I'm positive they knew he was gone. It's really hard to forget someone and leave them in the ocean. They couldn't find him and so they gave up. It's a lot harder to see someone in the waves of the ocean while only their little head of popping up.
They really just took off without him. He needs better friends.

they probably aren't close enough to notice someone missing. ive seen tourists gather and form groups and travel or do diving despite not knowing each other in order to somewhat save money or just to have some company.

Most people dont feel much in the way of pain when a shark does a test bite. It might be a different story if it was a full on attack bite from the start, but i tend to think adrenals would kick in and you wouldnt feel very much before bleeding out and loosing consciousness. Especially with how numb youd be in the frigid water at night. The terror inbetween bites would be the worst.

There was a scuba diver who told his story on the show "I Shouldn't Be Alive" who stayed floating out in the open ocean for almost 4 days. Can't even imagine that horror.
I was shocked that he was left alone, lost without anyone's help at all. I am thankful that he made out safe with the help of the plane!!

You can't take a bottle of water with you scuba diving. It would get crushed by the pressure at depth, break the seal and all leak out. You could take a capri sun pouch or something like that.

that goes for every survival story though. example i saw a guy get trapped in a crevasse while he was skiing, he was able to survive and not sustain a more severe injury because his ski pole proved to be strong enough to carry his weight and in return he didn't fall deeper down the crevasse. i can think of more examples but you get the point.

RTG Hammerhead the molarity (concentration) of salt in sea water is a lot higher than your body, so drinking it literally sucks the water out of you
The sea water makes you feel sick and even thirsty than what you were before
RTG Hammerhead It does make you “crazy”. Salt dehydrates you and eventually being dehydrated enough can make you almost drunk and delirious.
