Yes, the biggest reason I purchased this mic is for 2 reasons actually. 1. it has a special cable that allows you to power it with a standard USB from a laptop or pc (Other studio condenser mics require a separate phantom power supply wich are $50 and up) and 2. the mic is plug and play with no drivers required at all.
I would say that the sound quality is comparable but I think that there are a few things that edge this mic up a bit more than the CAD u37. One of the biggest benefits of this mic is that it does not require any drivers to operate so it literally works on any operating system as long as you have a mic input. Also both the cad u37 and its mic stand are made of plastic. This mic is spun aluminum and the mic is also metal and sturdy. Very close but I prefer this mic over the cad u37.
hey man, would appreciate if you could help me here!!! I ordered the same exact unit like that, it wasn't working (at least to what I thought), then had to refund it and order another same unit and I just received it now. It's still not working!!! I don't know if the mics are broken or if I just don't know how to make it work!!! I'm so frustrated right now. I hope you can help me with this man. thanks in advance!
Hi, I have the exact unit. My laptop can't seem to detect it at all. Am I doing something wrong? Like what you said and as to what the product promises, it is just a plug-and-play device, so I really don't understand why it won't work that easily.
Yes, that is how I use it. I would suggest downloading an audio software like audacity (it's free to download and use, just google it) and make sure that the mic is selected when you do your recording.
+crazygamerz Thank you for watching and your comment! The answer to that is that it depends on what you are using to record. My laptop has two separate 3.5mm inputs, one for a mic and one for headphones. Some computers, laptops, and tablets, have only one 3.5mm input that is both mic and headphones combined. So, if you have a device that has separate inputs for mic and headphones then yes you can. If you only have a single combo input, you may want to look into a headset with mic combo.
+NanosMx Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment as well. To answer your question, the short answer is yes. There are obviously better microphones than this one that would be better suited for recording music but at $30 this mic will be a huge step up from other non condenser mics. I would say that no matter what you use this microphone for, I would use a sound editing software such as Audacity to record and normalize your vocals. Audacity is a free software that I use everyday and it works great if you don't already have a program for doing this. Just look it up on google if you want to try it out. Anyway, I hope this helps you decide, let me know if you have anymore questions. Thanks again!
+Social Wood Works Thanks for your fast response, I appreciate it! I'm sorry if I can explain how much this help me, but my English it's not so good haha by the way, can you tell my if I would need a driver or just plug it in and start recording? Thanks!
+NanosMx - This particular mic is literally plug and play so you do not need any drivers to use this mic. I think it is the best condenser mic out right now in this price range.
+BroMM Yes you can definitely use a boom with this mic. The stand that comes in the kit will not mount directly onto a boom but I wouldn't suggest mounting it to a boom without a shock mount anyway. You can get a universal shock mount and boom for super cheap on Amazon. Here is a list of some great ones to choose from: amzn.to/1Vi6u8O
With a $30 price tag it isn't going to have the same quality as the pricey studio condenser mics but I think that it has great sound quality for the price. I run mine through Audacity (free audio editing software. Google it) and you are able to adjust everything from clipping to reverb. With all that said, I think that this mic is suitable for musical recordings. Hope this helped and thanks for watching!
Thank you, this was really helpful! If anyone would like to check out my channel and maybe advise me what mic they think would be best suited for my voice/music, that would be great and I'd really appreciate it! :D
Yes absolutely you can use this mic for both Skype and game plays. One of the biggest reasons I bought this particular condenser mic is because it does not require phantom power nor does it require any software drivers. Hope this helps you decide and thank you for watching!
So i am getting this microphone. but i would like a arm stand. Do you a suggestion for a arm stand that will fit with the microphone? thank you for helping me choose the microphone. I liked and subscribed
