Thanks for taking us there! We’re always looking for places to explore and this one is now at the top of my list! Also thx for the info on where to kayak. The bay in OC is often too rough for us older less for kayakers! The river looked peaceful and easy to paddle through. And the goats!!!! Can’t wait to explore the island! Thank you again so much!!
Neighbor suggested dropping our waverunners in the Pocomoke River at the Byrd park ramp and cruise them down to Pocomoke city. Now that is an awesome trip with a different view and water calmness from our usual Isle of Wight choppiness. We go several times a year and every time, lose count how many Bald Eagles we see. Great video Jay, thanks for sharing.
Neat town. Thanks for the look JB & Ashley. I've never been to Snow Hill, MD. Now I have kinda. Ashley with the reference of Rolling Pin bakery. Bingo- went there many times as a youngster. That place was famous back in the day. Hmmm Boston Cream doughnut. Sorta like a Chocolate Eclair. Toy World- cool store. Old school. My kind of place. Ur lucky JB u got rain, I got snow with wind & cold temps. My computer & phone said 25 degrees. I go out to defrost the cars, shove the walk, read the thermometer on the side porch, it say - 6 degrees. Not a fun day to be outside. 20 minutes at a time was about all I could handle.
How much is regular gas down your way? We're at $3.29 a gallon here. :( I can't believe how much Snow Hill resembles Berlin's main street. Except the street is wider. We've never been, but will have to make a point of visiting. The toy shop reminds me so much of the toy/antique store that used to be on Main St. Berlin too. Very similar. The little soldiers that you said your dad used to have were most likely lead soldiers from the early 1920's after WWI. My father was a WWII veteran, born in 1917, and he had them from his childhood. I actually still have two of them. I'm an old fart, and my brother had the steel Tonka trucks that I loved to play with. How old am I? Well, I got the ORIGINAL first year Barbie doll when I was 8. LOL. I could spend hours in that store. So many memories of toys long gone, but much loved. I love Ashley's excitement over the goats! LOL. Was that a cemetery to the left on the goat? What a fun video today Jay. Very much appreciated and enjoyed.
Thanks Darlene! An original Barbie? Thats so cool! They definitely don't make toys now like they used to! I LOVED playing with my metal tonka trucks. My parents still have them for my kids to play with. To the left of the goats is I believe food or something for the goats. Gas finally started going down here, it was $2.99 this morning.
The Barbie was 1959!! I'm an antique now too. lol. Here's something for your boys to do on the boards. If you're ever at the Fireman's Memorial, have the boys look down at all the bricks and find one that says "Ocean City Insiders". That's me! Well, not just me, but I was one of the original ones and I was the one who purchased the brick in our group's name. in 2012. I hope it's still there. You'll have to let me know if you find it.
Love your videos!! I’m a MD boy who married a GA girl while in the military and stayed south. Trying to talk her into moving North into retirement and your videos help!!! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for watching! I have a similar story too! Raised in MA and met my wife when I was in the Marines. We moved to her home state of MD when I EAS'd. I love it here and glad I moved.
We enjoyed the discovery center at Pocomoke. They have live otters there that they do feeding sessions at different times. Also enjoyed renting kayaks at snow hill on the Pocomoke River. We rented them there and at the state park. The state park area had Spanish moss that over hung in places.
Definitely a nice quiet and quaint looking little town that would be a worthy visit while in OC. Liked the park would like to sit a while and toss a line into the river and see what one might catch. Thanks guys for taking us along and introducing us to it. See Ya's next video.
I am going to hit that bakery when we come in town for St. Patrick’s weekend. The danish & croissant looked amazing. And I cannot resist a killer Boston Cream Donut!!!
The Pocomoke river is not dirty. The Black water is tannic acid from decaying leaves, cypress needles, and the heavy vegetation along its banks. The Pocomoke River's name comes from the Native American word meaning "black water" Some parts of the river are 83 ft +/- deep. For a few miles north and south of Shell Town Maryland the Pocomoke shares it's borders with Virginia. The Pocomoke River empties into Pocomoke sound before touching the Waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Goat Island is further up the bay near Popular Island. Although there are a few landowners along the Pocomoke River that raise goats. If you're going to kayak from Snow Hill to Pocomoke sound. I would suggest making that an overnight camping trip. You won't regret it. It's one of the most beautiful stretches of river in the state of Maryland. I would do it during cooler weather unless you plan to carry a lot of bug spray... lol Trump 2024💯🇺🇸
Snow Hill reminds me of some of our small towns in West Virginia minus the hills. It seems like a whole different world down there compared to Ocean City.
@@ReelJayB yeah it’s great. I’m not sure if they still do it but they used have a good date night type of special. I think it was one appetizer, two dinners, a dessert and a bottle of wine that you can take home if you don’t want to drink it there and I believe it was around $30.00
@@kevinw277 haha no worries! Jon is in the process of getting pictures of the house when they were there...so once I get some pictures I'll be going into a lot more detail of the build, boat house, what they did for activities, etc

There is a pizza shop called 4 seasons pizza on East Market Street in Snowhill. The pizza is good.

Nice video. I was laughing how Ashley was freaking out about the goats. lol Toy World looked amazing! Yes, Ninja Turtles! The Desserts looked good.

The items from the bakery looked good.
They were excellent!
I walk my dog around those parks on the river all the time. Don't forget to check out Public Landing as well!
I LOVE public landing! I think I did a video there a while back on my way to go clamming down there.
