I am from Grand Rapids and my husband, Brent is from the Zeeland & Holland area. Not many people really know how beautiful Michigan is and how our great lakes are truly a blessing!! I am sad you didn't highlight the musical fountain in Grand Haven, that is fun even after you have seen if 100's of times. Thank you for visiting our lovely state!! I hope more people will see how gorgeous the west side of Michigan truly is. Happy Travels! I hope you fell in love with our Mitten State!
I know other areas use the old line - "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes". But as you can see, it is literally true here in Michigan. P.S. Holland's TULIP FESTIVAL is in May, not March. It still snows off and on right into May, some years. P.S.2 - You were wise not to try the water when the wind is fierce. The undertow can be quite dangerous.
Grew up in Michigan and spent a good portion of my life there, having relocated, it fun to visit the places again with you - yep Michigan weather is notable!!!
Michigan weather is the most unpredictable of all the 50 states. When it's nice it's very, very nice though. My DIL went to Hope College in Holland. It's a cute town. To bad you didn't get to Ann Arbor, where my son went to college (Go BLUE). Ann Arbor has great restaurants, breweries and lots of cute shops and places to just walk around and enjoy the ambience of the best college town in America.
Been to Holland many times, have had more great weather than not so good weather, just bad timing 😕, beaches are great, as is the town , also have been to the farmers market and it is fabulous, travel safe
Beer that tastes like an Almond Joy and is 15%? Oh my... Getting in a magazine? Total win Shelter in place in the RV due to high winds at the beach? Ugh Finish a vlog with that sunset? Perfect !!!
This was a great vlog. Nice that you got to go to Holland and Grand Haven. Did you pick up some wooden shoes while there?😂. Just kidding! Sad you didn’t get there in time for the tulip 🌷 festival. They are really nice and fun. Nice you got to go to a brewery. Sorry you ran into bad weather and had trouble with your tire. I think they were getting part of that tropical storm. The food you had looked pretty good! Wherever you go next I hope you have better luck. Especially with the weather. Hope you had a great 4th of July. 🇺🇸. Have a great week travel safe. See you next Monday!
Hope you continue to travel north up the west side of Michigan. It only gets better and better. We fell in love with it several years ago the first time we visited and ended up purchasing a second home up there. WE live primarily in NC.
Lakes? We call them INLAND SEAS( WHICH THEY REALLY ARE)!! Just ask the ocean pilots of the freighters!! We probably have better beaches than Cali too. Michigan has the longest coast line of any state except Alaska. Our beaches are free, relatively uninhabited, wild, full of drift wood, sunken ships, scenic views, sand dunes( yellow, golden sand).
@@itsjustme7487 Thank you - we are actually here right now! Just got to the UP yesterday! Would love any suggestions - hard to go back and find all of the videos I watched on this area. We are in the Ottawa National Forest and will be heading towards the Stalwart / Goetzville area as a friend has property there. Beautiful so far!
@UCJA4xFWaYXKlXvvHGXyPuiA thanks - our friend suggested the locks - we will definitely go there. We watched boats go through locks in Scotland - very cool! The museum sounds interesting (we lived on a boat for many years). Might have to skip boat rides as we have a dog… and I didn’t see another post, except for your initial welcoming one!
Tulip Time in Holland is in May and primarily held downtown but there are events all over the city including the Northside. If ever in Grand Haven again you have to go to Arturo’s for your Mexican food!
In Michigan south west is around south heaven and down. Holland and Grand Haven is west Michigan with that said you need to go to Herm Michigan in January hehe they get a little bit of snow like 240 inches a season.I live 15 minutes North of Grand Rapids in a small town Comstock Park we only get around 77 inches a season. Happy traveling. July sounds good right now.
Greetings, I also have a Sprinter motor home and had similar issues with the valves on the rims/tires. I did the research and purchased and had installed the DL1SP Sprinter Valve Steam Kit, this is the only way to go. I got them from Shinyrv.com for $140, you really need to look at these. And while I am writing you, I also added Sumo Springs on the rear which almost completely eliminated the side sway, they are worth the money. One more thing, I live in Michigan, if you get the chance, visit the U.P., I can provide you with a few really nice places.
So you are welcome to come here in the Netherlands to see it all in real person :-) But don't think that the whole of the Netherlands looks like this! :-)
Also pro tip. MI state parks are super crowded this time of year. Consider National Forest camping and also casino campgrounds. Little River Casino in Manistee has a nice full hook up campground. That is where we stayed before we fell in love with MI and bought a house here.
Did I just see y’all in Sault St. Marie? ✌🏼💜👣 Don’t ya have the best times whenever you just embrace the suck? Crisp Point and the biting flies are about enough to drive one mad! The UP landscape has been worth every mile!
You are in my country. I was born in Holland Mi and love that town. Sorry the weather didn't cooperate. Keep following the lakeshore all the way to Traverse City. Stop in Muskegon, Pentwater, Ludington, Sleeping Bear National Park and then Traverse City. You must of been planning this trip for a while to get reservations at Grand Haven. Those campsites sell out in hours and same for Holland. Happy travels. PS: Take highway M22 from Frankfort to Sleeping Bear NP. You will not be disappointed.
Welcome to Michigan! So glad you guys are touring around our state - and yes we recently had some crazy rains and wind. But you are going to be very pleased if you can just stick around a little more and head north! :-)
I grew up in Holland as a kid and most of our family lives in Holland and Grand Rapids. Last month when we were in Michigan we didn’t get a chance to stop and see family due to RV issues. Many of the cities on the west coast all have inland lakes with channels out to the main lake.
Hi Dennis and Liz! I loved your vlog to SW Michigan. I have lots of cousins there and one that lives in Holland. It's a beautiful state! Enjoy and have a great week!
We live just outside of Marshall and we've left 75° weather and drove 4 hours north set up camp and woke up to snow in May. Glad you are trying to enjoy our State, try the Upper Peninsula and the many wonders of the U.P.
While I've been to Michigan I have only seen a tiny part of it and it's fun to see your travels even if it's an "off" week. I look forward to seeing Holland in person next time we are in the state! PS...your cat cracked me up when you were inside the rv talking about the winds the night before...he just POPS out and I couldn't help but laugh. Safe travels!
Weather be damned, you guys are wonderful. Maybe Marshall and Holland on our next May trip. You guys must do noodles of research to find all of these places. Bien Viajes!
Glad you made it to my home town of Holland. Liz, did I see you in Leland today? We camp up here every year at this time and love touring that area. Hope you guys enjoy your time here.
I just ate at Righteous last week. I just threw a graduation beach party for my daughter at the state park 3 weeks ago. Make sure you go get frozen yogurt at my sisters frozen yogurt truck at beach. It’s Wanda the wandering cow. Yummiest fro yo ever.
Even though I live in the South currently, I’m a Michigander. I lived in Grand Haven forever, and I still fly back there to work. Enjoy the place I call home.

Lol us Michiganders refer to the weather as if you don't like it wait 10 minutes and it will change 😅
I would say that's pretty accurate! lol

I hope your next stop is Mackinac and/or pictured rocks. It would be a huge mistake to get all the way to MI and not go to both places!
