    I loved this video, so fun! I would be very interested on your take of how they dressed the Sylvie Grateau character, I especially like her accessories and am obssessed with her apartment; I know it's a set but I want that apartment.

      @adrielfelise  Місяць тому

      Sylvie is super French and super chic. I would say both Sylvie and Camille's style is very Parisian. Maybe a bit nicer than the average Parisian, but still the style is very much in line with Parisian style. At times, Sylvie's outfits are a bit sexy (like the huge slits up the skirts at work), but there's no shame in that game; be sexy!

    Why does everyone in France criticize Emily as if she was a Parisian? She’s American!! She dresses like she wants she’s not trying to dress as someone she’s not. She doesn’t really know how to dress well but she loves using a lot of color and has fun with clothes.

    • @adrielfelise
      @adrielfelise  3 місяці тому +2

      I presume when you use the term "Parisian" you're referring to a French person because anyone who lives in Paris is a "Parisian." As such, I'm not criticizing Emily as a French person, I'm criticizing Emily as an American.

      @@adrielfelise Pas vraiment… In France Parisians are French people from or living in Paris. You will never hear us speak of an english person, or an american, or whatever nationality not from France as parísians just because they live in Paris. French-American here, born and raised in Paris. What is totally unbearable about Emily in Paris is how she's cosplaying her idea of a French girl. Ok, I'll play...LOL!!! One thing that EIP fails to do is show the evolution of Emily's style on her journey from Chicago to Paris. It's as if she acquired all of this colorful designer clothing in Chi-Town, then burst onto the scene in Paris as a fashionista with no help or inspiration from the French. Really??? It's too bad because I think they missed an opportunity to engage, inspire and influence the audience with regard to identity, cultural influences, self-confidence, conscious consumption, vintage shopping, etc.

    Adriel - say it again - French men do not approach!! I do not even look at them anymore because it's like what's the point - only for them to walk past anyways! Only one time during salsa class, a guy asked me to dance and it shocked the hell out of me haha

    • @adrielfelise
      @adrielfelise  2 місяці тому

      Same thing happened to me at salsa!! During my first trip to France with my brothers my older brother wanted to go to salsa and a guy approached me. My older brother was off dancing and my younger brother & I were awkwardly standing next to each other. I looked at him, he looked at the guy, he nodded, crossed his arms and stared the man down the whole dance. I think the sibling intimidation plus the fact I can’t dance salsa turned him off. Hahaha.

    No the men don't throw themselves at women but they will pinch your ass in the metro, and follow you. Paris isn't nearly as grey as Normandy. I have to disagree with you on the way they dress Emily. That's done on purpose and yes it goes against the grain of having to conform to French standards of dress. That's why she's Emily. we don't expect her to dress like the French.

    • @adrielfelise
      @adrielfelise  4 місяці тому

      Yes, I know they dress her against the grain on purpose. I don’t believe I said that it wasn’t done on purpose, I believe I said that she is dressed in a way made to highlight her otherness & it’s just not a very French way of dressing. And it isn’t. It’s a very American way of dressing & when living in Paris, most people are more apt to try to blend in rather than standing out. Plus she could still stand out with her fashion without it being so loud & American.

      @@HarrisPilton789 Because if anyone is going to be proud of their cultural language, it would be the English to compare to the French. Different factors contribute to the way Americans speak today ( Education, colonization, slavery, immigration, etc.). Americans do speak English properly and probably love speaking English. It just isn't the Queen's English or romanticized like French is. English is more direct and difficult to properly grasp for some. Americans who speak French in Louisiana love speaking French also, but very different from French in France. Doesnt mean they dont love speaking French.🤷‍♀️ I'm done with this topic.
