Thank very much for sharing! I love very much the great lady and i read her books. This interview is a treasure! For many years I have been doing psychotherapy (15 years) and writing down my dreams. They are very important for the process of individuation.
I dream a lot and have had very vivid dreams which have helped me. One dream saved my life. I would also dream symbolically, like when a tyrant I had to deal with as a child was close to exploding into his dark personality side, I would dream he was H!tler in full regalia. The next day sure enough he would go off his head. It helped prepare me. I've had dreams of a loved one saying goodbye in a symbolic way letting go of the edge of a cable car and falling into a ravine, the next day the phone rang and I got the news he was dead. I am always having dreams about being misunderstood or disliked but I'm learning to care less about what people think so that's diminishing. My most recent dream was of a slither of moonstone and one stone that matched was in a silver setting for my ear and this was the stone but not in the setting. I think it's to do with connecting with the feminine and my intuition, to really connect more strongly and place it in the setting of my active life. I saw the moon tonight and it was a new moon a sliver of a curve and it was placed with Venus and I thought OK that's it. The moon is in Aquarius which is where it is for me natally. So this makes sense too. I am not sure that I really need someone to interpret my dreams. I was friends with a Jungian and we would talk about Jung and about symbols and our dreams. I also think some dreams are prophetic. Like the one I had that saved my life. I won't go into it but it really was fantastically accurate. When I was a child I had dreams of a fish being in my bed and I was afraid of its eyes. As a child I also had repeated dreams of a black car chasing me. But I really was being given a difficult time. I don't thing an amenable face is useful if the person who threatens you in real life. Best to take it literally then.
Loved the example of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza to give an idea of the ego and the shadow. One of greatest pieces of literature ever. Cervantes was a genius.
