That’s pretty cool! I experienced mice droppings for the 1st time on my Blackstone a few weeks back & wondering how to help with the situation. This is the answer! Thanks for sharing
I cover my griddle with parchment paper...can be reused quite a few times...the oil causes it to seal down on the griddle. Also i put my cleaned drip pan on top and inside it a small pastic container with a few cotton balls infused with several drops of peppermint essential oil, covered with a plastic lid with holes in it. Then close my lid and put the cover on. At first I also put a plastic cup with some ammonia in it on the bottom tray or on the floor under the it but that's not necessary any more. Keep the area around the griddle sprayed with insect repellent and critters will stay far away.
Saw on the Blackstone channel they make a shield to put in front of the grease hole. To keep food from falling thru. You could make one out of a thick aluminum cookie sheet . To plug the hole all the way. To keep the rats from using the hole.
Michael, thanks for this. As others have noted, it's only recently that I have noticed droppings on my 36" Blackstone. I'm hoping this is the solution I'm looking for. I ordered the last and the hangar /rack. PS We love your content and your format
I bought a kitchen mat to put on my griddle for 9 dollar oil and slip resistance fit perfect i just wanted something to keep mice from getting on my grill
I like the idea. I have lid and soft cover and have experienced the mouse dropping issue. Honestly, I think it's the soft cover that allows the mice access BUT due to my location and the environment (wind, dust) the soft cover is a must. All that being said I would love a follow up review after you've used it a couple weeks.
We live in a humid environment, North Myrtle Beach, SC. It was suggested to us not to use the soft cover as it holds in moisture. Use hard cover. I like the idea of silicone cover for cleanliness. Our griddle is left outside in the open, no cover. What’s your opinion about not using a soft cover in humid tropical environments? Thank you
Fun fact: the Attention Reminder tag that comes with your Grydlmat can be easily mounted to your griddle by unscrewing the ignitor button, placing the tag on and screwing the button back on. Enjoy!
Hi, Eddie! We have found that if there is oil dripping off your mat when hanging it's a good sign that too much oil is being used. All that is needed is a light coat. :)
Ehh, to each his own. I don’t see the need or purpose for myself. I clean my griddle off before I use it anyway. Only thing I have had on it was a couple of stray bugs occasionally.
Wondering the same thing for my 22 inch while at a campground. I’ve looked up general heat resistant silicone mats on Amazon that could be trimmed, but none in orange for the right size of the 22 inch.
@@blackstonecooking the Grydlmat site FAQ states it is not available yet for the 17 & 22 inch models, but is on the way. How have you enjoyed the mat during the time since this video?
We developed this product with the same problems in mind that Michael expressed. Grydlmat is meant to be used as a multi layered defense with a softcover and hard lid for ultimate griddle protection. Grydlmat is not a replacement for either of those other cover types.
I don’t remember putting that giant piece of American cheese on my griddle…. Dang it! I forgot to take the grydlmat off! 😂
I got one for a 27in griddle and it fits fine looks fine but I don’t keep the griddle outside as of yet it’s worth the money

Fun Fact: The Hang Rack can be installed on your griddle, wood railings, stone/concrete walls or virtually any other flat surface.

I have one now! It works great
I take the grease cup off when done..turn it upside down ...on griddle against the grease opening...to keep rodents out...but the mat is a good idea

Jim, thanks for the order!
We need a 1 yr update on what you think about it! Thanks for sharing!
I have since upgraded to their pro model with the side barriers. I have a video review on my channel for it as well.
Great video!! You know I’ve been curious about that mat

I plan on it. I thought the same thing with the soft cover. I went a week without using it and there were still droppings
@@blackstonecooking Where are you located ? is it humid there? I'm wondering about the rusting issue? Did it work for stopping rust?

Yes! Thank you! Mine has blown off like 3 times
Clean and sanitize? I just scrape and heat the griddle…seems sanitized to me. I have low standards. Lol
Do you have the link for the cuttable mat like the one in this video? Can’t find it online
I need to store my griddle for 6 months , what Do you suggest for storing and conditioning ...will be in freezing weather
Curious, any residual oil from the griddle that gets on the mat, do you think it will stick to the mat and then drip off when hanging the mat?

@@grydlmat7920 excellent point! Thank you for the response. Will be purchasing this for my 36”
Put the drip tray away and the rats may not be so attracted to the area.
Whatever happened to the review? I’d like to hear how this worked out for you.

Just saw the price too. $95 for a silicone mat. I’ll pass.
Can these be cut down to fit the 17inch black stone models?

These are specially made to fit all sizes of Blackstone griddles. They have guide marks for where to cut for each size griddle

Why not just keep the lid closed?
If you watch the whole video I show you why this doesn’t work

The prices have gone up quite a bit in the last year
