- In today's video I am at my hotel in the Old Town of Bratislava, the Hotel Beigli.
I'll show you around the room, and we head down for the breakfast, which I choose to take in the courtyard garden.
But not everything is well - a fellow diner took offence as my filming and insisted I move tables !!

Pinecone ha ha - that's a new one on me, love it ! And as you say,the only reason he pops up on the video is because he came to moan!!

Yes, breakfast was included in the room rate, which was pretty reasonable given the great location. Shame about the other guest, but can't win them all !

Yeah, I thought it was a bit unreasonable and rude. Not sure me talking to my camera was any different to him talking to his partner, but there we go! Better to deal with things politely though than cause a scene!

It's always better to be polite - defuse a situation rather than enflame it. Sure he was a bit rude, but even after I moved he didn't have a smile on his face during his breakfast, so perhaps he's just one of those kind of guys.

Ooh - I hadn't thought of it from that angle. Could be, because at the point he interrupted me he was dining alone, but shortly afterwards he was joined by female company !

Yep, that's fair enough, and so as not to disturb him I politely agreed to move - I think he was a little rude in his manner still...

Ha ha, not sure it’s that much different to him talking to his partner is it? I was very careful to make sure no other guests were in my shot, he wouldn’t have been in the video at all if he hadn’t interrupted 🤣

Couple of questions Greno.
The geezer who got you to move
1. Did you sit in your seat before the geezer who asked you to move sat in his
2. Was he on his own or was he with someone.
If the answer to 1 is yes he should have moved, providing there was a big enough table for his party.
I thought it to be a strange request as it didn't look overly busy.
He was sat a couple of tables away, and already there when I arrived. But I was careful to place myself as far from anyone as I could, and set the camera so no hotel guests were in shot. And I think you can tell I was keeping my voice low so as not to disturb anyone. He was on his own originally, but his partner joined him after I had moved. Anyway - whatever his reasons, I felt it best to respond with politeness!
@@GreenoEats Perhaps he didn't want his wife to see him with his partner? It often surprises me how rude some people can be in public. On trains i've seen 2 people on different sides of the carriage have a loud conversation and people having rows on the phone. But i've always been nice and ignored it as its a shared space. You were being quite quiet and in an open space. I always think least said soonest mended even with bullies.

When filming I always try to be respectful of the folk around me. Carefully sit and place the camera to try not to get people in shot, not talk too loudly or wildly so as to not disturb people. Not good enough for that guy! Better to respond politely though, don't want to cause a problem !
Sounds like the guy was from Holland. Thank you Greeno for being the perfect English Gentleman! Great example of British manners. Also the cheese looked so tasty! I bloody love cheese!
Yeah I thought Dutch too. But I always think it's best to meet any rudeness with politeness (normally that's more frustrating for the rude person than a more fiery reaction!)
I remember watching walk with me Tim in Amsterdam and he was confronted in the same way. Must be a Dutch hang up.

The jobsworth who requested you sit somewhere else could see that the camera wasn't pointing in his direction, the only reason we knew he was there is becuase he walked into your filming area. You handled it well.
Exactly - it's only because he came to complain that he got into my shot ! Still, not to worry, the breakfast was good, and I liked the hotel too !

Absolutely, plus I find that often these kind of people are trying to provoke a reaction, and when they don't get one it's frustrating for them !!

I wouldn't have moved. The other guy could have! How rude. I'm at least pleased the rudeness was not from a staff member. It looked like a decent breakfast and nice place.
I didn’t think there was any need for it, but better to be polite and keep filming 🙂 I would highly recommend the hotel nonetheless should you ever find yourself in Bratislava!

Mate, that guy thought he was either better or above you. If he has a problem, then he moves not you. You were just talking normally like if you had someone with you.

Yes, I did like this little hotel, and the breakfast was tasty, if not as good as the one in Vienna. As for the slightly rude man - like you say they can be found anywhere !!
Great review, and it looks like another lovely little independent hotel well worth pointing out. The food looks to be better than expected and like a good start to an excellent day.
And kudos to you, sir, for setting a wonderful example in how to be a good citizen trying to enjoy the world and do your thing without trampling others. Which it doesn't seem you were even at the start, but people do moan. Good for you just moving on with life and not escalating someone's tantrum! 😊
It was a really nice little hotel, in a great central location. As for the other guest, maybe he was just having a bad morning. Better to respond politely, move elsewhere and continue my breakfast and filming. No point to cause a scene and impact the breakfast of other diners.

