I've been wearing a pair of ComfyCush Authentics as my "every day" shoe for almost a year. 11 months in and I have to say, I'm totally surprised at how well they've held up. I've been wearing Vans almost exclusively since like 2004. These are easily my most comfortable Vans I've ever had. So far, they've held up as well as any of the classic Vans I've had. @@AlexToma So, I bought a pair of Comfy Cush authentics and Pro authentics. I wore one of them to work and the other everywhere else. After about a year and a half, I've worn holes all the way through the soles of each. Gotta say, I've found them equally comfortable (except the Pro's took a week or 2 to break in whereas the Comfy Cush didn't.) The construction on the pro's maaaaay be a little higher. It's possible they've lasted like 10% longer, but there's really no way to know unless you actually track the miles you walk in each. In day to day wear I literally can't tell the difference. They're both fantastic IMO. I can never go back to regular Vans.
I’m a postal worker and bought a pair of these for work 3 years ago. Finally trashed them last week only because the eyelets started to fall out. The the rest of the shoes still held together. These shoes are actually really well made
Classic vans were colored similarly. Skaters then would get two different patterned shoes back in the 80's. The zephyr team was one of the first to be noted in solid colored vans. I mean most of the iconic vans are sorta wacky. Its always been that way. Look up van doeren print.
I also like them. Teenagers (me) are their target audience so we’re more likely to like them. A lot of Rose Anvil’s viewers are probably people who aren’t teenagers and construction workers/people who need good work boots. They don’t really understand how color blocks are popular and in right now
I recently replaced my old vans classics with the pros. I found them to be a compromise between the comfycush and the classics, they are also around the same price. They have the construction of the classics with a gripper long lasting sole, but also incorporate a comfycush mid sole. Normally I will wear boots year round but it is always good to have a light pair of shoes/
As someone who wears and loves Vans, I've never heard anyone describe standard Vans as "durable" or "long-lasting". If you've spent a lot of time in a pair of Vans (the regular, OG ones), you know that that rubber foxing tape eventually starts to separate from the canvas, and from the edge of the waffle outsole (especially at the heel and toe). A worn-in pair of Vans Vault shoes are my favorite, but the Pro version of every Vans classic silhouette is a must for extended wear, because you get the classic construction with added support and a removable and heavily cushioned insole.
I had these shoes and wore them to death. They lasted longer than any other normal pair vans i had before. And I like my shoes funky, so this is a definite yes from me.
I completely agree with ordering them a half a size larger. I bought them in my normal size and it took a couple months before they finally stretched a bit. But in terms of durability, they've been great for the past year or so.

HI. I just watched this one today. I am a BIG fan of the Comfy Cush line of Vans. It is practically all I buy. I bought a pair at least 3 years ago and still wear them. Been skating the comfy cush for the last 6 months and they are much more comfortable than regular and the pro vans that I have had In the past. They haven't worn out yet in those places you were concerned about. I normally wear through the sole of vans before anything else breaks. Loved my era comfy cush so much I'm on my second pair. Probably the best Vans shoes for skating in for me personally
You should do a review of a pro model of vans. I ride bmx and I can’t stand riding in anything that’s not pro. The pros are just so much h more comfortable
Yes! Sad they got replaced with the the skate line (even though those are still good), my black authentic pros were the best pair of vans I've ever had
I have a pair of the Comfy Cush slip ons and I actually love them over 6 months later. They have gotten very beat up and the comfy midsole foam is very prone to nicks and tears with everyday use. That being said, I've worn these for over 6 months almost daily. They show no signs of the binding giving up and aside from being very dirty and pretty well used they're in fairly good condition.
I have a pair of classic slip-on Vans, as well as a pair of low-cut classic Chuck Taylor's. I love the way the shoes look, I have since I was a teenager back in the 80s, and I'll likely continue purchasing both simply because of the style. That said, both Vans and Chuck Taylor's are crazy uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time, or for proper walking. They're basically slippers you can wear outside of the house for a minute without looking like you're wearing slippers. I always buy and put in an extra insole layer for a little added cushion/support, but It doesn't help much.
Honestly my vans where the comfiest shoes I owned! When I first started wearing them they did give me blisters, but once I bedded them in I lived in them!

I’ve worn Vans almost exclusively for the past few years and I’ve never had a problem with them. they’ve always felt great to me especially after a few months of wear and tear. Idk that’s just me though.
Still hoping to see Air Force Ones before the 100k Jordans! I think it would bring in a lot of people who would also want to see the Jordans and just may push you over the mark.
Totally agree! That would totally pull the attention from the sneakerhead community and add a lot of new subscribers. Also, it would be cool to see a pair of ebernon cut in half, so he can compare ebernon, AF1 and the Jordan 1, since those are three pairs that are classics and look quite alike, but each has its own following among the sneaker community
I got my first pair of Vans recently and I find them super comfortable. Usually finding shoes that fit my foot shape is a challenge so I'm very pleased with this discovery.
