    Thank you so much for this video!! My dentist recommended to remove my root canals (3) to put implants. I didn’t feel comfortable with the idea of implants for my teeth. This video helped me make my decision.

    Everyone I have talked to who had Root Canals done have informed me that they had problems later with that tooth including having to have the tooth extracted later anyway, having to have repairs, something with the heart, and something called Crohns symptoms or disease that they never had until after the root canal. I'd be very cautious before getting a root canal unless you could actually fill it with Silver which would kill the germs and other stuff due to leaving something dead in your body.

      Yes!!!! Silver actually has antibacterial properties it is one of the healthiest fillings to get. They use silver to keep burn patients from getting infections when a patients skin has been burned off and they are prone to infections….silver is an ancient way to kill bacteria…we need to go back to using silver in dentistry

      I have 3 root canals. I have never had a problem, and I don't expect any. They range from 15 years youngest and 30 years oldest. If you had a good dentist, and filled with high quality silver...and you maintain them, root canals over extractions any day for me.

    Unfortunately, I recently had a tooth extraction. It all started with being talked into getting a crown for my # 3 molar because my regular dentist said the existing filling was worn out and there wasn't enough tooth area/surface left for a replacement filling to grab onto. I got the crown, and less than a year later, after repeated infections (and I try to keep a very clean mouth), I had to have an emergency extraction because I couldn't take the pain, which was going on for days. A different dentist at the same place I go to had taken a look at the tooth and said she would be willing to do a root canal, but because of the existing infection, wasn't confident it would be successful, so in a panic from the pain, I opted for extraction. Now I'm into this situation for thousands of dollars because dental insurance doesn't cover implants. And on top of that, I've got sinus issues and had to take 6 to 8 advils per day for over a month and a half (that can't be good). And that's just from the extraction. I have yet to have the implant put in, so that'll be another month or two of pain and pain management when that happens. Moral of the story: Do not let your dentist talk you into anything unless you're experiencing pain or some other issue. My # 3 molar wasn't bothering me. I was just going by my dentist's "expert opinion" that it was time to deal with an aging filling. What a mistake.

    • @HeatherMcFall-kw6od
      @HeatherMcFall-kw6od 10 днів тому

      Please switch your pain management to Arnica, Montana 30X HPUS, it is much safer. I was doing exactly what you were doing with the Advil every 5 to 6 hours and got a blood clot that could have killed me. Don’t listen to anyone that tells you it cannot happen with Advil. Taking NSAID several x a day for more than a week can (and it has) cause blood clots! Do your research - there is info out there on this topic. I feel your pain - I will keep you in 🙏.

    I have a crown on a tooth that has not had a root canal. It's always been a problem but my dentist says there is nothing wrong with it and refuses to do a root canal. It's very cold sensitive and I can't chew anything slightly hard on it because it doesn't feel strong enough. It's uncomfortable. I have brought this issue up with my dentist multiple times and they refuse to acknowledge it. She's making me feel like I'm crazy and there's nothing wrong with the tooth. I've asked her to do a root canal because it's so sensitive. She says, is it waking you up in the middle of the night? No, it's not but it's still not right. I spent a lot of money on a crown and I don't know what to do next.

      Hi. I had similar issues, my cousin was my dentist and ignored me for years. I ended up going to another upscale dentist office and they wanted to do the root canal right away. Scheduled it for the next day. Turns out that wasn't the main issue. I had a mid face abscess they all missed. Ended looking like a saggy balloon and a monster.
      They called to see how was doing that evening and asked me to come back because I was even worse. drilled the root canal again plus other teeth that ended up being healthy. So they sent me to get emergency anibiotics, which did absolutely nothing but make it even worse and huge bill only for the er doctor to say there is nothing they can do either.
      The root canal surgeon called the next morning and sent me to a MAXOFACIALL dental surgeon to do a 3D scan of my whole head. where upon seeing me he instantly knew i had a classic case of non symptomatic mid face abscess. It was clear as day on the scan on my whole head but not the one on my teeth. It cost me way less than the root canal and emergency room. I went back to get the fill and they had to open up the tooth yet again and put medicine in it. I'm currently waiting to heal, if it does not then they have to pull and check my bone for infection. This could have been avoided had i known years earlier or not been ignored and dismissed.
      My brother just went and paid 340 for it and was told he was clear and not to worry and it was a hairline fracture but he needs to have a new crown put in because it failed and to do it before any infection sets in. I highly suggest anyone being ignored to go get this 3D scan or if you have a pad or nerve pain on your cheek and especially ptosis that comes and goes. Apparently the Maxofaciall surgeon thinks I've had it for years and I think it's been triggering my autoimmune this entire time. Learn from me, I'm in thousands of debt now due to this. So 340 is peanuts and the surgery is 940. What grinds his gears is that he said he could have saved my tooth from Day 1.