There must be something seriously wrong with his relationship if your quiet talk was annoying him.
In situations like that I do try and keep my voice low and be as unobtrusive as possible - still not quite quiet enough for that guy ha ha !

The hotel room and garden looks really nice, a nice breakfast choice is always good. Bet the cold cuts ( meats) were good. I am sorry the guy asked you to move, does it makes sense?? I needed to smile a bit, saw the crisps on your table and thought, yes, could be mine room, too - 2 cans of beer and crisps 😅😅😅 aww the nut strudel would have been my favourite ❤

The move thing aside,which you handled well and your focus was on the hotel and breakfast, also you didn't mention it again which others may have.
I love the fact that you stay in little places not chains.
Room looked nice, very similar to those i have stayed in -Germany, Austria and Belgium.
Lovely location, we stayed some years ago in Köln in a small pension/hotel not far from the Dom and tbh you wouldn't have known you were a stones throw away from the busy area.
Love a small courtyard location and a continental breakfast.
Price is standard for Eastern Europe these days,since covid rates have gone up obviously but let's be fair it's good value compared to UK and London prices 😂.
Nice to see travel opened again .

Our best friends in Germany are currently on a trip to Lübeck and the Friesian islands at the moment trying to find their Viking roots 😂.

Thanks for the kind words and interesting comment. I do like finding smaller hotels to stay in, they’re just a bit more interesting than the corporate brands, and often a bit more care and attention to detail for the guests. Saying that, when in Hungary I did stay in an Ibis, but that was just because it was less than £50 a night in a convenient location…
Interesting about your friend’s vacation… I know a lot of people in Germany and heading north to the coast and visiting the islands seems to be a really popular vacation choice among them. I guess it’s the only way of staying in Germany and seeing the sea!

If he genuinely felt I was loud and disturbing him then fine - he didn't seem to have any issue with the couples talking across the breakfast table. Anyway, better to respond with politeness :-)
What do you mean “told to move” you shouldn’t let anybody tell you what to do especially a stranger, he was rude in his approach towards you, I know we are all different but I wouldn’t have been spoken to like that and just rolled over and did what the person said, don’t let people treat and speak to you like that, what authority did he have to speak and demand for you to do that, you should have stood your ground politely to avoid escalation. Other than that brilliant video!
I just felt that it was best to respond politely as there were other diners and I didn’t want to cause any disturbance to them. I still enjoyed my breakfast whereas from what I saw he had a grumpy face throughout!

Hello Greeno, on the plus side your new bestie at least spoke English 🏴thought I'd give him a wave 🌊👋. Damn cheek of the fellow. Could have been worse 🤔 could have been English with attitude " the what you lookin at? You want some? " Ah the British abroad 🤠🥴😵😵💫. A very nice selection of meat and cheese, still can't accept cucumber at breakfast 🥒Hot-Stuff( not you 🙄) the food, again not sure about the cooked peppers 🫣maybe mixed with the eggs? Ham/Bacon, yeah fair enough. Fruit and cake, step to far.. So good room, fair to middlin breakfast, But no toast? and they had a good looking toaster. So back to Blighty. It was a little strange, but better to act with politeness in the face of a little rudeness. I don't mind the cold, salady stuff with the breakfast, especially when it's already warm and you know it's going to be a blazingly hot day ahead. Same for the watermelon :-) Could have had toast didn't want to run the risk of triggering someone with the sound of toast popping up at 30 paces though ha ha !
Too hot for a full English I suppose mate but that looked like it filled the gap.👍🏻😁
Certainly was a tasty and light enough breakfast - it's nice to have something like that when you know a roasting hot day is ahead :-)

I love my photography and have been challenged many times but they've always lost their futile quest.....I'm old and disabled but I'd still have told that idiot to move his table if he felt uncomfortable....his problem not mine.
Great garden to enjoy that lovely food in , just a shame you had to suffer the wrath of entitled man....that's our next generations nemesis 🤣
In situations like this I find a polite response often the best policy. No point to cause a scene to ruin other people’s breakfast. And who knows if he would have found other ways to disrupt my video.