I used to think Vans were uncomfortable until I broke my pair in HARD, like I machine washed and dried it after hiking in a pair of slip-ons and honestly they are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever own. Really nice to just slip on a pair before grocery shopping or if I need to leave the house in a hurry.
I used to work for vans and man was it satisfying damaging out shoes we couldn't sell or donate. That rip of the canvas when you shove a razor through it is just *chef's kiss* and this brought me right back. I will say that I much preferred the surf siders that they used to sell as opposed to the new comfy cush. The comfy cush you have to wear in for it to be really comfy and mold to your foot, which is where the arch support is supposed to come from. The surf siders were just immediately much more comfortable and the ultrarange is the closest they have to that now, which I really love. In general, vans are made for people with narrow, flat feet, although the canvas shoes will stretch ever so slightly. If you have high arches like I do, I'd highly recommend insoles.
Converse 70s those are very comfy! I too agree the original converse are brutally uncomfortable I have several pairs I stopped wearing from high school. I heard about the 70s and have bought two pairs only because they are comfy and the shade of the color is new/unusual: sunflower, and parchment
I'm not too partial to the colorway myself. I would wear shoes like that but maybe in different colors. I think a purple, green, orange, and something else would look pretty cool
I obsessively watch your videos because I've always loved well made footwear, particularly leather boots, but despite that fact, in the past 6 or so years the only footwear on my feet about 90% of the time are barefoot minimalist types of shoes... Everything else just hurts if worn for more than part of a day. I was skeptic at first, years back, but I'm totally converted, if for no other reason than two pairs of amazing boots I've had for years that are perfectly formed to my feet and have been resoled twice but with years of wear left in them, both hurt my feet & back if I wear them too much. Barefoot is where it's at. But still.... I love your videos. :)
dude, i've been wearing vans for like 40 years. these comfy cush are the jam. i love 'em & they really last. i used to always put arch supports (i have nearly flat feet) in vans. first step after buying, insert those supports, because while vans have always been cool, not so hot on support. these friggin' comfy cush -- i wear 'em sans inserts. love 'em.
I’ve had a pair of the slip on comfy cush for at least 9 months and they have held up great considering I’m a big dude. I weigh 335 and I think they have held up better than the regular vans. The toe part you said would probably wear out fast is still in great condition and I work on cars daily so I’m always getting up and down off the floor. Love your vids! Keep it up
I think vans are more comfortable than converse especially for longer wear. I think vans are a good mixture of style(bc they have so many options for so many people) comfort, and affordability for all the different variations that you can have. I honestly love them, my favorite are their old skool velcro collection bc the laces tend to tighten up by the toe.
I've been using several models and styles of Vans since I was in highschool and I love to see how well they are made. I'm totally in love with Vans (but I have a few pairs of DC and Etnies also... He) and seeing this videos really supports my feeling of not only a cool shoe but and actually good one too! thank you!
Nice to see you again! I very much DO think that Chuck's are uncomfortable -- the arch support (which I need) is nothing and they transfer coldness very quickly when pavement is cold or wet. So there! (edit: PF Flyers make a version of Chuck's that are much better, imho.) Anyhow, the toe of this shoe reminds me of a running shoe -- where you get more of a rolling weight transfer off the ball of the foot -- or at least it looks that way. Great stuff as always. Glad you're doing okay.
Been wearing Vans for nearly 30 years almost on a daily basis so I wouldn’t notice until I spoil my feet. Ultra happy to have standard Vans all day long...which I do...some of Vans colour ways are bright, even hideous but I do love them. I go through about 3 pairs a year on average.
Always rockin the Vans High top Pros w full checkerboard print!! The insole is the game changer, Super Comfy !! If you skate hard they dont last as long as others, if you just walk etc they last forever.
vans uncomfortable? they are super comfy for me... l've been buying vans for 10 years. lt`s a loose type of shoe, of course adidas or nike are going to be more anatomic, but l love vans
I love the vans style, but I normally have to put an insole in my original vans pair, but since I tried out the pro model with the foam insole, I haven’t needed anything else to help with comfort. I haven’t tried the comfy Cush vans but to me, I wouldn’t sacrifice longevity since the pros are basically super comfy and they last just the same or even longer compared to the regular models.
Robert Paugh Yeah I’d probably suggest sticking to the Pro Models. But if you ever do get curious, look up the Vans Ultrarange. Personally I find the foam they use on those shoes to be more “squishy” than what they use on the ComfyCush shoes.
Great review. As a longtime Vans customer, I agree with your assessment regarding durability. I wanted to like the ComfyCush but they slip like crazy on my heels. I had to return 2 pair, I just can't wear them for long before they blister the crap out of my heels. One step forward, two steps back Vans ... fml.
