  • Making a table saw sled for making segmented rings for woodturning, based heavily off of Stephen Ogle's design. I've got an upcoming project the requires some segmenting and I've been meaning to do this for some time now.

Okay Dan, Great video, this is something I have been looking at making for a while.....do you have any plans (Dimensions and such) you could share with me? and the space formula you used to find the angles? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Moonpie Creations I don't have any plans materialized, and I'm not sure that I will. I may do a follow-up that describes finding the angles in more detail, but in the mean time I hope this helps.
Imagine a triangle where one side is the adjustable arm (H), another side is a line perpendicular to the saw blade (A) and the last side connects the two (O). The sides (O) and (A) are perpendicular to each other, and it's the angle between (A) and (H) that we're trying to set. The sine function (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sine) relates that angle to the length of the arm (H) and the length of side (O).
There are also other many other methods and other videos on the subject, including this recent one by Paul Jenkins (ua-cam.com/video/PaFgDpx5hjs/v-deo.html).

Wow fingers too close to the blade for my liking.

I like Stephen's version better, he didn't say the word sine one time.
But where did you get the plastic runners?

It's HDPE, and I bought sheets of 1/4" stock of it off of Amazon.
