins
    best bang for buck: suzuki wins
    triumph is: original, perfect compromise between the other two bikes, good looking, reasonable price, lots of fun
    suzuki is: not original, fast, not much character, not really attractive looking, cheap
    ducati: original, lots of midrange and high range, great looking, lots of fun, great twin sound
    tested all these bikes before buying the 848 evo

      I know this comment is almost a decade old, but these bikes are still top of the >1000cc bikes used. I am strongly considering the 848 as a replacement to my SFV650. How long did you have the bike, and is there any advice you'd give thats specific to the 848?

    Just some added information for any prospective buyers, the 750 is heavily restricted from the factory. A slip on with an ecu flash is about 15hp more.

  • @TychoCelchu

    Worst mirrors on a bike are actually the RSV4. Although my 848 did come with the extenders fitted.
    The 848 is not "easy to stall" and the clutch works perfectly for feeding the power in smoothly. A hydraulic clutch may be heavy, but it's great once you're used to it. This is my 4th bike with a hydraulic clutch.
    Cans look longer than the EU version. The Termi pipes with ECU and air filter is worth it.

  • @curvejaeger
    @curvejaeger 13 років тому

    @sh1ftydog You've got it wrong. The Daytona has one LESS (3) cylinder than the 600 japanese (4). And that's why the Daytona has a bigger displacement (675cc instead of the 599cc like the japanese) to compensate this. These 3 bikes are way too different to compare, but is ok to put the Daytona 675 on the 600 class, it is meant to compete with them.

    @curvejaeger - The Daytona has one more cylinder than the 600 Japanese bikes (not to mention to Gixxer 750). I think the point of this shootout was that these three bikes really don't belong in any one class. I though tit was a really cool mix of three oddballs.

  • @MotoErgoSum
    @MotoErgoSum 12 років тому

    Horsepower numbers are irrelevant on the street. Horsepower is just a calculation of torque vs RPM. Torque is what launches the start, and coming out of corners. The only gripe I have about my Ducatis is the low-end chug, but we're talking sub 3,000 RPM. I did an overnight trip on my 1098 from Dallas to Toledo, OH in stormy weather (a little too excited to own my first Ducati and wanted to get home to see family). and love the torque-on-demand powerband. 675 is great too. Love my Speed Triple.

    I guess I have to be the ass that reminds everyone that the triumph has 3 cylinders and still puts out that kinda horsepower. But I'm bias, I own a recently downed 08 675 SE and it's the most entertaining bike I've ever ridden. As soon as insurance pays me back, I'm going straight to the Triumph dealership. On a side note I am testing out a ducati and a kawasaki next week but my heart will always belong to triumph so I'm not getting my hopes up.. +1 Triumph 675R

    3 awesome bikes, but the 675 is sort of outgunned performance wise. Having rode all three i'd take the duc if i wanted to bomb it through twisties or carve the canyons, and the gixxer for the top end speed. The d675 is a cool bike too though, they're agile as hell. I'm biased though since I have an 1198, gixxers have always felt too fat for my personal liking, but the 750 is such a genius bike, especially for the price it sort of makes the gsxr600 irrelevant.

    Yea nobody revs to 14000 RPM on the street on every gear. Ducs are much better for everyday use.
    What I was implying rather, is that even as a track bike, the 848 has similar max HP, less weight, and more torque, which means its lap times should be similar if not better than the gsxr 750 in the hands of a professional.

    Sorry, got my facts wrong. 848 evo weights in at 430 pounds curb, while gsxr 750 is 419 pounds curb. The gixxer has the shortest wheelbase of all the 3 and the most comfortable riding position.
    The Duc is too stiff me for me, a little top heavy and tall (I'm asian), not so good feel on the rear brakes, riding position kills the wrist for long periods of time, and a too short of a first gear. That being said, people buy this for the mid-range torque.