+NebulaNinja - No it doesn't come with a power supply because it doesn't need one. It gets it's power from the USB plug. No phantom power needed for this mic at all.
Wow that would be terrible but not all reviews are accurate. I'd be willing to bet that if that did in fact happen to someone, it was probably a user error. I've been using mine for over a year in more than one computer and I have never experienced any issues.
Great video! I just got my mic, but somehow it doesn't work on my laptop. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T420 and when I plugged it in, there was no reaction. I couldn't find the device among the "recording devices" either. I'm having a feeling that my laptop only works with USB only mics, or USB headsets. Should I return the product?
Thanks for your comment Robert! I am not familiar with that model laptop but the mic should work as long as the jack you plug it into is a microphone jack or a headphone / mic combo jack. I am also assuming that you have the usb plugged in as well for power. Your laptop won't recognize the mic by its type or model because there are no drivers required. You just need to make sure that you have the input selected instead of the internal mic. The lables may differ depending on computer and operating system. One thing I would highly recommend is using an audio editing software called Audacity. It is a free tool that has so many cool features and I use it everytime I record. Just type in Audacity in google and download it from their site or cnet. You can test the mic by plugging it in and from the mic input drop down menu, select one of the few input options and do a test recording. Do this until you find the right input. Sorry if this sounds complicated, it really is pretty simple. I think I will make a quick screen cast video to explain this process.
thanks for the awesome review mate , ill try saving now :D! but another question , does this microphone compatible with those microphone stand where you install the microphone stand in your desk and place it under your head?
Hi. Great review. I am looking for a microphone that will pick up more than just myself for group gameplay videos and streaming. How is the audio pick up with regards to distance and direction for multiple voices? (I hope my question makes sense). Thank you.
+Cmdr Embryo Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! That is a great question and it makes sense as well. This particular microphone has a Cardioid pick up pattern which basically means that it is made for picking up sounds in front of the microphone. So, in that regard, this mic is probably not ideal for your needs. I would suggest a microphone that has an omni-directional pick up pattern which means that it picks up sound from all directions. Some mics even have a selector switch which allows you to use either mode. I would suggest something more suitable for teleconferencing and gaming. Checkout this mic on Amazon -> amzn.to/1NUA7HH This mic can also be daisy-chained together with multiple mics as well. I hope this helps but if you have anymore questions please feel free to ask.
Debating on this one or the BM-800. Some people say this one is decent for the price and others saying it's not very well. Your video and other people's mic tests sound good I'm just wondering about the power supply. May I ask how you hooked it up? Just usb and and 3.55 jack right? I shouldn't need an adapter or anything?
+Connor Villareal This mic and the BM-800 are very similar in quality. It is a cheap upgrade from standard mics and this one does not need any extra adapters or drivers. Just usb for power and 3.5mm mic input jack. I still think that this mic is well worth the $30 I paid for it. I always suggest to everyone to play around with the mic and test different gain levels via Audacity or a similar program. Thanks for watching!
Hey thanks for watching and your comment. I personally use a program called "audacity". You can do so much with this software and it is totally free to download. Just google audacity and you can also find 100s of instructional videos on youtube of how to use it.
Thank you for the video, I was searching for this mic prices on both Amazon and eBay and wanted to know if it was worth the price or not, it looks and sounds good to me. :)
The cable comes with a 3.5mm mic jack and a usb plug on one end and a standard microphone jack on the other end. That is all you need to use. USB for power and 3.5mm for the mic input. No drivers or anything else needed.