      I had that years ago and they couldn't find anything wrong. But then I confessed I was using a store-bought grinding guard from the local drug store that goes on your back molars when you sleep. It was a semi-hard semi-soft material and when you fall asleep you're constantly biting and biting and biting on it and it's simply inflamed the nerves and made the tooth sore! It felt exactly like it was infected had a cavity become a hot cold sensitivity etcetera but actually nothing was wrong, it was my fault

    I had a tiny cavity on the very edge my #8 tooth at age 38. My 1st cavity. The dentist drilled in too far and killed my tooth. No one explained what a root canal was. I was supposed to know ? My tooth turned gray eventually (8 years later) because I didn’t get the root canal. I had no pain. The dentist could not clean the inside of the tooth to make it white again. I had to get a crown. It broke after 2 years because the post was my shaved down tooth.
    I had to pay for the entire 2nd crown because insurance only pays for one crown every so many years. I asked if I could get testing for allergies to metals before they did the crown and post. She said “the post is titanium. Most people are fine with that”. She didn’t tell me the crown would have silver in it. I had a bad reaction to silver jewelry years ago so I avoid silver jewelry.
    She put the crown back too far and when I would bite down my crown hit my bottom teeth. She shaved the back of the crown and exposed the silver. She shaved my bottom teeth down all crooked.
    I had some discomfort (because it was in wrong!! And my bite was off!) so she sent me to the endodontist. He tried to convince me I had an issue with the tooth next to it (my eye tooth). I kept saying the discomfort was above the crown. He did a “preventive” root canal on the perfectly good eye tooth. There is no such thing. It was insurance fraud. He has done this to many others. He has some very bad reviews. Once I saw the ones about the “preventive” root canals I posted my bad review and said what he did to me.
    My crown post broke (because it was put back too far) and now I can’t get another crown. I need bone grafting and an implant. But they want to attach the implant to the tooth next to it since it’s in the front. That one has no root thanks to the endodontist. So they want to do a crown with a metal post and attach them. No way.
    If the crown has an issue I’d have to get the implant redone as well.
    They want $6k to do this. My insurance covers $700. We don’t have that kind of money and we don’t qualify for any loans and couldn’t pay a loan because right now we don’t have extra after bills are paid.
    I’m walking around with a tiny part of my tooth sticking out of my gum (part of the old post) looking all nasty. And it’s right in front next to my front tooth. I don’t smile anymore. I HAD perfectly straight teeth from braces and the dentist would always say I had beautiful teeth. That crown being positioned incorrectly caused my front tooth to move back some. Now it hits my bottom teeth when I bite down. I need braces again!! No way they could put an implant in and have it look right since my front tooth is now jacked up as well.
    I look hideous. It’s been 3 years now. I don’t even like talking outside the house because sometimes you can see that nasty thing. I’d rather have an empty space than that part of the tooth showing. I’m a people person so it totally sucks not being able to smoke or laugh in public without grossing people out. That endodontist should lose his license and that original dentist should be paying for all this work I need. It’s all her fault. The 2nd one didn’t help either. She should be paying for braces for me. lol

    • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  5 днів тому +3

      These folks are partially correct about a few points - but mainly incorrect because they are not understanding the way the oral biofilm or fluoride behaves. One reason is that there is much misunderstanding in dentistry about biofilm - which is often equated with plaque.
      In other words - dentists generally believe that all biofilm is infected biofilm.
      This may be so in their world - but it is not the case in the world of xylitol.
      You can read my book Mouth Care Comes Clean to learn more about how we can modulate plaque ( infected oral biofilm) and turn it into healthy biofilm. Healthy biofilm is NOT affected by mouthwash....so in a healthy mouth alcohol in mouthwash has no effect on its composition.
      The ONLY mouthwash that can potentially damage oral biofilm is chlorhexidine after protracted use.
      Chlorhexidine was the "ANTISEPTIC" used in a couple of studies that determined "antiseptic mouthwash" can raise blood pressure etc.
      It was the MEDIA who put the picture of Listerine - assuming that Listerine was the culprit - which was incorrect.
      There are different kinds of fluoride in the world.
      I only endorse the use of sodium fluoride - in very dilute 0.05% concentration.
      I do not endorse consumption of large amounts of fluoride - which is why I warn people about consuming too many raisins, wine or teas - which mostly have high amounts of fluoride. I never drink commercial iced teas for this reason.
      I do not see holistic dentists warning their patients about these food products that have such high fluoride levels.
      I believe the topical application of dilute sodium fluoride causes no harm because we spit it out, and that used in this way it will protect us from the toxicity of plastic fillings, sealants and other materials that holistic dentists do not warn their patients about.....
      I guess we all see things differently...you will have to decide.

    • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  5 днів тому +4

      @@beemikeme I do not recommend "swishing" with xylitol.
      The idea behind the use of xylitol is to have some and allow it to stimulate a flow of saliva into the mouth.
      Xylitol creates a hygroscopic "pull" and this stimulated saliva is the healing saliva that our teeth need.
      It is NOT the xylitol per se that works - it is saliva generated BY xylitol that is most beneficial.
      Yes, when we leave this saliva in our mouth - "resting" for 1-2 hours afterwards - it is THIS time that heals our gums and teeth- and creates a healthy biofilm. Xylitol does loosen plaque and does FEED healthy oral bacteria - but it needs that resting time.
      The idea of swishing xylitol can actually create a different response - and may make teeth more sensitive by its hygroscopic "pull".

    I had a resorption on a lower canine tooth about 12 years ago. I had to choose between a root canal and an implant. Literally both doctors standing there on either side trying to convince me that their option was better. I went for the root canal. So glad I did. Great endodontist. It was a long procedure but I still have the tooth.

      @tntmyth 10 днів тому +2

      @@sl4983 it was a long procedure. Maybe a few hours. The dentist spent a lot of time with my head tilted back using a microscope to make sure she got all the infected tooth material out and used an apparatus to keep my mouth open and isolate the tooth. Unpleasant but worth it. I'm sure that getting an implant wouldn't have been fun either. The resorption was really painful, so I was anxious to jump through any hoop to stop the pain.

    • @roachtoasties

      Same here. I went the implant route. In looking at the x-ray there was this giant gray hole in the middle of my tooth where there was none the last time I had x-rays. They can develop quick. The doctor said I've would have known very quick something was wrong if I didn't have my regular check-up. A toothache was just around the corner. The implant was a year long process after the extraction, but no problems. It was about 5 years ago. As far as pain, there was none from the resorption as it was caught before it got to the nerve. The implant procedure wasn't really painful at all, but it took many appointments. I drove myself to all of them. The pulling of the tooth was the worst part, but once it's done it's done.

      50% of people will get cancer if they live long enough. We will all die of something. The question is, when did they get those diseases? at what age? In some families people don't live long enough to get cancer so you might not see 80 year old with cancers. Also dementia happens to half the people who live to a very old age. I agree to some extent about real teeth being better. But there's also another factor. People who have healthy teeth are more likely to eat nuts fruit, fresh vegetables etc. if there's pain or wrong denture fit, they might not eat what they should

