  • Joel Webbon and Justin Peters discussed Bethel and their teaching on kenosis, the self-emptying of Jesus. In this video I cover the doctrine of kenosis and correct the misconceptions that they promoted in their discussion.

      Ehhhh once I actually watched what they had to say and showed me proof of all the fraud and insanity and poor biblical teaching going on I kinda agree with them.
      I’m a continuationist, I strongly disagree with Calvinism and I think there’s a spirit of arrogance amongst alot of reformed types.
      That being said they’re exposing how corrupt and unbiblical charismatics as a whole are and how badly charismatics need serious reform.

    They are so concerned with the letter they completely miss the spirit. They are so concerned with Jesus being "too" human that they sacrifice the invitation to relationship. They will never let you graduate from being slaves to Christ into friends of the bridegroom and god forbid we become sons and the heresy of heresies to become his Bride!! I guess if they want to remains as slaves adn remain on the cross forever receiving in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Or more specifically they spend all of their time nailing other brothers and sisters to the cross of perpetual repentance until we come into the full knowledge of Justin Peters

    I find it unethical for one side to say “he says” or “they teach” without providing some citation that can be verified. The best I’ve seen done is a quick video clip without context and again without a link to confirm. Many of the heretic hunters' accusations can be refuted by some research that would be demanded on most high school term papers. (Do they still do those, maybe that’s the problem.). Thank you for taking the time to give chapter and verse that supports your position. Funny, I don’t see them attempting to refute your refutation. Could it be they can’t?

      The Greek word "know" in that passage is mistranslated. It should read "tell", "Only the Father tells".
      The same word is used by Paul, when he says, 'I am determined that when I am with you, only to "know/tell" the message of the Cross'.
      It means to make one know or cause knowledge of.

    • @robertemard9452
      @robertemard9452 Рік тому +1

      @@lizh1988 Actually the Greek expression for "no one knows" in Mark 13:32 is "oiden oude" which is "has perceived not yet". The same verse occurs in Matthew 24:36 with the same Greek expression. All main bibles translate as "no one knows"; including KJV. "Oiden" or "knows" appears in Mark 4:27 for a different topic and "tell" would make no sense in that verse.

    Great video as always. I always asked myself as a young believer: if God left Heaven and became a man, then what is a man, and if a man has abilities that mankind doesn't have, is He really a man? But this is the mystery and wonder of God, that He became a perfect man, totally dependant on the Holy Spirit and His Father in Heaven. Every miracle, the walking on water, multiplying the loaves, raising the dead, the perceiving the thoughts of the hearts of those around Him, He did as a man empowered by the Holy Spirit.
    I think the challenge cessationists and we face is that if we are new men in Christ cleansed and washed in the blood of the Lamb, given the Same Holy Spirit then why are our lives void of this power, and maybe we will also be held accountable before God for not walking in the power of this new life in Christ.

    Yes, the devil's temptations seemed to be designed to get Him to operate as God (which He certainly could have done, otherwise it wouldn't have been much of a temptation). He answered the temptations with scriptures that commanded man to do certain things, showing Him to be conforming to God's commandments to man. Also, the idea that He was conforming to "voluntarily restrictions" on His divine nature is supported in verses like Mark 6:5 (His power to heal was limited that day) and Luke 23:42 (His own will submitted to the Father's). And of course His statement to John: “Allow it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” He lived and died a sinless man, as risen High Priest He could then offer His blood as a pure and perfect atonement for the sins of all mankind - the sacrificial Lamb of God. Son of God, Son of man, in whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily.

    Good summary, but I think something is being missed on both sides. Bill J. is assuming that Christ was only modeling supernatural 'performance' for lack of a better term, when I think what was actually being modeled was kenosis itself. The events surrounding the baptism of Christ sort of illustrate that, his stunning submission to John is said to "fulfill all righteousness", which is then ratified by the Father and the Holy Spirit, followed by the temptation, where Christ models kenosis, refusing to use his divine nature to sustain his life, instead relying on the Father. It's that that is the precondition for him coming back in the power of the spirit IMO. I guess my point is it's not just a question of natures but humility - without the deep humility associated with kenosis, the gifts of the Spirit can become a very dangerous thing in the hands of unstable or immature people ( cf Todd Bentley), which is why the apostles and others had to see kenosis modeled and personified over time so they could have the foundation to operate in that glory without getting caught up in pride and other things. This is probably why asceticism was so big in the early church, sadly now misunderstood and only seen in the Orthodox Church as far as I know.

    Thank you for showing Christ's power manifested in His humanity by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. But isn't it true that in the Gospel of John the miracles He did which are not mentioned in the other three gospels was done in His divinity? Other words didn't He do some miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit and some as God? Raising Lazurus from the dead? turning water into wine? John says these were signs to point to Jesus as God. Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it. Surely, we couldn't do the same miracles that Jesus did.

    It's truly amazing that Jesus (whom people claim to TRUST) is called the SON OF GOD over 70 times in the New Testament (mostly by himself) and affirms Peter's declaration on his identity in Matthew 16 and yet
    a) he's ignored
    b) people insist on deciding that they know who he is
    c) "Son of God" isn't enough for people.
    Have you all read Romans 5?? He HAD to be a man!
    Read the warnings in 1st John!
    He does NOT warn about people denying his "deity" but about people denying he was Messiah and denying his son-ship! The whole letter warns!

    At any given time He could have called upon a legion of Angels.
    But He choose not to.
    Now if you look at the NIV you will find a different context.
    PHILIPPIANS 2:6: The KJB again, clearly declares the deity of Jesus Christ: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD" The NIV reads, "Who, being in very nature God, DID NOT CONSIDER EQUALITY WITH GOD something to be grasped,".
    This may have been their view, after 2011 but they update it every ten years or so to keep you guessing.😮

      Did Jesus want the woman with the issue of blood to "fess up"? Did He want the father of the epileptic boy to "fess up"? Was Jesus lying about not knowing the day or hour of His return? Was He faking ignorance when asking questions in the Temple as a boy? Did He fake "growing in wisdom"? You're suggesting that the attribute of omniscience was fully operational throughout His life, but what about the attribute of omnipresence? Was Jesus only pretending to be confined to one location at a time? What about the attribute of omnipotence? Why did Jesus say that He could do nothing of himself? Why did He need to be anointed? Luv ya back.

  • @Mike65809
    @Mike65809 7 місяців тому

    Jesus did empty himself of divine attributes.! This is correct. How so? If we say he didn't know the day or hour of his return in his human nature only, we are committing the Nestorian heresy. After all, why not just go over to his divine side and find out?? No, to say he had two natures is Nestorian. He had one nature, human, but was endued with the Holy Spirit, given without measure. His Father was working in him doing his work. However, he was deity always in his Logos spiritual identity. This did not change in his Incarnation. As such, he was worthy of worship and allegiance as God even as a man. If he had his divine attributes while on earth he would have glorified himself, which he could not do as a man. Man cannot glorify himself. You may also notice his own brothers and sisters did not believe on him, since he did no miracles in his childhood. He was not pretending to be a baby, he was a baby. In his glorified state, however, he has his divine attributes.
