It would be nice to see how things are done and not just showing what the parts look like after the various processes. I feel like I still don't have a solid understanding of how to do the individual processes.

Ever since Casey Neistat, people just imitate that style. Not that it's always a bad thing to get started by emulating, but everyone uses that style and it is unfortunately kind of over used.

You are supposed to clean the old grease out and use the whole pack of grease. I just ordered new boots for a Mitsubishi Eclipse because one split and slung some grease on a test drive for the brakes. I would put all new boots and grease since if your car is old and one boot split that is an indicator that the other ones are probably hardened and susceptible to splitting. I would at least put new grease and two new boots on the side being repaired since you already have the axle off the car. Each new boot I purchased came with its own pack of grease. Thanks for the video!

would this process be similar for a 2014 Subaru Outback OEM Front CV Axle? since I accidentally tore a small hole while using a punch to knock the control arm ball joint... a little grease grease came out... car is still in the drive way so at this point pull out the axle and replace the boot or replace entire axle...I'm not in a hurry since I can use my other cars...

    • @dochero2005

Extremely unlikely - it's more likely your driveshaft being incorrectly fitted or the reluctor ring / abs sensor becoming defective. The CV joint is designed to transmit the rotation at constant velocity, it would be rattly and loose if it were causing an abs fault

Icy Kid replacing your drive axle after a few more thousand miles due to all the dirt that got in after driving around with a torn boot for so long is ultimately less economical. Replace the boot if the axle is relatively new. If it has over 100k, just replace the axle so that you're not doing this job twice within a short span of time.
