The Elmer elephants are for Brian House Children’s Hospice in Blackpool, there’s 71 scattered around the town centre and as far down the promenade as the Solaris Centre facing the glitter ball. I’ve got some friends coming over on Friday to do an Elmer safari. There is an app which shows the location of them all, each one has a code on the plinth and some of them have gifts you can claim. It’s something to do in Blackpool, it’s free and it’s fun and hopefully will raise some funds for the children’s hospice 👍

Yeah, of coure it's properly cheap and cheerful product, but still, to knock them out at a quid a pop is still incredible nowadays. Just 1 of those sausages you mention are a couple of quid from my local chippy, and as you say they are the cheapest of the cheap catering sausages.

Blackpool ....cheap and cheerful , tacky , a little dodgy in places but exactly what you want for an inexpensive weekend break . I was born on the Fylde Coast and love the place , any chance I get I go back despite the poverty and neglect. Southerners have exactly the same issues but hide them better 😁 Family of 5 fed for a fiver , family of 5 having fish and chips at Harry Ramsdens in Bournemouth £100+ , this does sort of put things into perspective. You sir are a great ambassador breaking down the North / South divide and proving the South isn't the center of the universe , I applaud you 🤣
A great summation of Blackpool in your comment there! And it's true, you head to pretty much any seaside town, north or south and you will find many of the same issues around. I've always had a fondness for the North, at 18 I moved from Dorset to Manchester, and loved the experience. Friendlier folk, cheaper beer, what's not to like!
in a video on another channel you can see he uses Booker Basics Burgers (71% Beef) which are 46p each & in this one you can see Wilkinger Hot Dogs (73% total Chicken/Pork/Beef) which are 38p. Add 19p for the buns plus sauce, electric, onions, rent etc then he's not making much per burger so good on him for keeping it at £1 for so long.
2:45 you can see the Wikinger hot dogs in a glass jar on the shelf.... must be what he uses. I personally prefer the Aldi/Lidl Bockwurst in a glass jar, as those ones are pork. The Wikinger ones are chicken and turkey. I am still amazed that you can get a burger/hot dog with sauce and onions for £1!!!
2 pounds, its really a fair deal! Looked not too bad and something in your tummy for 2 pounds and a walk on the beach, sun is out, could not be better ❤
So good value, I’m a young single mum, and too, my daughter to our village fete on Bank Holiday Monday, Cost £6 for 2 catering burgers. Which was expensive, especially as Chris gets his burgers burgers from a cash n carry and does them for £1
Just goes to show that people can make lower costs work if they are smart about it. I know it's not the finest quality, but I have paid more for burgers that taste worse, that's for sure!
Costco has a hot dog with a UNLIMITED drink for $1.25 here in the US. The hot dog is good and you can get onions, ketchup and mustard. And I love the raspberry Iced tea. They used to have polish sausage for the same price but stopped during COVID. Shame. I live within a 15 min walk or 2 min drive to Costco. I do pop down for a hot dog for lunch once in a while. The chicken Caesar salad used to be $2.50 but now is almast $6 and not a good value anymore. The Pizza slice has gone up to over $2 too. The hot dog is the best value.
Wow, they're spread out quite a distance, so that's really something to travel between them all. I am sure the burger gave you a nice little energy boost on the way round :-)

