3dsMax is more for Technicial and blender is more for Artists.. so Blender will never focus their full time to make something as specific but rather get the beauty and flexibility ;)

Our lecturer shared this video to us yesterday in our little WhatsApp group. He said, " there is a little kid explaining 3d on youtube, and he's doing a great job"
You earned my sub. The little smile at the end makes me know how no nonsense the vs maya video would be. Keep it up.

well, i think blender did actually blended both autodesk softwares capabilities and features but not all of them, it still needs more refining in time maybe it'll close some known gaps to be what people are expecting it to do...comparing Max to blender, Max is indeed a behemoth when it comes to modeling, the tools and options are so many somehow harmonized, the modifiers system makes it partially procedural, same with blender but it lack a lot, and a bit limited yet it does quiet the right job.
    - Ui in the other hand Max is getting wacky since it utilizes only one single core witch is weird, so many years passed, autodesk didn't do a things about it, so to have a smooth experience you must have a faster SC Cpu mostly intel are leading the tech field in this matter, but not all of us have the best intel Cpu in the box, as you know they tent to be overpriced. as for blender it works fast out of the box and Maya too. and to not flood the comment with too many words, 3 of them softwares were used in the game industry like blizzard and others...Max for modeling texturing and a bit of rigging CAT...Maya rigging and animation. and blender sometimes modeling, resolves Uv unwrapping issues and other things i may not know about. so it all depends on your needs.
thank you for the vids looking forward for more

Strip modeling (extruding edges into strips or lines of shapes), is the technique that allows someone to model organic objects in 3dsmax with a mesh smooth modifier. It works rather well. But not a well as zbrush.

This is it. An in-depth channel. I knew this was the video I was looking for the moment you mentioned organic and inorganic modeling. Great explanation.
Blender in 5years I doubt would surpass 3ds max. 3ds max is very heavy and strong. It's been stress tested over year's and it's proven it's quality. This is something blender still struggles with because it's not strong. The little pressure, it crushes. Nice break down

Thank you a lot for this breakdown! 🙏🏼 Still I don't think 3dsmax is going to make it into my routine, but ill definitely consider checking some features out or try to morph some of their features! However, all the best for you🎉

V-Ray? Does it ship with Max? No? Then what's it doing in this comparison? You should be comparing Arnold with Cycles. How the hell did V-Ray become synonymous with Max?

Possibly because of their long relationship history.

@@user-fm3xr9yz3i I get that, but every time I download 3D content from sites like Turbosquid, I have to disinfect the file of all that V-Ray garbage even though it's listed as a 3DS Max file format. What a pain in the ass! (I'm just blowing off steam.)

Will giving blender 5 more years to catchup with 3dsmax means by that time max will not advance 5 years too?
3dsmax caters/ focuses on architectural precision, its heavily used in the mid-east regions, cant seem to find a job there looking for blender user for architectural visualizations, i found one but for tv commercial use. If autodesk slowly abandons 3dsmax, what will be their answer to blender in architecture renderings since maya isn’t cutting it?
Im curious about your answers since im learning blender right now from a 3dsmax background.

autodesk is slowly abondeining 3ds max just as they did with mudbox.
blender in the 3d space is a good thing because it keeps other software on thier toes. the indie versions to autodesk products had to come in simply because blender was snatchig thier customers bit by bit
the level of detail. very underrated channel.

Max was abandoned for years and recently is getting finally some atention.
Still it will take time to put some things up to date though.

    • @RaneMstSage

People have been claiming this for years. Unlikely that it's actually being abandoned. While Maya get's more attention Max is still going strong with updates as well as users. Indy opens it up to more people. Also I wouldn't say Mudbox has been abandoned either. They haven't pushed any major updates but for what it does and the price I don't need it to do more especially paired with Max/Maya.

Just because they arent reinventing the wheel every time it doesnt mean it's being abandoned or discontinued, 3ds Max is still the way to go in many industries, mainly architectural design, also in the game industry

I used 3ds Max for more than 17 years. with 4 years of experience with Blender I am pretty sure 3Ds Max Never Ever not gonna hit the Blender even in dream but Blender can bit 3Ds Max performance in time. 3DsMax just a dead software.

@@NevilTan judging by your phrases about 3ds max, you do not have 17 years of experience in this package. I'm telling you this as a person who has this experience.
Only someone who is an amateur in this program can call the 3D package "dead", which is still embedded in the working pipeline of the most famous studios, such as REALTIME UK, ENCORE VFX, BLUR STUDIO and many others. I am more than sure that you have mastered such a wonderful 3D package as a blender at the most basic level. Because if you were really a powerful specialist in these two programs, you would discuss their advantages and disadvantages (of which blender, like max, has a huge number), and not say nonsense that 3ds max is "dead".
