    Bonjour - I’m super confused by some of the comments here. The story is quite simple. My old French teacher started bullying me from the first class. She started off small - rushing to see what notes I was writing on my tablet during class - and then it got worse - her purposefully and intentionally attempting to humiliate me by saying my accent was impossible to understand. I was the only person she was doing this to in the class. So, rather than have a confrontation with her (because I have better things to do with my life) I left the class. In order to be transferred to another class, I had to speak to the program director and I had to tell her why I wanted to leave the class. And I told the program director the truth! UPDATE: Last week in my new French class I saw a guy from my old French class. He said that he had just transferred out of the old class. I asked him why. He said that every week there were fewer and fewer people. He said that after I left, she started bullying an Asian guy about his accent so he left! He said that she then turned her attention to an Asian girl and so she left. And then, she turned her attention to him and he left! The other American girl in the class who is in a different class with me said that she is also trying to transfer out because the teacher is now bullying her in front of the class. So, please, explain to me, what exactly did I do wrong? If the worst thing you can say is that I didn't talk to her directly then all I have to say is you clearly have never had anyone disturbing your peace. I'm just trying to learn a language, I don't need to be berated or belittled and I don't then need to have an argument with the person who is berating and belittling me. I get to CHOOSE to just walk away and I did just that. No confrontations, no disrespect, just disappearing quietly but ensuring the program head knows the precise reason as to why I left and why this woman is not a very good teacher.

    She sounds like my French teacher in high school. She was always belittling us and if we complained she would call us weak and soft. Then she would go off and tell us we didn’t know what hardship was and how she was in the French resistance and was hiding from the Nazis and that was true hardship! People either loved her or hated her but she was a hoot. I definitely understand though that no one wants to be picked on, so I would have moved on too.

      Good grief ma’am. The thing is no one liked my old teacher. I saw one of the kids from my old class in my new class and he said at least 5 people have left since me.

    Awesome, happy to hear you got into a new class. No one deserves a bully even if they are French & volunteer their services. Sounds like a very unhappy French lady😌

    She is a horrible Teacher and she knows it. I’m sure the head of the programme knows it too. Glad you got out of there.😅 I loved taking classes at the Sorbonne because they had one class a week specifically got prononciation. That changes my speaking to a whole other level. It’s important to hold your moite correctly. Love these stories! You should write a book of short stories.

      Yeah she’s a horrible teacher and knows it. The issue is very much her and not me. My pronunciation is some of the best because I’m more immersed in the culture than most. Could it always be better - yes, but her saying she can’t understand me is just n’importe quoi.

    I quit my classes at my local French alliance partially because of behavior like this. I also quit taking French classes via Lingoda for the same reason. It's tiring. I'm just trying to learn, people. Not get treated like trash.

      Well, multiple other students have left since I did and let’s just say, I think she is a controlling person. For one student she told him he couldn’t just switch classes and that he had to attend 3 sessions with the new teacher while still attending her classes so that SHE could see if he deserved to be in a different class. What level of nonsense is that?!

    I enjoyed this so much! Out of curiosity, was she able to understand the other American?

    • @adrielfelise
      @adrielfelise  Місяць тому +1

      She was able to understand every other person in the class except me. However, another student who left her class and joined my class said that after I left, she started in on another student about his accent, so that student left. And then, after that student left, she started in on this guy and that's why he left and joined my new class.

    I think you should start thinking like this. Theachers name=x. X=nobody. Nobody was rude to me. Nobody looked down on me. Nobody was making fun of me. What I mean I can't take that teater seriously. As you said the woman is an amateur not a professional teacher. Stay strong!

    Hey Adriel! I hate that you have to deal with such a poor teacher. Glad that you did what you needed to do. Can you please give me the name (correct spelling) or website for your French school? I tried googling "Marie" but nothing came up. I'm heading there in March/April 2025 & want to get into the language.

    • @adrielfelise
      @adrielfelise  Місяць тому +1

      So mine is through the mairie aka the town hall so it’s only open to residents. However, you can do Alliance Française in the U.S. French classes in Paris are insanely expensive (hence why I do mine through the mairie) and Alliance Française is insanely expensive in France but their U.S. schools are a much better deal.

      @@adrielfelise Okay! I appreciate the info. I have noticed the prices & was trying to search for a scholarship, but maybe that's more of an American thing because I haven't found any to offset the cost. LOL

    • @adrielfelise
      @adrielfelise  Місяць тому

      @@Trista1983 There are no scholarships. It's just so expensive. The free classes or near-free classes are found at the mairie.

    when someone wants to push your buttons to get a confrontation, I do the same thing, I won't give it. Like I cant be bothered enough to care. Or If someone is begging for excessive attention I won't give it, like you'r wearing a pink dog costume and purple hair for shock and awe, oh well...and?????NEXT!~ LOL

    Adriel - Haven't time to watch the whole video. Sorry to see you're stressed... that's very tough.
    A word of advice - in English, we are careful to get our consonants right, but in French, it's very very important to get the vowels right. Practice those vowels because there are so many variations. In English we twist our vowels all over the place... that's how we recognize which country someone is from. But if you twist French vowels, it sounds like a different word to them. If you fix those vowels, your problems will be gone!!! ;)
    Best of Luck with it! Slan!

    She needs to grow up and then teach others. If she’s not grown up, you be the grown up and get away from this silly juvenile bullying behavior. What would Jesus do? He definitely would not stay in an environment that was lacking rationality..unless for some reason God was urging him to stay for a brief season to get through to someone. But most likely, that’s not the case, it’s just a controlling spirit trying to interrupt you and aggravate. You have no time for that.
