The Triton X-1 was stabless, but it had sweep, and upturned trailing edges on wingtips. So it effectively had the stabilization built-in.

Hello Gaël! ..well, i didnt expect to spend 26 minutes indulging myself in your video this morning - but hey - your perseverance in pursuit of a desired goal is utterly compelling and you should be congratulated for exhibiting a determination not often captured for others to observe....if i only i could tie down my 13 and 17 year old sons and make them watch, to prove my oft-repeated assertion that no-one is born with any particular sporting skill...all athletes must put in the time, doing rep after rep after rep.... with attitude and grit like yours, you will go far in life and i wish you well from Sydney, Australia!

Thanks for posting this was on my mind recently. Correct me if im wrong im still new to this, but to summarize; the longest fuselage is the easiest to start, while the smallest is the most agile and easiest to recover, but you prefer the medium one because the smallest one has too high of a cadence, meaning its kinda annoying to keep going up and down within a small amount of time? But now my question is, when going for the longest distance you can would the medium or longest fuselage be the best? Also the last shot of exiting the marina into the waves was awesome.

thank you for the clarification...I also found that the shorter fuselage (AXIS 52cm Psycho) is more pitch sensitive without a larger tail when gliding over 10-12kts (1401Pro with Skinny 35)

Congratulations. A very admirable level of determination. Learning as an adult is such a strange experience… the weight of failures feel heavier. The loss of time seems longer. The lack of interest from other people seems colder. You are on your own when you are an adult learning a skill-or particularly an odd skill. But, the triumph is sweeter. Your memory is sharper of the journey. Your body is stronger and more capable of the final skill. The distance between you and your peers is greater for it. The satisfaction of achievement runs deep and inspires another conquest. Again, congrats. It keeps me inspired for my little niche things.

Great to hear from Leo!! I use to enjoy your videos, lots of great stuff. Leo has always seemed to communicate very openly and honest, as today. Lots of valuable insights from that. Thanks a lot! Thanks a lot as well for sharing the story of your accident, Leo. It's quite shocking to hear about that. I'm happy for you that you seem to be well again! Happy 2nd BDay btw! There's a lot to learn from thinking about hazardous situations like this one. Foiling is a rather young and still developing pastime and some dangers might have to be found out yet. And sharing situations like these is an important part of preventing them from happening to others in the future. As Gaël's story a while ago is very valuable for the community (where the "stab" got literally a different meaning) - thanks to you as well and foil safely onwards! I also do like Leo's ideas about open source/public domain sharing - something we've heard from Zeno Davatz in a previous talk before, concerning other subtopics. Great spirit! Cheers! 🤙and Happy Holidays

Very interesting ! I was always wondering on how much the FD impacts the pumping and you gave an early answer! I am pumping with 150 and 120 liters DW boards for about 10 to 15 secs max now. I am close to 100 kg and with a curve H 5xl. What did increase my time is having a longer mast as soon the pod is touching water is game over. Moving mast forward and closer stance as well but I have no DS training. Ride on!

It would be interesting to see you pumping with some waves thrown in the mix as I think linking waves and bridging bumps is why someone would normally pump with a foil drive on. Not entirely sure but I think pumping towards an incoming bump would give you some energy from the wave and same applies going down the wave

    • @gaeldaniele

I'm currently learning how to inline skate at age 44 and I notice a similar progress characteristic to this. You think that it's just a matter of repetition so that you can train your brain on techniques and balance but what's unique to these types of activities is that there is also a physical component which is required to be able to perform the activity. Unlike, say, learning to ride a bike, where you basically just have to learn how to balance and steer, inline skating and this, apparently, requires a lot more patience while your body develops the necessary physiology to progress. That's why it takes so freaking long. Well done, kid. 👍🏻
