Wow. Chef Nora has that "makcik" aura on her. If she like your food, that means that you just got her approval. Trust me, my mom has the same aura and I managed to win her approval by cooking her favourite food.
This is another awesome vlog, getting a no-nonsense US-based celeb chef from this side of the world into your vlog. At least, now I know there's a Chef Nora.
Soo yummy! Terima kasih for the tip to use chick pea and roasted kacang and blend them with chillies . Saya akan cuba buat ni esok. Greetings from Rotterdam the Netherlands!
Hi Logesh and Rachel. Love this video. Learning more about the Malaysian culture and cuisine. Cheffe Nora is a great lady, always smiling and ready to share.
I get what chef meant about the banana... my dad also used to say that there are bananas to be eaten fresh and not suitable to make pisang goreng, but for me they all pretty much the same 😂
Most pisang goreng hawkers use plantains (specific types of pisang) instead of regular bananas to make pisang goreng. It is to avoid the pisang goreng to be mushy and too soft. But, I like mushy pisang goreng sometimes where the bananas just soak all the oil. haha. I find the mushy one tastier sometimes, but be warned: it's quite unhealthy. Haha
Suggestion : Chef Nora, pls open a restaurant here in Orlando, FL. Plsssssss !! 🙏🙏 I went to a few restaurants here but the food is nothing like back home with great flavours. It is very blah here , seriously ! Thanks ❤️❤️
I didnt realize that I have been following your videos from one to another since last year..... adoi.... but guess what, I have never subscribed... I am going to subscribe now coz I am really proud of you showing our Malaysian culture to the world and your bahasa kebangsaan ...sempurna beb....truly Malaysian
1. Pls tell Rachel her hairstyle looks really cute on her! 2. Kyren eating noodle omg Malaysian palette. 3. The bananas generally taste the same after frying. It's just the texture yg lain. The one yg specialised untuk masak tu biasanya keras & pahit sikit, so when you fry it, it soften and caramelised to give the sweet taste. It's good for business though sbb pisang untuk masak ni besar, so pakcik makcik tepi jalan biasa potong pisang tu kecik2 before goreng. If you use pisang untuk makan, utk family elok je~
Nice job Rachael !! Hey Logesh, just wondering if you gonna make beef rendang or Malaysian chicken curry anytime soon ?? I used to be working as a cook here in Australia (Perth) before I gave birth to my son 4 n half years ago. Both my husband (orang putih) and my son(Half orang putih and half Malaysian, like both your sons) can love spicy food, especially my husband....they both are my toughest taste test for me.. lol. Since my son is born, I am now do home-cook meals for sale (Beef rendang and Malaysian chicken curry is the popular on my menu). I am always happy to see your videos, because its encourage me to carry on with my home-cook meals to sale. Keep up your good work and please don't let others to put you down...you and family are my inspiration to me to carry on for my family ! Best wishes, lots of love and thoughts with you guys all the way from Australia (Perth)
Also...have you guys think of investing on an outdoor gas stove connect with a gas bottle ? It would be so great to able to cook it outside undercover just like when in Malaysia. I own one and invest it here and cook all my meals outdoor and bring it into the house, no matter what season it is. ^_^
Such a sweet message! So happy we’re able to encourage and inspire you. We’ll plan a beef rendang and chicken curry recipe for the future. An outdoor gas stove would be amazing! I’ll look into it after we get our backyard ready ❤️
Imagine spending so much time prepping the prawns and see people popping 3-4 into their mouth at once during the meal and finish it in a blink, alone. Malaysians rarely, almost never do that but I've see Americans do that all the time LOL.
Oh Logesh, i really salute Rachel. Shes more Malaysian than me actually. Shes a great person coz she love to keep learn and learn especially cooking our food dish. Im speechless, shes my minah salleh crush right now. Shes an idol. Kudos to your family ❤
wah sedap tue, thank for the video, teruskan encik kumar semoga channel ini terus berkembang hingga mencecah 1juta, walaupun jauh di rantau orang, tapi hati masih terkenang kampung halaman malaysia, mee goreng mamaknyang sedap dan lazat
thank u for sharing this recipe.. btw, doesnt mee goreng mamak need to have those 'cekodok' or dough fritters fried together with the noodles, for it to be called mee goreng mamak? it is how normally local msian mamak restaurant cook cooks it..
What Jogesh mean to say that the spatula is pliant. The closest word in Malay would be "melentur", but a common description would be "nipis" or thin. I love it when the baby protested. He complained that auntie Nora shouldn't used too much chillies!
I truly enjoyed your video, Rachel and Logesh. It is great to have Chef Nora. She is amazing and her Mee Goreng Mamak is just superb. What surprised me is that Zaden and Kyren are enjoying spicy food. 🇲🇾🙏
Interesting that they market the new restaurant as "Modern Indonesian and Kopi Bar" (6:57). I guess the brand name "Indonesian" is more marketable than "Malaysian" for American consumers.
That or Chef Nora is actually an Indonesian or married to one....or the restaurant's owner is Indonesian? Her recipe for Malaysian Mee Goreng Mamak also is quit different than how its actually made here...i never tasted any peanut-y mee goreng mamak before. In rojak mee?yes. It was made more like an Indonesian dish but its her style, her recipe so.. Yg penting perut kenyang :)
@@greenislifepinkislove actually we had peanutty mee goreng mamak style back in 70's or 80's in Malaysia. That's the original taste I would say. All you have in Malaysia now isn't authentic like before. Most of mamaks here aren't the mamaks anymore 🤭
hi mr.kumar. i met ur video last merdeka month. since that i following ur channels and literally watch 1 by 1. but today i was like scroll and browsing all ur vids. Oh my gosh. So terliur. I am gonna go to kedai mamak right now and order mee goreng mamak even it's only has eggs and tauhu 🤣. With shrimp is another level of mee goreng mamak 😝
I still remember after 3 years studying abroad, the first two food that i had was burger ramly and a plate of mee goreng mamak. fond memories of mee goreng mamak !!!!
I was so confused when Kayren was screaming. It's like he can't tolerate the spicy but he opens his mouth without hesitation everytime Rachel feeds him 😅

Now in KL there is more than 1k mamak’s restaurant everywhere, but to find a superb mee goreng mamak almost zero!! They don’t know how to cook a delicious mee goreng mamak anymore. Mee goreng mamak turn to be mee goreng basah kembang, mee goreng kicap, or mee goreng + tepung goreng selambak. Yuks.
In Penang, the potatoes in mee mamak are boiled. Instead of fishballs they use fritters & a gravy mix of sweet potatoes & sambal is poured in the last stage of frying.
Oh my god! Mee goreng mamak kalau tmbh chicken breast sikit pun nyum nyum . Hahah shrimp pun da okayy . Add on tauhu . Pergh . But overall mmg nampak menyelerakan.
Hai kumaar famili, nice video. Mee goreng mamak yg memang sangat sedap, chef nora seorang yg hebat bila berada didapur. Semoga Rachel terus meminat masakan ala malaysia. Semoga kumaar dan famili sentiasa sihat2 selalu. Kirim salam papa coper
Rachel’s dad is one of the coolest dad I’ve seen! He seems to enjoy Asian food more and more.

I love goreng 🍌 lembik and sweet !!!!
Some hawkers sold unripe pisang goreng, produced dry and no taste at all !
