220hp wheels on a 1.5? And 315 Nm? That's like the 2.0T level! I wonder whether CVT would break with that torque as AFAIK Hondata limits the torque at 260 Nm
That, I cannot tell you because I also don't know.
Just to clarify this misunderstanding.
This 1.5T and CVT indeed can handle such power.
Hondata limits 260 Nm on wheel ! not on engine.
This CVT can handle safely around 340-350 Nm on engine (260 Nm).

You have the ECU tuning specialist Haltech in Australia. They can mod almost everything. This is just a typical Honda.

Sometimes it is futile to wait: you will see in some of our videos: wait 20 seconds, still never move over. So we just adjust our driving to suit. We cannot save the world, we just get by.

uncle, what do u think of cvt transmission? is it healthy for the cvt when you use engine brake?
You can use engine braking - should be okay for the cvt. It can take it.
Some CVTs if not mostt are preprogrammed to have engine braking. Even the CFE family like preve,suprima s and exora all have engine braking.
7:55 Uncle YS, I noticed you weren't holding the steering steady as you were powering thru the corner. Just curious is there a reason behind you shaking the steering like that, as I thought it might unsettle the car mid corner. Please impart your wisdom, thanks! :)
Sometimes we unsettle the rear to help to throw the car around the corner, to force a bit of oversteer. Not many people notice it. Great job. We also do a bit of trail braking to put the weight down for standard suspensions. Helps to stabilize the car and improve turn in.

The cvt performed well. It feels just like any other car, since we are on paddle shifters.
Greetings Uncle, when you said 220 Hp on wheel, maybe what you meant was 220 Hp on engine? Because the acceleration is the same like mine (220 Hp on engine).

The 220 hp was the claimed horsepower, supposedly at the wheels, and I have no way to verify the dyno results. I will ask the tuner if he has the charts.

I think it’s better to leave it in the regular D or S mode. The manual mode on a cvt doesn’t work well with that power
Manual gives you a little bit of control.

Not a negative comments, but just personal thoughts ... this setup might be more suitable for NSHW drives since it's KTune @ high revs (more chances to use the power at highway straights)... this Genting Route has many bends and maybe more suitable for low revs high torque for the uphill pulls ... not a car expert, just blahing... what you think?
Good point: if we just do a straight run, it is actually not very meaningful. Power is power, and it will show how well the car is set up on a road like this. The thing is, we drive all kinds of cars in this road, so it becomes a yardstick of sorts. Driven in isolation, every car can be made to look fast.
When you tune a car, there are some concerns: turbo lag, driveability, cornering ability, sar stability, brakes. A road like this tests everything in the car, and definitely is more engaging than flying at 250 km/h in a straight line.

I dont think that is necessary. The 1.8 is for people who just want to drive normal and sedately. It definitely wont be as fast, but it will still go up the hill.

To be honest, the exhaust sound is quite annoying when throttle and let go simultaneously when cruising

the NVH seems terrible. How do you think such a modded car would be for daily drive or long drives? Would it cause driver fatigue with all that noise and harshness?
Keep the suspension and exhaust standard, and you will like it. Depends on the owner, so you dont have to have all. I would say you go for engine plus brakes. The suspension in standard form is good enough. Watch our video on the standard car goong up the same road.
I would suggest you pay more for FK8. It's a really comfortable car.

@@teohabi Then get a used FK2. Where got people buy 1.5L with CVT for spirited driving one. If you have driven the 1.5L CVT, the car is rubbish. Not setup well enough to drive it hard and also not comfortable enough to cruise with it.

We always have some reserve. If I go flatnout there will be lots and lots of tyre squealing

Basically a ecu re-map for engine, coil-overs, tyres, brakes. All mentioned in the video - looks like you didnt watch it all, hahaha. Gotcha!

The only thing that is hard to mod is SKILL.
the engine is revving too hard. Could it damage the engine or cvt?
If you want the max power from the engine, you have to floor it; there is no compromise.
FC it’s a good car. However I save my money to buy the old Fk2r. Seems he spend a lot to mods it.

Just go buy the new City when it is launched. Problem solved.
@@YSKhongDriving New City still no Turbo, Malaysia only gets a new 1.5L NA twin cam engine and you cant buy the Thailand turbocharged 1.0L version. Buy the hybrid one and you get so little horsepower, just massive torque, Honda rated that car to do 170+ km/h top speed only. That tells you that you gonna get whooped by 1.5L Myvi on the highway, they do about 190km/h .

I was okay with it. You can always keep it stock if you want a quieter car, and driving it slower will make everything less urgent, for sure. Our test is to check out this car under a little more extreme driving. I could have driven it slowly...

It's up to you really. We just test the car. You can always go for a manual gearbox, or just drive another car.

If you've actually done your research, you'd know that the 10th gen fc doesn't do well with a blow off. :)

This car would have been perfect if it came with a 7-sp wet DCT or a 6-sp conventional torque converter A/T.
Honda M’sia, please consider ditching the CVT.
It’s not up to honda malaysia, but Honda HQ itself to determine the transmission for the cars they manufacture. However there’s a manual 6 speed variant of this car in the US, Japan and Europe. Sadly Honda Malaysia determined that manual transmission sales will not do well in Malaysia

Cvt is not that ummph (sound like a scooter). Tuned engine on stock CVT gearbox...greater frictions.
hate the civic transmission. new accord is somewhat have a better gearbox. works like a dsg.

But it can be fast though. Just because you haven't been clapped by a fast civic doesn't mean its slow.

We live with what we have. To be fair, cvt tech has grown in leaps and bounds. The mew Accord, for example, is so much better than the first one we had.

Not really? CVT’s are pretty good. And plus it’s super fuel efficient compared to having a standard automatic. I don’t think civic was gonna put in a DCT OR DSG in it.
Only down side of CVT’s is that you don’t feel the kick back when you change gear. Besides that, it’s a good gearbox in my opinion, and also there’s a reason why CVT’s are banned in F1
