    I actually use this mic. A couple things that would help those who want to use it:
    1. Instead of plugging into the USB port on your computer, plug the USB power into an actual 120vac to USB 7.4vdc wall power adapter to give it more dc power than if it were plugged into the PC. It does provide better quality sound output.
    2. Don't use the regular foam head that comes with it, but get a higher quality pop filter.
    And yes, I do use the echo feature for gags in some of my Let's Plays.

    Haven't tested it yet, wanted to see how it was powered. I am hoping that I can get a little more reverb out of this than I can with audio software. I sing online karaoke and the software they use for reverb is okay but sometimes I need just a pinch more. I have that function on my home machine and it's awesome. Some songs you don't need any, some you need more for the flow.
    The thing is, with reverb, you don't need much. Like when you turned it up all the way, never a need for that.
    But I bought this microphone particularly for the reverb setup, so although "you" see no need for it, you must not be a singer.
    I have better microphones but wanted to try this for the reverb.
    Thanks for making the video, appreciate the info.

    the cable that goes with this microphone, can you test it with the bm 800.
    i meant the cable with the usb and the 3,5 jack.
    does it work better than the sabrent usb, could you test it going into a microphone input without power going into the 3,5 jack.
    so the power provided only thru the usb.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  9 років тому

      +Bert-pd3ct I do not have a way of doing that. I don't have any computers with a microphone input so the only way of hooking up a microphone is through the USB Soundcards which all provide power. That is a very interesting idea though.

    • @pd3ct
      @pd3ct 9 років тому +1

      +Podcastage how much voltage does the usb cable provide???
      if you test the cable whit the Audio Technica ATR2USB.

      maybe i could make D.I.Y cable with usb power, same as the bm-100 fx

    i agree about the effects if they want to add effects they should add one of the most used effects like compression, but great video just saved me 30 bucks that i was gonna spend on this mic for my kid but think i will find something a little better now :)

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  9 років тому

      +TwentyOneSumthin Compression would have made this mic work much more than $30 to me and most people. I think the reason that they didn't, could be because there are so many components in compression (threshold, makeup gain, attack, release, ratio, knee)...AHA!...here's what they could do. They could have a knob with 4 different selections for 4 different settings of compression for 4 different kinds of sound source, that would make this mic A LOT more valuable. Well, I'm glad you found the video helpful, and that we just came up with a million dollar mic idea. =) Have a great day.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  9 років тому

      +Knucklehead Plays I can't justify making another video for that. I should have done that in this review. It's pretty useless in my eyes though because it only allows you to adjust the level of delay. It does not allow you to adjust the timing or length of echo/delay.

    Maybe this mic has enough gain to work with the line in? Line in requires around 100x the voltage of a mic input but it's super clean because it doesn't do any preamp. The preamp on most mic inputs are garbage even when it's a $3000 laptop.

    I had this mic in my cart and decided to looked up some videos on it to see if its really what i want. I like how you do reviews, the showing distances and keyboard sound pickup was really what i was looking for. Now i have a question, i am looking to get into streaming and need a mic that wont pick up my very loud mechanical keyboard. At the end you said you can get a better one for cheaper. What would you recommend for a mic for game streaming? right now my budget is about 50 - 60 bucks, not a lot i know. I have this mic and a scissor arm stand. and that totals to about $40 which is well in my range, but if you can offer something better i would be very grateful. :)

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  9 років тому

      +LaughOut OutLoudGaming I am uncertain. I did not do that. The way I have it set up is I plugged the USB into an unpowered USB Hub and then the 3.5mm into a USB Soundcard. I do not understand that logic either...a quick google search shows that a phones charger provides 5v of power. That is the same amount of voltage provided by USB 1, 2, and 3. I did test the voltage on this cable by just plugging in the USB portion and I got very strange results implying 0 volts making it to the microphone. I do not know what to tell you.

      Two standard sizes 5/8" and 3/8". You may need to pick up a 5/8" to 3/8" adapter, and then it would work.

      +RaitonGG I would recommend getting a USB Sound Adapter at a minimum. Or if you want good audio, an audio interface like the Xenyx 302USB for the BM800. For the BM-100, I'd recommend getting the microphone as well as a Sabrent USB Audio Adapter.

      +Podcastage I have a little thingy that changes mic and headphones to usb, is that it? will that draw more power??? nice! it costed me 2€ in a chinese store so... please tell me that is it because a phantom power source is way to expensive xD

    • @Podcastage

      It depends on each individual USB Audio Adapter (ua-cam.com/video/DuLABU6tI7Q/v-deo.html). So you will get different voltages with every different adapter, and that will severely effect the audio quality you get. Hope you got one that sounds good.

    Hi Bandrew. I've had this microphone for a while now and up till now i've been hooking it up to my macbook using a usb soundcard with no problems. Recently however i've gotten a usb mixer which i use for a dynamic microphone but can't seem to use it with the bm100fx's weird usb/3.5 cable. After some quick browsing on the web i've found that my particular mixer is able to provide 15V of phantom power through the female xlr mic input. Could you possibly upload a test video to the Podcastage 2 channel seeing if this mic will work using an xlr to xlr cable hooked up to a usb mixer which provides power? It would be much appreciated.
    I'm using a Behringer Xenyx Q502 USB mixer btw. Thanks :D

    Hello @Podcastage and all BM-100FX owners. I have a problem that I haven't found a solution yet - namely the included xlr cable -> usb / mini jack has stopped working. In addition, such a cable cannot be ordered separately anywhere. I tried xlr -> usb but it didn't work. Today I tried with an external SYBA USB sound card and an xlr -> mini jack cable and the only thing you can hear is a slight noise. Have any of you solved this problem?
