🌸 wait her wet suit was found intact with some minor holes. Barnacles growing on it, showed length of time, so roughly indicating it was tossed on day of their dive. I thought it would have been torn in pieces being eaten by sharks etc. So she took it off.....nope it’s hard to do this on dry land & nearly impossible in water, especially if you are trying to tread water or float
Seems one of them died in some kind of accident on board boat, other was tossed in water. The diving boat person covered it up by throwing their belongings over board hoping to get rid of evidence & hoping it would look like shark attack.
I don’t think couple faked their death & did this without money or resources. I think one died first & other thrown in open water to drown. Sadly they would be eaten. I don’t think they were in wet suits at time of this sad faith. I believe their stuff were chucked into water after their demise to make it look like diving accident. Why would diving boat leave two people in ocean? Why indeed 😳 Fishy, very fishy

    • @alantaylor6691
      @alantaylor6691 3 роки тому +7

Yes, a number count seems very risky for such a thing. Number counts, when you have people jumping in and out of the ocean, would certainly have a chance of messing up. For such an important thing like not leaving people stranded in the middle of the ocean, you'd think a name count (roll call) would be used instead of a number count. The result of making a mistake with a number count is just too awful to rely on it, as this is a life or death thing.
The company was too lax (relaxed) in it's safety protocol. Notice how "relax" is derived from "lax"? I never noticed that before. I'm a genius!

I think it's atrocious. Not only is the film dull, and needlessly demonize sharks that already are critically endangered cuz of stoking unnecessary fears like this, but it's a cheap cash-in on a real tragedy, where their families were still in mourning. They changed just enough so that they didn't need their families to sign off on it, can you imagine how terrible it would feel to see such a movie, knowing it was making money exploiting the violent deaths of your loved ones?

Getting a proper head count is often a problem. When I was 7, I, along with another student about my age, were left by our school at a ski resort. We wandered around looking for anyone else we recognized, but found nobody. We tried to use a payphone, but had no money. Finally, we went to the front desk, and I asked to use a phone. Thankfully I had my mom's work number memorized, so I called. The ski resort was quite a distance from home, so the other student's parents came straight away to get us, but it was still late at night before they arrived. We had to go home with an employee, while waiting. In the end, it all turned out OK. It took a great deal of effort for my parents to get a simple apology from the school. After that, the school was much better about making sure all students were present during a field trip.

The one that really sticks to me is that they were not alone on the reef that first night after being abandoned. There were several other dive and fishing boats that were anchored on the reef that night, and they interviewed some of those people. They said if the couple was stranded and yelled for help they would surely have heard them.

Years ago way before I was born ( 23 now) my grandfather was out with a friend of his and got caught in storm. It ended with his ship started to sink. Now a big thing is that one thing you should never do Is try to swim ashore. While my grandfather's friend thought it would be a better option then drowning. My grandfather not knowing how to swim stayed on the sinking boat. A few hours later my grandfather was picked up from the water. His friend was never found its believed that he drowned and his remains got eaten by sharks/fish from the way my mother tells it he had survival guilt for years because he said if he knew how to swim he would be dead too as he would have risked swimming with his friend. This tragedy belongs to my aunt and uncle. My family.
My mother’s sister and her husband.
All I can say for certain at this point is that due to negligence they were left behind on a scuba trip. Period. A few hypotheses have come up based on journal entries or some such but that is honestly irrelevant and invasive. As her niece I know that she would not have left the people she loved In such a way. She was a free spirited adventurer, she fought for peace and our planet- a beautiful soul.
I also find issue during this video when they describe people who apparently saw the couple (after the disappearance), the first photo shown is my immediately family who I know for a fact has never seen her.. they have mourned and prayed in such hope that whatever happened to them they are in peace.

Once in Santa Cruz after a big winter storm and huge waves calmed down near Pleasure point I looked down and a massive great white shark was on rocks and stranded by waves. That's what's in that bay. Have never and won't go deep into the ocean. It's their home and I respect it. Beautiful, but no way in hell I'd ever go in there. When I was young, I was on a banana boat where there were two teenage boys in front of me, and my brother and his girlfriend were behind me. The boys in front were bouncing on the boat though they were instructed not to.. they ended up bouncing so hard that we hit a wave and we all went flying off into the middle of the ocean while the guy pulling the banana boat kept going. I've never been more terrified in my life! When we fell in, I kneed my brother gf in the ribs and I got hit on the head pretty hard. Thankfully we had our life vests on. The two teenagers didn't fall off like the 3 of us did and they signaled the guy to find us. Thankfully we were able to get back on and head back. I was so furious with those boys ... they didn't dare bounce anyone after that. I'm thankful that's all that happened though. I will never go in the ocean again. Being far out in the middle of the ocean with nothing but your life vest is terrifying!!! I was scared of a shark coming underneath me because I couldn't see anything.

