    Neat trick reliving the bottom spring tension to send that pin home! I haven't changed my front pads yet, at 70,000. The back ones were easy, but I have never worked on Brembos so thank you for the excellent video!

      The fronts are even easier. Besides making the best brakes in the world, Brembo engineers them to be easy to work on.

    about to get some R1 concepts drilled chamfered/Slotted rotors, im not sure about changing the pads to new ones since they have a lot of material left, however i will apply lubricant to contact areas, i did the back ones already with some new Gucci Brembo pads, cant wait for the rotors and to see how my front ones are.

      More aggressive rotors should be matched with more aggressive pads. The new rotors will chew up the pads faster in my experience.

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Рік тому

      You can open the cap if you want. I usually like to so it’s easier to compress the caliper pistons.

    Do you remember the part number for the rotors and pads on rock auto? How are you liking these rotors and pads? Any squealing

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  2 роки тому

      I don’t remember the exact Rockauto part numbers but if yours are exactly like these you need to shop for parts for the “J55” brake system or “Brembo J55” brake system.

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY

      I don’t think so. I would probably just replace the hub if the studs were shot.

    Are there two kinds of calipers on 2014 ATS(s)? There seem to be two different types of pads that have different form factors that can make it confusing when purchasing pads.

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  Рік тому

      Take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir when you compress the piston. Other than that - take it to a shop because the pistons might be seized in place.

      I called the dealer with the VIN to help determine the correct brake system on this one. This car has the JE5 Brembo setup. Rockauto.com sells them according to that designation.

      What about the rotors? Because I see two options which is 300mm(11.81) and 321mm(12.64in) from powerstop on carid.
      I’m looking to go with the same drill slotted rotors you have just not sure about size and if it’s certain size I need. Also have the brembo setup

    • @JoesCarSmartsNY
      @JoesCarSmartsNY  3 роки тому +2

      @@jniceswade7446 I just looked them up again on Rockauto. It looks like the rectangle brake pads (without the ears on each end) like in this video go with the 321mm rotors. You should call the dealer to confirm, but I’m pretty sure this setup uses the 321mm. When you have pads with the little ears on each end they should be 300mm rotors.
