This is a cautionary tale about how everyone should do a background check before allowing anyone to live on their property. It’s hard to get someone off your property once they’re living there.

Once they receive mail to the property, they live there. Also, a cautionary tale about having a contract that protects you, and your business, which included Michael's home. A contract covering a 30, 60, and 90-day review of the status of the training & and if the training is beneficial. This protects both parties & gives Michael an out if they are scumbags or on her part if she isn't satisfied with the training. Of course, these are my thoughts after the fact.

@@missmaggie2620 Good point. Its rather pathetic that trusting people to live with you or in a property you own requires so much legal jargon paper work to make the government red tape look like first grade assignments.

Absolutely. Next time I'm accused of attempted murder following repeated insults and unjustified accusations in person and on social media, forced out of my own home, diminished and discredited professionally, faced with hostile tenants I can't seem to evict, and bopped over the head with a mobile phone, I'm definitely going to enlist their help.

If Lauren truly feared for her safety, she should have just left the premises. It's not as if she didn't have the means or opportunity to do so. No, she had to continue making Michael's life a complete misery. What she did to this decent man who had accomplished so much in HIS life, is unforgivable. lol. You must be smoking the same crack as Lauren, if that's your take on it.
But looking at your deranged comment, atrocious use of punctuation and retarded grammar.
I'm going to go ahead and guess, that you are in fact Lauren.
Posting a supportive comment under a pseudonym, because your narcissistic ego cant stand the fact that no one is on your side.
No one believes you and now no one ever will, your a failure, a hack and a petty criminal.
The only thing you will ever be good at, is being despised, unfortunately for you that is not an Olympic sport.
Admittedly, my take on your comment could be way off and your just a crazy troll that actually supports her (I'm not a narcissist so I can admit to being wrong)
But I think it is way more likely that you and your chode boyfriend are the culprits behind this post.
I'm also pretty sure you deliberately placed the CPS call, knowing it would lure him up to the house.
Your boyfriend attacked him from behind, you two knocked Michael out, staged the scene, called 911 and then your boyfriend (ex marine) shot you with two non lethal shots.
I think, if he was packing, it was only for self defense.
I think that shot through the door, was possibly when he was attacked from behind by your boyfriend.
You also tried to access his phone while he was unconscious, thinking you could unlock it with his fingerprint.
      But he had password protection.
And that is why you dialed 911 from his phone, because you thought that would unlock it (dam you are stupid)
Like I said I could be wrong, but one thing is for sure, your riding isn't even intermediate.

I'm only 10 minutes in, but am wondering why this woman and her boyfriend didn't just move out. If there are problems with your landlord, spouting off on social media will only feed the fire. If she wasn't happy with her training, then move. If she felt threatened, then leave.
Edit: Yeah, Lauren and Robert came across as shady, and evidence supports that. Sometimes tenants have more rights than landlords. It sure seems likely that they pounced on Michael, beat the heck out of him, and THEN he shot at them. If that's what happened, then that also supports Michael's claim of temporary amnesia, as he could have claimed self-defense.
    Their story doesn't add up.

That was brought up. I had the same thought. It was because of her also having 5 horses she needed boarded and with an immediate move out, it was impossible to find somewhere that could take them and her/and the bf. Makes sense, moving just two people is a task in itself but adding 5 horses to it would be super hard.