My reply wouldn't of been so polite to the other guest... you both have a right to eat your breakfast how you want, irrespective that you were talking to a camera. Breakfast looked decent though. Lee
The breakfast was good, not as good as the one I had in Vienna a few days previously though. As for the other guest, who knows why he reacted as he did, maybe he just had a bad night sleep (or as others have suggested maybe he was with somebody he shouldn’t have been and couldn’t risk being caught on camera! 😂)
Well handled, i would have told him to move if he was uncomfortable. Silly man, sandles and socks wearer i reckon.
Ha ha - I didn't notice his footwear ! To be fair, I always try to be respectful of other diners (hence where I sat, the way I set the camera etc.) but he still hada problem - better to respond with politeness and continue to enjoy my breakfast right :-)
Probably the best response to this kind of encounter. Unfortunately some Europeans can be quite brash and forthright, but it is something that is generational and learnt. Food looked nice despite the drama.
I did find his manner a little rude - but as you say better to respond with politeness so as not to further disturb him or other diners. Of course, English not being his first language could explain that - or maybe he just had a hangover ha ha ! Either way I still enjoyed the breakfast, and would happily stay at this hotel again.

Your room and breakfast looked great, but you didn't say whether it was included in the room price or not. Well worth knowing. The bready roll looked like an indigenous version of a cinnamon roll.

Well handled. If you had moved to a table right close to where he/she/it was already seated, perhaps you should have asked him/her/it whether they could be offended with speaking to a camera. Politeness works both ways. Agreed the person sounded aggressive but so would I if I had already sat nearby with my secret Girlfriend, before some camera guy eavesdrops. Cheers. I eat tons of Water Melons and Cantaloupe Melons every morning on a cruise.
I understand your point about politeness, but I was very careful to set myself up so no other guests were in shot, I was a respectful distance away from any other table and I kept my voice low. People wouldn’t ask before making a phone call or having a conversation. And yes, you’re not the only person to wonder if he was with company that he shouldn’t have been, hence his reaction 😂

Any idea of the nationality of the 'toss-pot' who asked you to move ? Unless he was staff it was not as if you had him in your line of vision.
His accent seemed Dutch / Belgian to me, but I am no expert! I thought his behaviour was a little rude, but better just to be polite than cause a scene. I wonder if he’ll ever see the video 😂

Actually the other guy was sat at his table first, but I was sat a respectful distance away from his table, and set my camera so his table could not be seen, and talked in a low voice.

I always try to be respectful of people around me when filming. I careful sat and placed the camera so nobody was in shot. I talked in quiet tones - not sure it was much different to the various people talking to their partners across the breakfast table. But ok, if it disturbed him then I understand. But I felt he was a little rude interrupting and then asking me to move away from him. But better to respond with politeness !

Normally a regular watcher, but after seeing this cannot watch no longer, why the hell didn’t you stand up for yourself there..any kids watching and it shows them to back away and be complete Fanny’s…I did like you but now this shows exactly what is wrong with how society is today now, your aiding to the problem..what’s wrong with fighting back. What purpose does it serve to respond to rudeness with a more agressive response? I wanted to enjoy my breakfast and continue filming. Who knows why the guy decided to interrupt me - maybe he had a bad night's sleep or a row with his partner. Had I decided to escalate the situation then that would have potentially disturbed other guests enjoying their breakfast too. I think I handled the situation well personally.

@@Liam-99 sure, I understand where you are coming from, and if circumstances were different then I would have reacted differently. But as I wanted to continue filming my video undisturbed I think diplomacy was the better option here.

It's not about 'having balls' ... it's about handling things like an adult and not letting things escalate ... especially on holiday.
You handed that better than I would have. I understand him being annoyed if you had him in shot maybe, but the way you were filming wasn't intrusive in the slightest. I think my response would have consisted of two words only. Some people are just so miserable. What makes him think he has the right to tell you to move, is he incapable of moving himself?? I hate humans sometimes 😆
I always try to be as respectful as possible when filming, and if I can find a place where nobody else is in shot then I will. I keptmy voice quite low, so again like yourself I don't know what the problem was. But maybe he just had a bad night's sleep (or as others have suggested he was with company that he shouldn't have been, and couldn't risk being on camera ha ha !)
