@@michaelscott4853 What Sloan is best at doing is ripping pieces of other bands’ playbooks and making entirely new and unique compositions with those pieces. It’s real art.
I love everything about this song. It's some of the best rock'n'roll out there, with Chris Murphy's fun wordplay that I always get a kick out of. "When she says that I'm mean does she mean what she says?" I'd rank this track among my all-time favourite rock songs.
My 12 year old daughter: “Dada, I didn’t know The Beatles had this song.” Me: “Oh grab daddy a few beer and sit down, young lady. We have some music to hear, and talking to do.” Epic Parenting Fail.
Love love love how the videos from this album align with the record's graphics. Had no idea this video was a thing, though, until....urrr, nearly 2023, even though I bought Navy Blues as soon as it was released. Bloody Hell. Love Sloan
I don't know if the stereo channelling is preserved on UA-cam, but I was always so struck by the choice to have the guitar parts confined to separate L/R channels...that bridge and the solos are so great, and each part is so good on its own. I used to go to the gym and listen to this song on the treadmill and literally run 8 miles in an hour listening to this song over and over again...
That opening scene is patterned after some 60’s film where the government uses a rock band to control the youth into being non-thinking mindless clones for eternity. Edit: the name of the film is “Privilege.” en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privilege_(film)
Jen Brown-Roberts introduced me to this band. I love her even now. She was better than butter on waffles... better than everything.ever in this world. Gordon
That guy with the bald head talking to them sounds exactly like John Lithgow! Great tune though!! Are Canadian version of oasis which are all versions of The Beatles
This is one of the best riffs I've heard in my entire life.
Cheap Trick Riff. But all good.

sounds like spirit of the radio by rush in a way
Agreed
You should've heard Led Zeppelin do it first
I love how they all play and sing. It's like any of them can take up singing duties, knowing the rest of the band will rock behind them solidly.
Navy Blues is one of the best albums of the 90s. No doubt about it! This song rocks and Sloan kicks it live.
Baseline is unreal!!! Sloan is underrated!
My all time fave Sloan track on fave album. This song sums up everything I love about this awesome AF band! Live on, Sloan.

I can't even handle it. What an absolute banger.

I remember that meeting them years ago in Jacksonville Florida they're so cool
If this was at Jackrabbit, I was at that show bouncing my five year old daughter on my shoulders. She’s just as much a Sloan fan as I am.
Such a great tune.
God I LOVE SLOAN! Saw you live twice in DETROIT. So many great songs such great guys and musicians!
This is a certified banger.
Sloan has been incredibly influential on my approach to songwriting

The opening riff that is used throughout the song is "Everything Works If You Let It" by Cheap Trick!!! xoxo The Clarences
yep, but that song sucks. :-)
@@JoelEmberson We will have to agree to disagree. Hope all is well. xoxo The Clarences
Similar, but not the same. Closer to Rush’s Spirit of Radio if you ask me…but still different enough to make it their own.

Fookin sweet 👊😎

Love this song. Have you got another jump I can hoop through? Also, Chris totally cops a feel at the end there. I'd let it happen.
They always kind of remind me of OK Go back when they were hard rockers.
Yeah these guys rule
Awesome video.
My cousin is like "Nobody knows Privilege!" Lol.
Chris can really hit those high notes - this is sort of like The Beatles being molested by The Stones and AC/DC - awesome!
Sir, you are a wordsmith.
You made me spit out my tea, well done, sir 😂
@@RhythmAddictedState Thanks
How do I get more????
That fucking NOVA SCOTIA FLAG!!!!! Damn right. #LFG