On the one hand the fact that the other ladies who were fearful of the safety of the stabling facilities for their horses took the action of sleeping in the stables with their horses rather than move the horses reinforces the point of how difficult it is to find alternative stabling for horses (plural) at short notice, especially if you add in the requirement for Olympic-grade training facilities in addition to the stabling. And with everyone being paranoid about what the other party would be capable of, I certainly wouldn’t expect Lauren to overnight off site, away from being close to supervising her 5 Olympic-standard horses every night. These are, after all, highly valuable, both in terms of how much they cost as well as how long it would take to train replacement Dressage horses to the same standard, especially as Dressage is absolutely a 2-way team discipline. Competition horses are not pets, although obviously most riders form very close bonds with their horses.
On the other hand I think the court proceedings uncovered that the animosities went on for over 1 year, so the summer season arrangement was renewed after the first summer season, after the relationship had already started breaking down. Of course we don’t have access to the contract agreement but it’s unlikely to have been ‘locked in’ for more than 12 months and if Lauren was truly scared, she would have had 12 months to find alternative arrangements and not return her horses to the stables at the beginning of the second summer. And why did Michael allow things to escalate by renewing the contract for another summer season, after things had started to go sour? Wanted the money?
I think Lauren and her bf were lying about so much. I think Michael was at best playing up MH issues and at worst lying about not remembering what happened. I also think regardless, nothing justifies Michael shooting Lauren twice in the chest (it was just luck she wasn’t killed). But I’m so not sorry about the verdict (singular, there’s absolutely no evidence that anyone other than Lauren was shot at, however with all 3 lying we’ll never know if the bf also would have been shot at if the opportunity had presented itself).
Classic JTL case: far from open & shut case. Love ‘em 🤓

It about made me snap and I had a police officer friend and judge friend sit down and have a talk with me like you can't do anything you have to let this play its course you have to let DFS flag of harassment if you do anything against her you'll go to jail. They all agreed it wasn't right it wasn't okay but I had to keep it together. And I did. It took three years and probably a decade off my life. It's resolved for the time being, knock on wood but I still live everyday and fear that something is going to set her off and she's going to come after me again for something that is perceived in her head that I did and she'll do so by going after my child and calling DFS constantly. Until she no longer lives on this Earth I will not be able to completely be at peace. I'm not going to be the one to take her off this Earth she does a good enough job of pissing off enough people that one day somebody will. Not to mention her head, neck & face-touching movements. I believe that there was a lot of Gaslighting on Lauren's part. She is far from innocent, and I'm glad Michael was proven not at fault. Seen this case in other channels, but not one of them have been as thorough about explaining it as you! Thank you.
With that said, I have a few comments on this...
At first, without knowing the entire situation for the reason mentioned above, I thought both of them were in the wrong. He shouldn't have armed himself and she should've left and sued for her money back. But after listening to all these facts that weren't mentioned in court, I now believe that Mr. Baritone is the one and only true victim.
He was being terrorized, threatened, and harassed on his OWN PROPERTY. The recordings made of him without his authorization. Then her posting them on social media, again without his consent. The defamations made against him - also posting them on social media, like what freaking adolescents do now. Her constant calls to government agencies and making false accusations against him. And then, when ALL of these childish antics didn't work entirely in her favor, they proceeded to physically attack him.
I do believe what someone else posted: That they BOTH attacked him and he was forced to shoot at them to protect his life. And since he was running on pure adrenaline at that time, due to all the stress he was put under by them, he may have developed amnesia. Or maybe he wasn't even the shooter... Her own boyfriend testified he put Mr. Barisone in a chokehold, and stated Mr. Barisone passed out. He then changed the statement immediately after that, and no one questioned this!!
This man tried to get rid of them but couldn't... Literally COULDN'T. From his own property!!
This narcissistic, entitled, psychotic, old ass, spoiled wench really needs to be humbled.
Even though he was acquitted, he's still suffering mentally from what she's put him through. And she's STILL not through with him!! She's still trying hard to sue him by any means necessary... WTF!??
I'm so glad he was acquitted. And glad he's countersuing her, and suing the police department for failing to protect him and his family from this pathetic wench... But he also needs to sue her father. Because he threatened legal action against him if he evicted her. You cannot force anyone to do something they don't want to do... Especially to board someone who's making your life a living hell!! Are these freaks/people serious!???
Praying for Mr. Barisone's mental and well being. Hope he reunites with his family soon 🙏🏼❤

Another thought- is it possible that the police didn’t investigate as much as they should have because he was a 6’4” man and she was a 5’1” woman? Did they not think it was possible for her to bully him? 🤔

When you criticized law enforcement for being dismissive I was glad to hear it. Those people should have been escorted off the property while being sure her horses got proper treatment while their moving situations got ironed out.