Can I use this to achieve great sounds of guitar? I'm planning to record my acoustic guitar playing with a simple setup that wouldn't cost me a fortune and this one seems very fine to me. Of course I'm not trying to achieve the very high end quality like the professionals, but at least I want it to be crystal clear sounds. Can this mic works for me? Can you give me some opinions? I would appreciate it.
+laughfever Thank you so much for watching! I think that this mic would be perfect for your needs. For $30 it really is a steal and provides great sound quality for the price.
+György Halmágyi I don't think that this mic would be a good choice to use with a mixer. It has it's own cable so I don't think you can use an XLR jack cable with it.
+György Halmágyi Yes it does have an XLR jack on one side but I am not familiar with the circuitry of the mic so I didn't want to tell you that it would work with out being sure. Thank you so much for watching!
Can you help me please?! I bought this mic and when i plugged it in to my MacBook air a notification comes up saying "unplug the accessory using too much power." and that the the usb has been disabled. And I'm not able to find the mic in garage band or the computer settings. What can i do to stop this? If i get phantom power will that help??
I recently purchased not really sure how to set up, I have done everything you have done but still seems not to work. Is there a program I should be using on Windows? Thank you
+JiJi Koreano It stands for Universal Serial Bus. This is a good article about what a USB port is and how to use it. --> compnetworking.about.com/od/usbnetworking/p/usb-port.htm
I mean i have windows 8 and it doesnt have a microphone plug hole. It only has a headphone plug hole so will it still work with the usb plug into the computer
This is a stupid question, but I've never owned a microphone like this, and I'm curious, does it echo like microphones that you would use on a stage? Or...?
I bought this mic and I want to know if I have to just use my headphone jack and the usb with my turtle beach and with the mic I use the the sub and the mic jack is that how I set it up?
I am not familiar with what a turtle beach is but the usb is simply to power the mic, all of the audio is picked up from the 3.5mm mic/headphone jack. So if I understand your question correctly, yes you need to plug in the usb to somethi g to power it up and plug the mic jack into a 3.5mm mic input. I hope I got that right?
That is certainly weird and this is the first time I have heard of something like this happening. The only thing I would suggest doing is making sure that all of your connections are secure because noises like that usually occur when there is some sort of interference.
+The MemeMaster Have you tried recording? Mine did not pop up on the computer but I tried recording and could tell the difference of the sound quality (compared to my computer's built-in mic) right away.
Would i be able to plug this USB into my computer and plug the 3.5mm jack into my camera and record that way, that way when i edit it will automatically be synced?
I purchased the very same mic and I can't get it to work on my computer! Is there anyway you can help? I only have one audio jack on my computer (has a headset and microphone symbol on it. Does this mean I need to get a Y Audio adapter??
The blue snowball is by far a better mic but it is not under the $50 price point. If you have the budget to spend the $70 I would go for the blue mic...
Do you know if the mic works for windows 10? Because I checked in amazon for the reviews (as I always do before I buy) and someone said and put a video of the mic and it was awful there was a loud ringing and other noises please respond.
+TazzyPlayz I have both windows 7 and Windows 10 and the mic works great for me. I haven't experienced any problems with this mic so far. The only thing I would suggest is playing around with the gain (volume knob) of the mic. If you have it too high you will experience clipping but that will happen with any microphone. Thank you so much for watching and for your comment!
I want to start a New Beatboxing channel and I am looking fir some good microphones.. So i want ti ask whether this mic is an ideal choice?? 😅😅 plzzz do answer me
Bought one that only plain mic, has no knobs, only XLR to 3.5mm, no microphone stand, need phantom power to run. I hate myself for not doing a little research :(
Yes, the biggest reason I purchased this mic is for 2 reasons actually. 1. it has a special cable that allows you to power it with a standard USB from a laptop or pc (Other studio condenser mics require a separate phantom power supply wich are $50 and up) and 2. the mic is plug and play with no drivers required at all.
So can you use this mic on a laptop?
+The Nameless Yes as long as you have a usb port and a mic input. I use this mic on my laptop everyday. =)

