This was probably the most 'iconic' image of any jubilee that has ever been seen....absolute goose bumps. Concorde today, would be called a "BOSS", I'm sure!.
Advanced technology that 40-50 years old at the time of the fleet’s removal from service. Concorde WAS definitely one of a kind but the whole reason they were retired was the cost of maintaining those older fuel guzzling aircraft was becoming increasingly more expensive and to bring them up to date with upgraded modern avionics (and perhaps getting rid of the flight engineers station) a reduced cockpit crew would have cost millions of pounds to implement. The downturn in air travel after 9/11 was kinda the last nail in her coffin. Even today in 2022 her overall lines have aged well and she still looks like a current day design. As loud, smelly and non-eco friendly as she was no other passenger aircraft could do what she did!
@@apieceofdirt4681 I believe the computer tech that controls the ramps controlling the airflow into the engines that allowed Concorde to supercruise is still a secret to someone (Airbus or the British gov't, can't remember). That would make Concorde still "advanced."
2019 or so, the Canadian Lancaster Bomber flew the Blue Spruce route to the UK, and joined up with the Lancaster from the BBMF. There is video of the two Lancasters, and the Vulcan Bomber flying in formation. That was pretty epic.
There never was and never will be ever a specticle like that fly pass of the "Ace"of Diamonds of the skies with his trail of red arrows.....Goose bumps all over!!!
They should never have took Concorde out of service. The Air Crash in 2000 was the beginning of the end and that was 100% human error. Concorde went under some modifications and they did a test flight that was scheduled for September the 11th 2001. The day 9/11 happened which was a huge shock. To this day its a big mistake to kill off the aircraft. Best thing ever made in history.
If that was Brian May's rendition of "God Save The Queen", then I am in tears of joy. Concorde is just simply, the Queen of the Skies. No, wait. I have a much better name. The Goddess of the Stratosphere.
I used to work in a BA facility in South Wales which refurbished seating for their aircraft. We had seats for one of their Concorde fleet come in one day and i had a chance to sit on one. Closest i ever got to flying on her.
"Concord" the book written by Mike Bannister is well worth a read. This beauty should still be flying but sadly the French were against it because they were losing money when BA were making loads. The accident report was a total sham too, shame on you Frenchies involved

The retirement of Concorde. One of the rare occasions where the advance in technology went backwards. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Same as the harrier

@@apieceofdirt4681 A fair summary; I wonder if the future electric/hydrogen/ any green-fuelled equivalent will look like her (I suspect so!).

@@danielw5850 It most likely would. All the concepts do. There would just be no droop nose with advanced camera technology/glass cockpits.
Quite possibly the greatest moment in aviation history
I totally agree with you but Orville and Wilbur might not.

I was in the Mall with my mum to watch that. It was incredible and I never forgot it

Concorde and HM QE2: Two icons never to be seen again
QE2 is still around, she's a floating hotel in Dubai.
@@goodshipkaraboudjanto be fair so are the Concordes they just aint flying
@@petercross3984 Good point. I wonder what will become of the G-BOAB. Still sitting at Heathrow rotting away.

@@WarhammerWings thanks. Very good to know!

Freddie would approve. Hell, he'd be right there with them. Queen performing for The Queen. Right after this they jump right into Don't Stop Me Now.
The nostalgia is strong with this one.
Nice rate of climb at the end, not too showy but a sort of restrained show of potential capability.
RIP QE2 70 years of service to her country and the Commonwealth, loved like no other monarch in history 😔
The real King !!! Concorde
So beautiful and majestic
I flew on the concorde as a kid, best birthday present off my grandad ever
I bet it was the best gift your grandad ever gave you.
Mike Bannisters "Concord" book is a good read, you even get a mention lol
You were a spoilt brat 😠
Concord 😍😍
Rest in peace
Yes when I was a kid you could get from London to New York in 3.5 hours. Now it takes 7.5 hours.
I was still a baby on this day, never got to see this baby fly, only the red arrows :( It retired when I was a toddler so I'll never see it fly
the best video on UA-cam
Never had the chance to fly on one, only to take some hand luggage on board for a wealthy customer.

Anybody else come to this video upon hearing the Queen's death

No I am reading Mike Bannisters book "Concord", I have zero feelings for any of these dodgy royals but that aircraft is legend

Great book.
End of an era
Magnificent
Espetacular, lindo!
That made me cry
*Thee real Queen was in the sky.*
They both are gone
:(
Even Roman Emperors never got treated to that
I wonder if Concorde had passengers on board when she flew over buckingham palace
It never
I wasn't even born then. I wish I could've seen it
I was a baby
I was there! 😊
