I liked the Ibanez better except for the last riff, where I felt like the Dingwall had more clarity and note definition.
Thank you for the comparison, I am trying to decide which one to get and you helped a lot.

Good comparison. Both sound good, just a bit different from each other. That said, the NG3 5-string is $2620 on Sweetwater, with the BTB605MS coming in at $1300. Is the NG3 $1300 better? Twice as good, literally? Nah. Unless you're a Nolly obsessor or a Dingwall fanboy, I think the Ibanez wins. And for even more metal look and better features, the BTB805MS is only $1450. Having just played the BTB805MS for a while, I don't see how you can't NOT pick that bass (or the BTB605MS) compared to a Dingwall.
Also: The Dingwall NG and Combustion series are made in China, whereas the BTB basses are made in Indonesia, for those who like to obsess over those things.

I managed to try a Dingwall when I was looking for a 5 string MS.Tried the Combustion after listening to tons of videos.
Sounded - the same as all Dingwalls - Couldn't find a reason to spend 1000€ more than a Fender and a Yamaha (non MS) I had tried that day.
Asked for the 605MS.. they gave me the looks like Ibanez was the root of all evil. Took a leap and a chance at a 30 day no questions money back and ordered the BTB806MS. Beast of a Bass. Tons of tones, beautiful, comfortable and unique. Didn't look back since then.

People should quit caring where their instruments come from, is it good? Then good lol.

Excellent comparison man! Both sound fantastic - but you have to keep in mind the difference in price tag. That BTB really is a fantastic value, especially comparing it to other basses in the same price range like a Solar...

Thanks for the review comparison. My feedback is going to be somewhat bias I have owned several Ibanez currently own a BTB 806 MS and love it no complaints. Have not yet owned a Dingwall . I am an open minded person both basses great quality and craftsmanship. Both great tools for getting music across. Both sound awesome. If I had to choose one to have in studio and play live shows. It would have to be the Ibanez for what you get for the money. SS frets, a zero fret, a three way mids selector, active passive controls, just by listening to your comparison I like the sound of the Ibanez better.

I do feel the dingwall sounds better, but the Ibanez to me however, looks better. I think almost everyone feels the same about the price difference.

In a live situation, you would hear a lot more dynamics from the Dingwall! Ibenez sounds a lot better on UA-cam….if that makes sense!!

no doubt, the pickups on the dingwall are better.

Hey bro, could you give me some suggestions for string sets for the Ibanez BTB605MS? I could really use some help with that.

@@chuckm6721 For standard tuning the Dingwall 5 string sets should be easily available everywhere. You also have Payson strings, I've used them for different tunings. They have sets with different gauges and custom sets for drop tunings etc. Good luck!

The dingwall sounds mid scooped to me, especially when he plays the power chords the dingwall disappears

how about ibanez btb805?which is more cost-effective, 805 or 605

@@yaboyabo-y8n 805 just has some different woods. I'd say the 605 is more cost effective.