I'm lucky I bought this because the sound is fantastic and its louder thx for the review
Thank you! I'm buying this mic now! as well as a pop filter if i lose the one that came with the mic! also with a suspension arm stand
Wow this mic sounds fantastic.I'm gonna be getting it soon:)
can u use it for phone
Hey I found a similar one on ebay do you think I should buy it
this mic is super super good a friend of mine has on that cost him £200+ that sounds very similar to this one definitely going to get one
Great video man!
Can I use this mic while recording videos on my pc? cant seem to get it to work
Yes, that is how I use it. I would suggest downloading an audio software like audacity (it's free to download and use, just google it) and make sure that the mic is selected when you do your recording.
Do u use both cables so u put in 2 of the cables in when using it or is it one of your choice?
Is this good for voice recording for songs??
do u have to use the usb cable or no
Hey i really like your video and I will take the advise also can you have headphones plugged in aswel as the mic as I have iMac

if so you could you give me a link to a wireless pc headset thanks again!
Can I use this microphone to record my songs? something like Hip Hop.

+Social Wood Works It's all I wanted to ear, very thankful! Greetings from Mexico.
Did You Use Any Audio Interfaces,Or Did You Just Put It Directly Microphone Input?
When you first get it is it supposed to charger ?
is this working only in laptop/pc?
Can you connect this to a ps4?
Do u have to buy an adapter for the 3 and a half jack so u can connect it to the computer ?
Is there a shock mount usable with this? Or an arm stand?
Can you use a boom arm on the microphone?
+BroMM Yes you can definitely use a boom with this mic. The stand that comes in the kit will not mount directly onto a boom but I wouldn't suggest mounting it to a boom without a shock mount anyway. You can get a universal shock mount and boom for super cheap on Amazon. Here is a list of some great ones to choose from: amzn.to/1Vi6u8O
Hi, so is the USB to power it ?
I seen a lot of comments about the need fr some power box !!
How would you connect multiple of this microphone to a computer?
can you put a shock mount on this
Silly question but can this be used on mobile phones and tablets
How did u plugged it in ? Did u put both ( usb and audio jack) in your computer
?
Is this good for singing?

this mic is perfect for me ! i am getting this
you made me bro I had brought this seen last week and it's really good thank you
Can you use the mic on a laptop without any adapters?
is this microphone good for singing???
has this mic test had audio/settings changed at all?
So can i use this microphone for skype or recording gameplays? And does it work without phantom power?
Yes absolutely you can use this mic for both Skype and game plays. One of the biggest reasons I bought this particular condenser mic is because it does not require phantom power nor does it require any software drivers. Hope this helps you decide and thank you for watching!
Thanks for this info and fast reply and i also like this mic because it doesn't require phantom power :)
what shock mount would i use for this microphone?
+Tagged 69 You can actually use any universal shock mount with this mic. Here is a list of a bunch that you can choose from: amzn.to/1U98OxH
what about the buttons??? wouldn't it interfere with the shock mount?
I see your concern but I think you can still attach the mount just below the bottom dial.
Can this be used for Skype calls? Cheers.
So i am getting this microphone. but i would like a arm stand. Do you a suggestion for a arm stand that will fit with the microphone? thank you for helping me choose the microphone. I liked and subscribed
+OutgoingZeusHD Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! I would suggest the Pyle PMKSH04 suspension boom -> amzn.to/1UMNIp5
Thanks I BOUGHT it and its shipping right now!! thanks alot
does this come with a power supply
+NebulaNinja - No it doesn't come with a power supply because it doesn't need one. It gets it's power from the USB plug. No phantom power needed for this mic at all.
ok I read some reviews on amazon saying that it burns out computers4
Wow that would be terrible but not all reviews are accurate. I'd be willing to bet that if that did in fact happen to someone, it was probably a user error. I've been using mine for over a year in more than one computer and I have never experienced any issues.
Ok thank you I heard some comments were saying that if you don't plug in the mic cable that is the problem. do you use this mic in all of your videos.
They were using laptops
Great video! I just got my mic, but somehow it doesn't work on my laptop. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T420 and when I plugged it in, there was no reaction. I couldn't find the device among the "recording devices" either. I'm having a feeling that my laptop only works with USB only mics, or USB headsets. Should I return the product?
Thanks for your comment Robert! I am not familiar with that model laptop but the mic should work as long as the jack you plug it into is a microphone jack or a headphone / mic combo jack. Can you use the 3.5mm Jack instead of the usb to get the mark started up? Or do you just need the usb and it reads the mic?
+DelusionalRickyGaming The USB is to power up the mic and the actual output from the mic is the 3.5mm jack. So for this mic you need both.
+Social Wood Works thanks for the reply ! Ordered this on Amazon :D
thanks for the awesome review mate , ill try saving now :D!
but another question , does this microphone compatible with those microphone stand where you install the microphone stand in your desk and place it under your head?
does this microphone need a sound card or phantom power?
how do turn it on i got the same microphone
Do you need to plug in the 3.5 mm microphone jack as well as the usb or can you only plug in the usb?
Does this work for recording musical vocals?
+Kovács Gergely - It would work for vocals. With that said, at $30 you can expect too much from this mic as far as producing perfect vocals.
is there a headphone plug on the mic
Hi. Can it be plugged to an interface with phantom power via XLR cable instead of using the USB cable provided?
Hi. Great review.
I am looking for a microphone that will pick up more than just myself for group gameplay videos and streaming. How is the audio pick up with regards to distance and direction for multiple voices? (I hope my question makes sense). Thank you.

I have the Samson Go mic and I love it too. Great little mic. Good choice.
hey i got this mic what software do u use to record on it

I really need to know if this works on an iMac
Can I plug this into my iPad? And record it?
This mic will work on any 3.5mm jack but you will also need a usb port as well to provide power for the mic.
you can take a wire that change the micro usb to(regular) usb and then you can use it forr record
is it for macbook because i have it
thats a nice microphone i should probally get those as a gift to my dad
Is that MIC can be used whit a mixer? I mean can i use it whit XLR - Jack cable?
+György Halmágyi I don't think that this mic would be a good choice to use with a mixer. It has it's own cable so I don't think you can use an XLR jack cable with it.
+Social Wood Works
Maybe you're right but this cable is a XLR - jack, usb. Anyway thanks

is this best for Rapping??

