- The Honda Civic FE is a favorite amongst young Malaysians and even in standard form it is already a great car up our favorite mountain.
This time we are invited by Rex, the owner of a Civic FE who offered it to us to be checked out on Genting, so here we are with the video.
Many thanks to Rex for the loan of the car and a word of thanks to the car builder, Thomas Yung of Official K Tuner Malaysia for hooking up Rex with us. As usual, Thomas did a great job of matching the suspension, brakes and the engine tune to make this fun-to-drive machine.

Wah cvt didn't go boom
Internet people say that you should drive a Honda CVT carefully, as the CVT gearbox is too fragile say them. It can only handle less than a quarter of the car's power below 2k RPM and lower. Meanwhile,uncle are pushing these machines to their limits.🤘🏻

Just to check, if one wants to add in an external trans cooler, should the fluid line be connected be direct fro transmission to cooler or still connected through the stock radiator to cooler? Pls adv

S2K, my dream car till this date..I wonder how much does it cost to mod till 300hp. like agak agak.

I have one silly question and a total noob one, if I drive underpowered FWD but suspension quite suit my style, is it better to actually stick to ideal line with tight turn through every corners or try to oversteer a lil bit to get nose of car facing the exit of corner early or is it better to fully send my car like keisuke in initial D 😂 ? I really have no idea which way is better to drive faster(time) rather than look and feel fast but only make my tire worn quicker. sorry for noob question.
The idea is tue feed the car into the corner. Sudden amd excessive steering input into a corner usually just causes under steer amd wears out the tread.
There are other factors involved in driving such as weight transfer.
A good suspension set up also helps - brakes also play a big part.

torque is what kills transmission in general, not horsepower
Transmission mod costs quite a bit.

Cvt really sounds crappy! But this is a very good car! They should bring in the manual civic like the SI sedan. In the US even a standard.civic there is a manual version but for hatchback.

If you use it well, ypu can get by; not the best, I agree: there is always the FL5 or the FK8R.

It is stronger than you think. We habe an 8 year old Honda and have driven it hard since new - the CVT has not failed yet.
Don’t think Honda CVT same like Toyota, Proton or Produa. CVT Honda nowadays much better.

The S2000 is driven by one of the fastest drivers in the country and it is lighter and has a sports suspension and is a manual and has a rev limit of 9000 rpm.
that s2000 is modified too.

So, 250wheel PS and 35.4wheel kgm3 or 348wheel Nm (thats 300PS, 350Nm at crank as mentioned). Thats the limit for stage 3 CVT. Nothing more can be done. Can see from the video, the CVT holds back speed delivery when 100kmh above. Needle cannot move very fast upwards.
Convert to manual will get 300wheel PS but changing gears is dangerous as the front tires lose grip, unless tuned down to 280wPS.
I just drive the car - and it survived.

Unless the numbers stated are not factual and driving experience is misinformation, then state it; dont give an emotional leftist response. Anyone can comment, and uncle has, in the past, either liked it or replied if he agreed with it or disagreed with a tinge of sarcasm. Everyone takes it with stride and moves on.
Let Rex enjoy his car, take it up to Genting and track it and do his data logging.
Here is a constructive response.
1. Revert to the old shocks and suspension.
2. Get the shocks to stiffen up 40% (vendor of your choice).
3. Put stiffening bars from front to back at undercarriage (vendor of your choice)
4. Use bigger rims, lower profile & wider tires, 275/35r19 or 285 to increase diameter and contact patch.
5. Flare the fenders to accomodate 4.
Otherwise, 255/40r18 with autofoam track package if 4/5 is too much to take.

@@YSKhongDriving yeah I watched you were revving to the red line most of the time.. i thought the CVT started to overheat and the system cuts its power just like normal FE and the car loose its acceleration power
After this run the CVT fluid need to replace after heated up.🤞