Show barns are full of competitive, narcissistic people. I’ve seen men and women throw away their financial security and relationships chasing those blue ribbons. I willingly left one barn with my horse when the owners’ marriage was failing. Less than a year later, the estranged husband returned and shot and killed his wife and mother-in-law. There was a restraining order against him but that didn’t stop him.

When are the authorities going to clue in that when any domestic relationship goes wrong and fear of violence occurs, they have to step in and separate/help the parties? Usually it's partners and that's what makes this case so interesting! Thanks for covering this one, Kevin

I so very much disagree with court systems that don't allow past offenses to be shown in court. I know people make mistakes in their pasts and can change. But if it got to this point, it's because she hasn't changed. She has continued her attacks and crazy making behavior. Therefore, all past records should have been allowed in court, showing her character. She IS a bully. I'm not a therapist but if this female doesn't have narcissistic personality disorder, I'd be shocked. She had enough charm & charisma to make Michael see a sweet person initially. That's how narcissists pull you in. They all seem friendly and warm at first. Then they eventually show their true colors ... condescending, they think they are better than everyone else ... they have ZERO empathy. They can fake it when they try to draw someone in but they absolutely do not have the ability to think: "How would I feel, if someone did this to me?" And what about the constant posts on social media? The narcissistic smear campaign of course! Trying to ruin someone's reputation without feeling a shred of remorse. Social media is the narcissist's playground. They post everything they think, see, eat. They constantly get on soap boxes. Narcissists are pathological liars and when they talk about themselves, they are the hero or the victim in every story. Never the abuser but if you dig into their pasts, you see the real them.

I have met people who expect to the dynamic they grew up enjoying at home where they were treated like a little god to be replicated in a professional environment and when that doesn't happen they dedicate themselves to causing a long campaign of chaos to teach colleagues "a lesson".
This situation reminds me of those people, only much more extreme.

When I read the story in the news when it first broke, I just figured he was guilty based on initial facts. However, when I watched an in-depth report on 48 hours after he was found not guilty, the one main issue that stands out is, it was mentioned that Lauren and her boyfriend hid cameras in the horse stables (and perhaps other areas of the property) to record Michael. And it's obvious to me they were behaving in a way to try to get Michael to say something to them that would make him look bad (and make sure they had a clear recording of it, but it would have to be more then one time, so then they could claim a pattern of 'abuse' by a landlord/employer. Once they had these recording then they could file a lawsuit, knowing that he would most likely settle, rather then have to go to court and damage his reputation/business. His property and horses are worth millions. To me they were looking for a huge payday. Also note Lauren was in her mid 30s at the time this happened and Stil financially dependent on her father (who just happens to be an attorney, makes you wonder if coached her on how to setup a potential lawsuit that would be an easy settlement action, so then he wouldn't have to financially support her anymore). If her situation was that 'abusive', she could have easily just moved back home or elsewhere to work for another equestrian coach/horse stables.

Kanarek's behavior reminds me a lot of Jamison Bachman's, the serial squatter. They both used extensive knowledge of the law to not only avoid eviction but also bully and cause sadistic, maximum psychological stress to the property owners. I would 100% describe this as some sort of terrorist campaign. She didn't use overt violence, but the weapons she did use - social media, legal maneuvers, veiled threats - was still terrorism as far as I'm concerned. And I wonder if her ultimate goal may have been to take the horse farm from Barisone, either through getting him arrested, destroying his business or just driving him completely from the property. But unfortunately for both of them, she was playing with fire. It's awful that it came to this. I hope that he is able to rally psychologially and financially from this. Please get background checks on your renters, everyone!!