First heard of this guy from Rate my Takeaway, what a guy! He seems so genuine, and as he says himself, where else you gonna get a decent burger for a quid!
I have never had this; in fact I have never been to Blackpool. However, I have seen many videos like this of people trying it. To be totally honest, the idea of this scares me witless. I mean cannot be any quality there at and is it even real beef in the burger and real pork in the hotdog? If my skepticism is unfounded, then all I can say is, £1 for burger or hotdog WITH sauce and onions is unbelievable value for which I have no words. I would have thought the £1 excluded any sauces or onions, but alas, I know I am wrong. Sorry, I had to laugh when you said putting one of these with a bag of chips. Even the smallest bag of chips; so small you can literally count the chips, would 2 or 3 times more money. 🤣 Sorry, I am having a bit of a rant 😝but even when you buy a burger from BK or McDonald's they charge £0.40p for an extra single slice of cheese! So, I wonder, is cheese even an option here and if so, to elevate the burger to a cheese burger, would it cost £1.40? Similarly to drape the hotdog in cheese, would it be an extra £0.40p? On an irrelevant side note, if you have never tried a cheesy hotdog, try it! It is just amazing! I really enjoyed your review, but I am still not sure I would want to try it myself. £1...Good grief, it reminds me of my childhood in the 70s and 80s. I am new to this channel, but I am loving it. You are an excellent reviewer. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind owrds about the channel. Like yourself, I am somewhat skeptical about the nutritional value or otherwise of this.... but for a quid I guess it is what it is ! I think a cheeseburger was £1.50, don't know if that is just for one slice of processed cheese or not. And you're probably right about the chips, although a family could probably each have a burger, share a large portion of chips and still have change out of a tenner :-)
If a business can still make money on a £1 generous burger in 2024 - then it goes to show that most other food traders are ripping off the public, big-time. I've seen joke prices on portions of fish and chips for £15, and 'economy' burgers for £5. People, spend wisely.
I get that for most businesses there are many factors to take into account, cost of ingredients, staff, utilities, business rates, insurance etc. etc. And perhaps his costs are low, he seems to be a one man band, perhaps he owns the building or rent is cheap. But it does make you wonder about the margins some folk are making doesn't it!
You are being very disrespectful to small businesses that struggle to stay afloat with the costs of food and the cost to prepare it to UK hygenic standards , let alone make any profit to have a living ... A £1 burger in 2024 is simply a loss leader, it costs approx 15-25 pence in gas/kwh of electricity to just cook the burger ... let alone the cost of the patties, bread, onions and condiments etc ... if the vendor some how makes enough of a profit for a reasonable living, he has to pay tax on that income ... it does not add up at all without knowing the bigger picture. Wholesale cost of all ingredients & wrappers/napkins would put it around 45-50 pence per burger ... add the energy cost, transportation, refrigeration that could push it around 65-70 pence. That leaves 30-35 pence profit per burger. The mininum wage is approx £11.5 p/h, he alone with no employees would have to pump out atleast 35 burgers per hour (approx 250-260 burgers a day) There would be a visible queue of people each hour Monday - Saturday between 12-7:30 PM thru 12 months a year to match the annual gross income of a full time employee on a minimum wage ... Given this is a fast food outlet, customers rock up between 12-2pm, 6-8pm and 11 PM-1 AM ... I cant see anyone staying open for 13 hours a day with the grill on and then flipping hundreds of patties in 2 hour stints single handedly!
My only beef with this video is at the beginning where you say it would cost more than £2 to catch the bus. That's wrong, bus charges have been capped at ££2 for a couple of years now. So you can get the open top bus from Bournemouth all the way over on chain ferry to swanage for £2 - check it out 👍
£2 is extortionate ...imagine if you have 15 Kids and you live in France for instances you have the travel costs and a hotel stay for 17 people that ends up costing you around £700 pounds for one burger and you share it with 15 kids
£1 say what?!? 😲 I’m expecting cheap catering style food not quality ingredients 😐 Nice to see a proper roll though not the brioche bloody bun!!! 👏 Crikey it’s a tucked away place! 😂
Each year the owner of the £1 burger shop is losing money due to inflation of currency ... unless its just a loss leader and the shop is making money from other means ... Think about it before you put that kind of food into your digestive system every weekend ...
I would imagine that he makes a small margin in each item he sells, but hopes that the profile he now has means that there are enough of these small margins to make it worthwhile. I would make no claims as to the nutritional value of what he sells, just that he offers a very low cost option which may be attractive to folk with a lower disposable income.

First heard of this guy from Rate my Takeaway, what a guy! He seems so genuine, and as he says himself, where else you gonna get a decent burger for a quid!
Yep, fair play to him. It's not just the burger for a quid either - hot dog, sausage bap, spam bap and a couple of others I don't recall.
A great little video that. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it !
Higgit was born with more teeth than he has now
Ha ha, that may be true!
A BURGER AND A PINT OF BEER 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 THANKS FOR THAT 😮😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
You're welcome
Excellent Greeno ...... good honest grub at an incredible price - you just can't lose. What a top guy this man is - salt of the earth.
Yep, cheap, filling and tasty, fills the brief!!
Stop waving the Burger around kamasie Gull around 😊
Ha ha, the gulls won’t outsmart me 🙂
i'm glad i don't live down there, i'd be a calorie bomb in a heartbeat with these burgers around😂
Ha ha, could be dangerous!
Sorry, I am having a bit of a rant 😝but even when you buy a burger from BK or McDonald's they charge £0.40p for an extra single slice of cheese!
I cant see anyone staying open for 13 hours a day with the grill on and then flipping hundreds of patties in 2 hour stints single handedly!
found it :)
Jolly good 🙂
Old school burgers brilliant f a pound
Yep, for a quid can't go wrong!
Chris the blackpool daddy the pound burger man is a legend
He is certainly a popular fellow!
My only beef with this video is at the beginning where you say it would cost more than £2 to catch the bus. That's wrong, bus charges have been capped at ££2 for a couple of years now. So you can get the open top bus from Bournemouth all the way over on chain ferry to swanage for £2 - check it out 👍
It was just a throwaway line to demonstrate how things are more expensive down south, not to be taken literally 🙂
£2 is extortionate ...imagine if you have 15 Kids and you live in France for instances you have the travel costs and a hotel stay for 17 people that ends up costing you around £700 pounds for one burger and you share it with 15 kids
Ha ha - I cannot imagine the French even considering eating the £1 burger - certainly not sophisticated enough for the French palate !
£1 say what?!? 😲
I’m expecting cheap catering style food not quality ingredients 😐
Nice to see a proper roll though not the brioche bloody bun!!! 👏
Crikey it’s a tucked away place! 😂
It's a very cheap burger, but tasty enough for the incredibly low price!!
@@GreenoEats I'm drinking a glass of bordeaux at 1 am while still trying to figure how the £1 burger business model works ...
Great content by the way!
@@ThreeFiddy1701 Thank you!
Ketchup on a hot dog? NOOOOOO!!!!!!! 😟😟😟😉
Old school 🙂 I generally would have both ketchup and mustard, but as this was only a quid thought it cheeky to ask for both 😂
He's rich in happiness, not in burger profits. 😉
Can't go wrong with that mate. Hope your stay up North didn't traumatise you that much lol, I'm joking by the way fellow Northerners
Ha ha, I may be a proud Dorset boy, but I am a big fan of the North - need to get back up there soon if I can !
@@GreenoEats you can come with me to Bradford and Fleetwood away next season Greeno! 😂⚽️
@@GreenoEatsany plans to travel more north?
@@jessicanippes1730 I would like to, just got to find the right time to schedule it in, I'm heading further west at the end of this month, not north 🙂
I've heard worse plans than that Smithy !!
Coming from Dorset, Blackpool must seem like Vegas. There goes my invite to Bournemouth ( happy days)😉 How this guy survives is a mystery!
Yep, I hadn't seen a street light before I got to Blackpool 🙂
@@GreenoEats 😉😘😎
Cooked onions on a hot dog? Seems strange to me . Always diced and raw.
It's always been a thing in the UK to have cooked rather than raw onions
@@GreenoEats yeah a uk thing for sure
I'd rather eat that, than a mcdonalds - which always gives me a dicky tummy
Can’t knock it for a quid!
Couldn't hear a thing in this video 😮
Weird, nobody else has mentioned that on this video.
That's ok for £2
What can you get for £2 these days - not much !
Soilant Green mate lol
Soylent Green, isn’t that a really old movie?
Cow can he sell burgers for that price that is udderly brilliant, i guess your didn't have beef with him, and re the price i guess you milk-ed it?!
I’d steak my reputation on the fact it’s the cheapest out there. So cheap I am tempted to moove there!
@@GreenoEats Boom boom it was annoying when my dinner was on the ceiling the steaks were to high! Hope you like my cow-medy and moove-ing there the grass is always greener?!