Australian here 👋 Deadly shark attacks close to shore are uncommon as they don't like swimming in shallow water. Bondi Beach (the most iconic tourist beach we have) has not had a confirmed shark attack since the 30s - That local guy who claimed to be attacked by a shark 10 or so years ago lied to cover an injury from a crime he committed.
It's even more unlikely they both died from a shark attack. The proteins in the blood residue would have been all over that wetsuit. Sharks only attack humans when feeling threatened or extremely hungry. We are not their first choice for a meal. You are more likely to die or get seriously injured from a rip or by a wave pushing you against rocks.
Also, the whole "everything in Australia is deadly" thing that Americans believe so blindly is getting out of hand. It's far more common to die from a car accident from one of our many crappy drivers than anything else.

It seems like the original skipper was incompetent and the second skipper ‘possibly’ tried to give an easier ride to the original dive boat. As the wet suits, flippers etc etc were washed up, how did they supposedly board the second dive boat, stark naked ?

Indeed. People REALLY don't comprehend that saying what you'll do in such a situation, is so easy when you're NOT actually in that situation and therefore not in a panicked state of mind. We lose a significant amount of logical thinking in such panicked states of mind, that's when the reptilian part of our brain activates and either it's decisions result in our death OR results in our survival; I know one person whom still kept his arrogant views of "well if they couldn't figure out how to get out of that situation they deserved their demise, because I would of done blah blah blah blah", even after he put himself in a practically 99% fatal situation and survived by ONE scraggly hair on his asshole; because a moutain ranger just so happened to fucking be in the exact area he wandered into after being lost on the mountain for 2 days. Had that ranger not been there he'd have been dead that day, because he had no idea wtf he was doing and wasted what little survival resources he had; and was already half dead from an injury he sustained while trying to climb down the actual cliff like a rock climber, without any rock climbing gear. People can be idiots, BUT they can also be phenomenal in survival situations.

In another missing person case, I learned that the final stages of hypothermia make you delirious and feel like you’re so hot you’re on fire. So in cases where people got lost and are found naked, it’s most likely they stripped their clothes before hypothermia took over. That’s always my go-to thought when people’s clothes are found in the wild. But, I don’t know how likely this is where they were at... I know you lose body heat a lot faster in water, but I don’t know the temperature in Australia at night and how warm their wetsuits would have kept them. Deliriousness from hypothermia could have been why they took off their BCs. No lucid diver would ever remove their BC in that situation, it’s your life vest and keeps you from drowning and holds on to any remaining air you have.
    .
Or... They could have also floated away at night with the current because they lost their bearing in the dark. Salt water begins to destroy the skin quite painfully after a day or so. I could see them being delirious from sun exposure and dehydration and removing everything without thinking because their skin hurts...

It’s very easy to panic in stressful situations. Your adrenaline flows and you quickly are zapped of energy. Floating on the ocean surface with a BC (dive) vest is difficult. The ocean water is constantly slapping you in the face making it difficult to breath. You have to hold your head high and that is difficult. You won’t last long in the ocean. I cringe each time I watch the movie and I am a diver.

Both kept diaries. Tom made an entry saying that "Like a student who has finished an exam I feel that my life is complete and I am ready to die. As far as I can tell, from here my life can only get worse. It has peaked and it's all downhill from here until my funeral." The entry was in character with the rest of his diary.
2 weeks before the dive Eileen wrote "he hopes to die a quick and painless death, and he hopes it happens soon. Tom's not suicidal, but he's got a death wish that could lead him to what he desires and I could get caught in that. Our lives are so entwined now and we are hardly two individuals. I am still Eileen, but I am mostly Eileen and Tom. He is mostly Tom and Eileen. Where we are now goes beyond dependence, beyond love."
So imo, they did not set out on this trip with the mission to commit suicide , but once they found themselves in such a desperate situation, with no rescue after 48 hours and dehydration and hypothermia setting in, suicide became a convenient way to bring his diary entries to an end without leaving evidence of a suicide, which would have destroyed his mother who was a very religious Catholic.
Suicide by stripping off all their gear and drowning themselves .

It's the fact two days passed before they were noticed missing that's getting me.
You can almost hear the couple ensuring each other that a search will start when the boat gets back to shore and their absence will be noticed. Meanwhile everyone else is living their best life without a clue.
