You, sir, ridiculing all these things I've worked on for months, have gained all my respect and made this day great for me.
Well. Couldn't be that sure about Naval ideas on Carthage, cuz they fucked up their naval superiority very damn fast. I guess Hannibal went full Administrative according to huge amount of mercs in his army. And that was the issue - mercs became pure trash after the 1.30 patch.
hannibal didnt state why he didnt attack rome after cannae,but the common opinion is that he believed he couldnt take rome without sustaining significant casualties.carthage being busy on the spanish front and having a hard time procurring hannibal supplies and reinforcements,left hannibal pretty much on his own for the most part of his campaign.it would ultimately cause way more damage and mayhem if he raided the italian countryside and humiliated any resistance rome put forth,plus preserving his own troops for the most part.remember,his end game was to get non-roman italian allies to join him against rome,and attacking a huge ass city with effective wedged defences and 2 legions as garrison,was not really realistic at the time. just goes to show that even after a streak of devastating defeats,rome didnt give a fuck. roma eterna
