Hi Gael, Rob here super video! To correct my tip about sticking to one setup: It’s not always the best! If you really want to get good in tricks and carving and exactly knowing how your foil behaves sticking to one is the best option. But… for the ability to pump universal, so all kinds of setups, you will have to start testing and trying out new setups. If you keep changing your gear you will eventually stop thinking about foot-placement and stuff like this, you will just stay correct naturally. So if you have one setup you really like, or it’s the only one you got and you stick to it it will be as you said like walking. And then you try a new setup you won’t like it in the beginning because it aren’t your legs and they don’t walk the same, even to they are the legs of a pro athlete. So if you stay with one setup keep in mind that new foils will mostly feel weird at first but after a few sessions and trying your old foil again you will definitely notice the pros and cons way better. Hope to have not confused you too much😅 greeting from la swiss Rob❤
Hi there! Thanks Gael for your great input! I would add to the question of the foot placement lateral in the Y axis, that it add a lot not only in stability but in manoeuvrability ! Both feet are fare more efficient putting the board on the side than in a center placement ! Only way to carve with precision and strength !!
To your 1st point: “Offset your feet” from the axis…is the word you are looking for(when u say “spread your feet”….) to have a more “open” position and face fwd a bit more. I love ur vids…thx
Great video again! Keep going. Question: ai always believed that most efficient way to pump was to stay as close to “stall speed” of the wing as possible, and just be above it. This way, you spend less energy and experience leas drag. But in your video: you say go as fast as you can and give example of going against current at 6:50
I believe is best to invest energy in reaching the cruising speed and then just trying to maintain it. the faster and higher in the water the foil, the more efficient
I have not tried Ketos, but while Gong looks nice on paper and the front wing is really nice, the screws gets loose all the time. Basically the connections on Gong are pretty weak, especially compared to Axis. Also it is really heavy
@@ukarlssonI completely agree… Same constatation.. Gong has very loose screws which pretty soon annoying because you have to tighten them pretty often or get a loose foil on the water. Axis is better. But KETOS is incomparable: perfectly fit, tight, precise and also true… a lot lighter!!

thank you for the side note Rob! very helpful
Instead of comparing Pumping to a Squat I believe a better comparison is fast Leg Presses. I look forward to your next video.
Thanks for the video, great with some fresh tips!

When Gaël says “sloppy”, I think he means “loose”.
exactly, thanks for pointing it out...
And the last tip….always wear your new white tennis socks when you walk your set up to the water….😊😅
😂😂😂😂😂
Hello, the best for pumfoil is Ketos or Gong ?
I have not tried Ketos, but while Gong looks nice on paper and the front wing is really nice, the screws gets loose all the time. Basically the connections on Gong are pretty weak, especially compared to Axis. Also it is really heavy

I have to agree with @yeti66ti
