Awesome video! just purchased my Armstrong 5.5m wing and have been shopping around for a board. Hoping to get a good deal on a 120L board this holiday season.

Nice! Is this your first set-up! 120L is a great size.

Thanks to be a good beginner guide… Here are few questions I will be pleased if you can comment in. 1- I will start and foil at a lake which is 500 meter higher than sea level. Normally I buy my windsurf gear 1m square bigger compering to sea level as air molecules are less effective… any guess to compensate this ? Our wind level is 10 to 20 during summer level… But believe me sea level 10 and my lake 10 is not the same. Second solty water and lake water lifting capacity for foil? If you can comment in 2 items it would be fantastic…

Hi CEM. I'd say you'll be in a similar place as normal recommendations. It doesn't make a difference when it comes to salt vs fresh water. It's not about buoyancy but more so speed to get the foil up. As a beginner you'll have a hard time getting up in anything less than 15 knots. I would recommend just following the buying guide I suggested and I'm sure you'll be good to go!

Good explanation and advice. I am new in foiling as well, my weight 65 kg. I just bought a naish hover carbon ultra with 95 l. What naish foil would you suggest and in what size for me. I also go out between 10 and 15 knots on a lake. I tried out 2 times with some renting material. As I have long windsurfing experience I had no issue to go with the board and wing but I didn't manage to get up on the foil, to less speed without pumping. It was a 1800 F-one gravity foil if I remember well.

Definitely get a foil that has a from wing of 1800cm2 or more in surface area. That will help for the light conditions making it easier to get up on foil.

Thanks for sharing your experience. This is really helpful. I started to learn on an SUP and a 4m wing and It is time to get a board and a foil. I see you are sailing in Vancouver same like me :) Is this Jericho Beach? And are your recommendations for locations that are beginners friendly near Vancouver? Also if you know any facebook groups to buy used gear, this will be super helpful. Thanks a lot 🙏

Hey Omar, jericho is a great spot that's super beginner friendly. Only downside is the wind isn't super consistent so you just have to watch that forecast. I'd keep an eye on Facebook market place. Also check the buy and sell on KiteboardBC. Hope that helps and look forward to seeing you on the water!