+IronMech Dragon You need the jack as well
I recently purchased not really sure how to set up, I have done everything you have done but still seems not to work. Is there a program I should be using on Windows? Thank you
Can I use this mic on MAC?
Yes. This mic works on any platform as long as you have a usb port and a 3.5mm mic input.

+Go Travelling The begining portion of the recording was done using the microphone and you can hear it again at around 5:35 of the video as well.
Does it work for ios
tell me if I'm wrong.. can I just plug only the usb and it will work OR I have to buy a usb to mic jack to make it work?
Can one use this mic for professional voice overs? I know it is a cheap mic, but still.
+Maneb Expert Well I use it for voice overs. I am not a professional voice over specialist but it works great for what I need it for.
Thanks for your reply! I hope it will be useful in my life as well. What soft do you use? Audacity? -)
+Maneb Expert You are welcome! And yes, Audacity. =)
Aha, this is a cool piece of software. Installed it recently. It is quite useful!
Can it be used for FaceTime calls? :)
+D. ROJ-L I haven't tested it on an iphone or ipad yet. I am almost positive it would work as long as you had usb power to plug it into.
bro this mic is nice I will but but I have a doubt this mic records background noise pls reply

I NEED TO KNOW THE NAME OF THIS EXACT CABLE! THE ONE WITH USB AND JACK TO XLR PLEASE I CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE!!
Hey, do you know if this would work for recording into an iPhone? Like into GarageBand or similar? I'm assuming yes because it has a mic input
The mic will work as long as you have a usb plug for power and a 3.5mm mic input.
i got the micophone. but i dont know how to set it up? PLEASE HELP. may you do a tutorial
I will try to make a tutorial this weekend.
Thanks :D
I bought this mic and I want to know if I have to just use my headphone jack and the usb with my turtle beach and with the mic I use the the sub and the mic jack is that how I set it up?
I am not familiar with what a turtle beach is but the usb is simply to power the mic, all of the audio is picked up from the 3.5mm mic/headphone jack. So if I understand your question correctly, yes you need to plug in the usb to somethi g to power it up and plug the mic jack into a 3.5mm mic input. I hope I got that right?
thank's :)
When I plug it in my laptop and set it up it makes a high pitched screeching noise
That is certainly weird and this is the first time I have heard of something like this happening. The only thing I would suggest doing is making sure that all of your connections are secure because noises like that usually occur when there is some sort of interference.
+Social Wood Works thank you it only stops making the noise if I have headphones plugged in
I wanna do UA-cam covers.... This this mic worth it ? I don't wanna buy a mic time and again please reply
yes
I plug this mic in any I dont think there is any power going to it. I have both ports plugged in and the mic still isnt showing up on both of my PCs.
Yes of course. The usb is simply for power. That is actually a good idea. It will save you time editing for sure.
I purchased the very same mic and I can't get it to work on my computer! Is there anyway you can help? I only have one audio jack on my computer (has a headset and microphone symbol on it. Does this mean I need to get a Y Audio adapter??
This mic or the blue snowball?
Thanks so much!
I don't know how to set it up please make a tutorial thx
I want to start a New Beatboxing channel and I am looking fir some good microphones..
So i want ti ask whether this mic is an ideal choice?? 😅😅

Mine sounds hollow. I've decided to sell it. I've watched many video and asked around for help, but, no improvement.
Does it work on ps4
I need a new cable for mine. Anybody know where to get a mic cable with a usb and min jack plug?
try to find it on Amazon I don't know
greetings from Serbia
Can be used for karaoke?
+Supagal Simmi I am sure it can be. As long as you have a usb port to use for power, the mic can be used in any application.
My macbook isnt picking up the mic even though both ports are plugged in, anyone know how to solve this?
my laptop only has a headphone plugin...I'm betting that is going to be a problem...
Bought one that only plain mic, has no knobs, only XLR to 3.5mm, no microphone stand, need phantom power to run. I hate myself for not doing a little research :(
