      @Khabib Nurmagomedov 2 hi, allow me to jump in. I am from Myanmar as well. I fully agree with you, what happened in the Rakhine state will be seen as a shameful event in our country history. I am sad to tell you that the majority of Myanmar citizens will strongly disagree with the idea of giving citizenship to Rohingya people. Their mind is rooted in the primal fear of outsiders coming in and taking over everything, they are beyond help. I am skeptical but hopeful for my generation (young people here are getting more liberal in their world views and some are also adopting that type of xenophobia from their parents)

    A wonderful video by Micaale Rogge. This should be shown regularly to all those who devalue the benefits of a muliticultural & multi-ethnic Burma. A strong union is only as strong as the sum of its parts. Such wealth in natural resources has been exploited by the greedy few amid the lack of investment in the people. How wealth Burma would be if they could utilise and see the strength in unity in diversity not as a cliche but a core value to be guarded far more than any creed of hate & prejudice

    • @goognamgoognw6637
      @goognamgoognw6637 4 роки тому

      diversity will always be a source of discord. The only way multi ethnic groups can be brought under a common mutual understanding and cooperation is if there is a higher power above them. For example the Roman empire united germanic tribes that would otherwise quarrel and fight each other. Native americans tribes fought each other until invaded. If Burma is divided it means the central government is weak. By the way the sio%) nist government in Usa is also weak it's why there is civil war looming.

      @@earlysda yeah but you omit to say that british created the premises for unrest that finally flared when they were flushed out. The same happened in India with Pakistan. The briton colonizer acerbated inner tensions and fed discord between ethnic factions to facilitate their dominance. "divide to conquer". However their presence held back a conflict. When they were flushed out this explodes into a civil war that would not have happened if they did not invade in the first place. Any colonizer breaks the balance and harmony of these ethnic groups, shows favor to one group at the expense of others, divides to reign, creates accumulated tensions. It is the effect of ruthlessly exploiting invading powers.

    Burma would not be poor if they developed their country logically, Look on Google Earth and you can see Burma is one of the greenest least despoiled countries in the world. If they opened up for tourism they would be more popular than Thailand. I agree about China, and same with most of the Chinese people that move on from China.

Instead first control population limit two children, control borders stop people coming in to live in Burma, limit imports of cars to only 1200 cc engines, put heavy tax on private cars, develop public transport... Buses trains river boats, do not cut down forests... Western greed for timber should not destroy Burmese forests. Lead a life as told by Lord Budha...

      that is quite a useless backward rant .. and all to justify Chinese imperialism. the problem with china, well, the biggest problem to the rest of the world is their incredible racism and expansionism. it was held back before by the West ... and no that it was not perfect, but effectively it worked to prevent China from expanding to the whole continent and beyond as a lot of Chinese seem to think today.
      People in the US sense this, and a lot of Chinese who are this way and inside the US really bother Americans, and they call this racism ... and it is a kind of racism of sorts, but surprise, there are different modes and reasons for racism, or prejudice, or people's honest reaction to other people who have characteristics close to those who screwed them over.
      In isolation by race on person is pretty much the same as another on this planet, the different is in how they have been programmed, socialized. We have the range from Muslims who are programmed to put their lives secondary to the demands of their religious clergy.
      In the US we put out lives secondary to the economy or the military ... or in this case today of the pandemic, or we are supposed to. But none of our leaders bother to do that. We are just slightly different than China, but we are racially diverse, and thus better for the world than China. It is a good thing for countries to be against China because China has a global agenda of takeover far worse than the US.
      The US needs reform ... and theoretically there is a chance that can happen, but not in China Russia, The Middle East, much of Africa.

    Rangoon was not much different when I visited in 1985 under the seven day visa system they granted back then. The airport had not changed along with most of the old colonial buildings downtown the Strand hotel. Most of the cars also dated from the 1950s.

    Burma was in good situation with Indian businesses and Burmese businesses; Indian business men (Hindus or Muslims) were ways more ethical than the kind of Chinese coming these days.

    Myanmar is a country with a lot of Natural Resources and has a lot of potential. If they join hands with India , Myanmar can improve its economy to a considerable extent. But they should have this Chinese connection put an end, because China is there to exploit them!
