I want to learn how to be a Buddhist, but my parents aren’t too found of it. But I don’t care what they think. As soon, As I turn 18 I’m going to take my own path and live how I want to. Edit: actually I’m going to start by doing me for me :)!
Love this. We have all agreed to the roles we are playing. Even more reason to embrace and value our current intrinsic nature; our unique make-up. Unconditional friendship with oneself allows for choices that are kind towards us, choices that are correct for us and self-responsibility for the outcomes of our experiences. No need for self-flagellation just adjustments to what we didn't understand or where we lacked awareness.
I often found her to be leaning a bit to the gloomy perspective on life (she had a difficult one from what i've read), but this is a most excellent talk. I can very much relate.
Freedom is the very willingness to face whatever life has in store for us. The willingness is all you need. One could call it forbearance or courage also. A simple inner alignment with your life, with reality as it unfolds, nothing more. Its very simple.
thanks mojo :) yes I will forgive myself 2day for not being perfect I will accept that I will b the best me that I can love and compassion for myself and others
It's easy to demonstrate compassion toward people for whom love arises naturally, like family or close companions. This is inherently well and good. But the real hallmark for spiritual fortitude can be found in the resolution to love those individuals whose shadows seem to envelop and obscure your radiance. Those scoundrels who, on the surface, appear to be your adversaries, who effectively arouse the demons that lay dormant and carefully hidden deep within in the labyrinth of your subconscious. But all the while, they are teachers, heavenly ordained messengers pointing the way to freedom. Divine love mistaken for contempt. Opportunities, not opponents.
@telethon123 i dont have problem with suffering , but suffering that reduces your life to a room and your ability to escape suffering through practices recommended like meditation is something else. How can suffering then be considered something you can transcend if we do not fully know how much the body / mind is responsible for it and what we call reality ?
Maitri is Love! Pure Love. What's the problem with naming Love : Love...? Maitri is not friendship, friendship is part of Maitri, part of Love. Maitri is Divine Love.
Animals and plants and all kinds of creatures give love and unconditionally. When I am hungry they offer themselves up to me or like a bat or bird will drop food at my feet. Love is
@telethon123 Tony Robbins -'cheerleading session'... yeah, that can feel so fake and like you are lying to yourself when you don't feel you can cheer about pain.

Pema Chodron, you save me daily from going off the deep end. Your tender loving kindness ekes out of your pores. Thank you so so much.
We cannot be truly kind to others unless we are first able to be kind to ourselves. One cannot give from empty pockets.
