erm.. Just for those curious .. this black goo is mostly MangandiOxide (MnO2) mixed with other rest products from the battery .. ManganDioxide can be used to acceleratet the curing and hardening of rubber and oil, it rapidly hardens oil paint for example... this greatly accelerates the aging of the rubber part of the tyre, u want tyers to be flexible not hard and stiff .. woudent recommend this at all

My nephew when he 12 years old heated up a dead 9 volt battery insides to see what would happen. Somehow the battery him in the eye and acid made his eye sore and painful. I was looking after my nephew .I didn’t see him doing his experiment but my sister gave me a terrible earache because I was looking after him.

Simply not good, a few of the comments point this out, with info as to why it's not a good thing to do, batteries are sealed and indeed need to be disposed of correctly, so they can be recycled etc. in a proper way.