      Find a biological dentist who will safely extract root canal tooth. My bio dentist did a 3D Cone Beam scan which confirmed the tooth had developed an abscess. This tooth had also had a retreatment done years before by an endodontist. Root canaled teeth always have infection left behind. Once it was safely extracted including removing g the periodontal ligament and using ozone therapy, my other overall ill health symptoms vanished within a week. And no pain. Complete healing took 3 months. I’ll likely get a partial, not an implant. I like Dr. Ellie’s system, but I disagree about getting a root canal ever. I am somewhat unsure about what you have stated about root canals. I had two root canals done by the best Endodontics practice in my area and I had intermittent pain in one which eventually subsided but ten or so years in, they both failed with excruciating pain needing emergency surgery to pull both teeth. I was always told my dental hygiene was wonderful at dental visits but still, this happened. I then had another dentist put in zirconium implants (incorrectly, sadly) and they both failed only months after. I ended up having to live with two missing back upper molars on one side to this day which has resulted in jaw clicking and I can't chew on one side. I do not trust these dentists whatsoever. I am thankful I have used your system for a year now and have had beautiful results but the fact remains that root canals can't possibly kill all bacteria in the tooth and they can be reservoirs of infection. I know for myself, I felt so much better after they were pulled and I had been having health issues that must have been related that they caused. Also my sinus was broken into during implant surgery and I have had recurrent infections ever since. I just do not think the "science" is quite there as to understanding how a tooth is a live organ and can't be left in the mouth or that an implant is like a real tooth. I don't know what the answer is, but I do know the nightmare I went through due to this whole thing.

      The answer for anyone who is unable to consume xylitol is to use the crystals - and literally brush your teeth with some of these crystals, using a toothbrush - either at the end of a meal or at the other times when you would normally have a mint.
      Xylitol is an important part of the process - and you will loose much of the benefit without using some.
      By brushing with the crystals, you will spit out - but leave the residue in the saliva in your mouth.
      Xylitol FEEDS the good bacteria in your mouth - which makes a big difference to the healing of your gums and teeth.
      Crystals are available on Amazon (Zellies does not sell any of these)
      Use the toothbrushes that I recommend - the MOUTHWATCHERS flossing brushes - and wet the brush first - then add the crystals.
      You do not need to add any toothpaste - you can simply brush with the xylitol crystals.
      Here is a link to the crystals which come in small packets - you need less than a quarter of the packet at each brushing - aim for one packet per day.

      @@intoasoul well for me, it’s either have the teeth extracted or filled with pure silver. I believe root canals cause a myriad of problems in the body, including, but not limited to heart disease. There was a documentary I watched a couple of times that dives deep into the subject. The Root Cause is a great documentary about root canals. Many experts say the nerves from teeth are miles long so impossible to clean completely bits like leaving something dead in your body. My homeopath had 6 root c as bald and developed tons of health issues. She spent a fortune to get ozone treatments but eventually had to have implants. I think she has over $100000 in her mouth!

    I tried using the mouthwashes recommended by Dr. Ellie in her mouth system and the Act mouthwash caused stains on and in between my teeth. My teeth are badly stained now!! Turns out that the Act mouthwash has an ingredient called cetylpyridium chloride which is known to cause stains on teeth. I now have to schedule an extra dental cleaning to take care of this and hope these can be removed by my dentist. I am sure as a dentist Dr. Ellie should have been aware of this fact. It would have been wise to also warn people that the Act mouthwash could cause tooth staining. I am very unhappy here!!!

    • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  5 днів тому

      STOP...you have misinterpreted what you are seeing.....
      I bet you are not using the mouthwatchers toothbrushes that are more resilient - and you need to target these areas that are NOTHING to do with the ACT product - it is to do with surface debris staining on your teeth.
      This only happens to people with porous teeth AS YOUR ORAL HEALTH improves - and IF YOU ARE NOT targeting the difficult areas where you may not have been brushing well before.
      Did you ever use disclosing tablets as a kid and realize the places that you miss each day when you brush????
      These are THOSE problem areas/ places.
      To get rid of these stains - don't change a thing - just add some granular xylitol and get the toothbrushes that I recommend ( one for the morning and one for the night) and this superficial debris will clean off your teeth in a couple of days.
      Here is a video about this.
      A soft or electric brush cannot do this job properly - no matter how much you paid for it.
      Also - don't be scared to brush vigorously - your enamel will not wear away. It is harder than steel.