Burger me, I'm not gonna mince my words, these puns are getting worse ha ha!
fill ya belly for a quid, no brainer
Especially at the seaside, normally folk there try to take advantage of the captive audience and whack the prices up a bit!
Bargain! And probably no less quality meat wise than a chip shop burger. Can't go wrong
yep - nothing not to like about this really !
The trump might put me off
Might put anybody off!
Nothing wrong with Trump, but I guess you believe all the main stream media/social media propaganda BS they spew about him. I bet you pair voted Labour. Thanks for that.
This fella looks like he hasn’t bathed since 1985
I am sure he has, the Environmental Health Officer would have plenty to say otherwise 😂
He should put the price up to £1.50 at least.
He seems determined to keep it at a quid. Probably even more so now that a rival £1 burger place has opened up in the town!
Bloody hell........is every UA-camr going Todo a £1 burger........can't you think of something your self to film 😢
If you look through my channel there's a lot of variety. Yes I did this video, and it got 3 times more views than anything else I did in Blackpool, so people must be interested 🙂
this has being filmed so very many times for so long bu so many people. Really old news.
That may be so, but still it is the most viewed video on my channel in the last month. Same for Just Deano I believe who published his video on it just this week. So people are clearly interested :-)
£1, and cash only. Tax man...............
Every card transaction there is a cost to the business, this I'm sure would wipe out any profits he makes, so good on him.
The other part of the business is an arcade full of slot machines, I guess it doesn’t make sense to have a card machine and all the associated fees just for the food side?
This is true, many businesses even now still have a minimum card transaction because of those fees. Not sure I could eat 5 burgers just to meet that !
@@GreenoEats The fact that you don't have a choice no matter how much you spend says it all.
@@andymartin3039 It's a pound cos he pays no tax. No tax=his profit line.
Annoying
What is?
Morning, became aware of the Chris the £1 burger man through another vloger. Lee aka The Mac Master, since then he's had more customers than the Tower🏖️🎢🎡Value for the tourist trade, it may help him being attached to the amusement arcade 😉🤔but it's a service. And, I don't know about you. But sometimes you just need a down market cheap basic, pie, burger and chips you can't recreate the flavour or smell of " stewed onions". Ah happy daze😳🤗Cheers Allan&Family
Yeah I think this place is now a bit of a Mecca for the UA-cam community! I agree, sometimes you just want something cheap and cheerful, but tasty and Chris certainly hits that brief! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
nice video
Thank you 🙂
it been done a million times getting very boring think of better things to vlog you sad thing
Have a look through my channel Stephen - you will see there is a wide range of stuff, reviews of things I have cooked at home, reviews from around Dorset, London, France etc. The fact that it is the most viewed in the first 24 hours of any video I have released in the last month though shows plenty of people are still interested. I hope you find some other stuff on the channel you enjoy. Cheers, Greeno
