I hope they're actually brave enough to touch on the Professor's profound Christian faith this time. They treated it like an embarrassing secret in the last biopic, which is absolutely ludicrous...you simply can't address or understand Tolkien's work without understanding the worldview that informed it.
Considering Angel Studios is making it, I'm sure they'll give it a good amount of spotlight to Tolkien's and Lewis's faith.
Well said. I completely agree and am excited to see what they do with this. If done properly, it will be a highly engaging tale.
I was disappointed when the 2019 movie didn't include CSL and the Inklings... hopefully this one does better
I'm excited for this film too. I got to see a Proof of concept in the Angel guild six months to a year ago. I think it has a lot of potential and it will bring out the faith element. You can watch the proof of concept now if you join the angel Guild.
Angel Studios is a trademark of quality content. I trust in them.
They are hit or miss like every other company
@@just_delightful I know they are not woke and that's enough for me. I can forgive a few inaccuracies, but I wouldn't forgive them if they twists the personalities of these two gentlemen.
The only things I've seen from them are "Sound of Freedom", "Tutle Twins" and "The Wing Feather Saga"...... from all that, Tutle Twins is the only one I didn't like; it's not terrible, but it's just sooo booooring, it doesn't know whether it wants to be an educational show or a generic cartoon comedy and it's very similar in a way to that new DailyWire cartoonthat EVERYONE is hating for just being "anti woke" example woke media: every I don't like is a Nazi!! TT: everyone I don't like is a communist!!.
Wing Feather is a lot better, I haven't read the original books, but from what I've seen, the world is very immersing and the characters are all very well characterized and the animation is spectacular as well as the art style. My only criticism so far would be, that the action scenes are *too tamed* like they don't want to scare the parents away.
I was looking forward to the last film by the same director of Sound of Freedom, but I missed the theatrical run..... since, unlike the latter, it didn't get any "free publicity." 😐
This has the potential to be very good
I'm cautiously optimistic about this one 😮
Sounds interesting: thanks for the heads-up! 😊
I wonder how much of the wider picture we'll get: for example, Lewis's *reaction* to Stapledon (on a faith level) was a primary factor in kicking off the whole cascade that resulted in CSL's & JRRT's works and it would take mere seconds to add such (important) context to the film...
Been a while…. I should watch Shadowlands again…
Without Tolkien, there is no Lewis.
Without Lewis, there is no Tolkien.
The author of _Dymer_ would never have succeeded. As a Christian, Lewis became a world-famous apologist and novelist. Tolkien was the major force (by the power of God) in that.
Tolkien probably wouldn't have gone beyond _The Hobbit_ without Lewis. Tolkien was Niggle! He never would've finished LotR (if he would even have properly begum it!) without Lewis's friendly hints, encouragement, and (frankly) nagging.
I'm interested in _Beowulf,_ the Pearl Poet, and so forth, so I would've encountered scholarly Tolkien anyway, and I might even have scored a copy of _The Hobbit_ (which would no longer be in print), but would I have ever found _The Smith of Wootton Major_ or his other short stories? No _Silmarillion,_ to say nothing of the other works Christopher compiled. What would he have done with his life?
I actually do trust Angel do get this right. In fact, they're about the only ones I would trust for this.
Is this the short film of the same title that was directed by Paul Syrstad and completed in 2023? Is this a feature-length film that expands upon the previous work?