I grabbed a pair of these in Black sometimes last year because they were cheap and I needed some for a trip. I wore them every day for 6 months and they are still going strong (while a little beat up) and they were comfortable from day one. Normally shoes would split or rip somewhere on the sole but these vans show minimal wear and tear on the sole, with most wear appearing on the canvas upper.
I love them, they're super late 80s early 90s! I also swear by Comfy Cush. I'm in food service and I stand all day, and walk to and from work, and my feet almost never hurt, and the soles are pretty nonslip until I wear them out!
Comfy and long lasting. Wore these for the better part of 3 years to school (played soccer and ran with these in recess often) before donating them because the upper was discolored and it didn't match with my school dress code. The original vans my friends had were falling apart, while mine held up.
I'm so impressed with this knife 😅 comfycush is the first type of vans I've bought and I enjoy this shoe so much, the comfort wins. I've got a popcush version as well, but its not the same at all. It's sad that there isn't more of a variety of comfycush vans online in South Africa struggling to find these shapes here by us.
ive had a pair of Vans Old Skool all black comfy cush for about a year and a half now, i walk about 10 km a day in them. they are not falling apart whats so ever. still very comfy. will probably never go back to regular vans.
I own a pair of comfycush, an older pair without the rubber outsole. Mine lasted through two spring/summers of wearing them about 50% of the time, they're still very wearable. They've been surprisingly durable the glue from canvas to midsole has held up better than on the regular rubber ones. I'm guessing the more flexible foam moves with the canvas where as the canvas rips off of the rubber in the originals.
I wear exclusively Vans although I used to wear Birkenstock. I had an accident with several fractures and spent time in a wheelchair with one working arm/leg and found the traction my Vans offered gave me outrageous speed with the one foot.
I live in Utah too! That quake freaked me out!!! They been talking about the “big one” my whole life! Glad it wasn’t bad. Love the content! Keep it up!
I grew up wearing Vans before they were cool. They were just a family business with good prices. It was the surfers and skateboarders of my era and region that made Vans famous. They're just a good practical canvas shoe. Every year my mom would take us to the shop on Wilshire Boulevard and 20th Street in Santa Monica. That was the original family store location.
I just bought a pair of comfycush instead of getting the same pair of eras after my old ones wore out, and I was really surprised by how uncomfortable they were lol I'm really considering returning them and ordering the eras instead
Fun Fact. Vans has had this foam for years now, the ComfyCush line is just them finally figuring out how to market it lol. When I was in high school (2013 ish), I had a pair of Vans called the Iso that I used for Marching Band practice. It had the same foam outsole, but it looked like a fake running shoe. Before this line of shoes came out, they were called “Vans Lite”, main difference was those had a full foam midsole vs these that have a layer of rubber on the bottom.
I had a pair of comfycush for 9 months now and it still pretty durable, the bottom of the midsole is kinda worn out a bit but the outsole is still looks as good as new. For comfort is decent, it started kinda stiff for me but just a few wears, it gets softer (does bottoms out a bit)
I must say I have a two pairs of Skechers shoes from only foam bottom which are super light and super cushioned for walkings over the office all day, where super durability is not on the point. And I'm realy satisfied with them for it's price.
Hey 👋 I recently found your channel, and have been avoiding buying new clothes and shoes for environmental reasons this year. Your channel has helped me realise how important it is to research the quality of a shoe before buying something new. Thank you for making these super informative and interesting videos.
Compare regular Vans to Vans Vault! Since the more minimal aesthetic of the Vault is subtle distinction in face value. It would be nice to see both when slice in half! Love your vids man
I think vans and converse are super comfy specifically because of the lack of arch support. I have ridiculously flat feet so any shoe that has any sort of arch in it actually hurts a lot. But I can always count on vans to be super flat! And from talking to friends, I think that's a pretty common experience. My friends with arches in their feet complain about how un-comfortable vans are and my fellow flat footed people say they're super comfy.
It took me a long time to buy myself some Vans. I had Converse for a really long time but they killed my feet everytime I wore them. So I was very hesitant before trying Vans. But man o man I love them^^ I'm someone who wears a pair of shoes everyday when I like it. I dont have much shoes but my Vans and my Waldviertler making my feet happy xD
They’re great if you have flat feet but there’s basically 0 cushioning to them. Canvas, rubber, and cheap foam insoles are really all you’re dealing with.
When I heard about the EQ I checked to see how far it was from Yellowstone. Still a good distance away. I have never had a pair of Vans of Keds that lasted more than 2 months.
I have a pair of these and I would definitely say the Comfycush Vans are very very durable. I wore them almost every day for the past year and apart from the dirt they are still in perfect condition. No real difference with the normal Vans. Okay you can easily rip them. But that is in no way a comparison to everyday use. The looks are ofcourse very personal. But for durability I would say these are great. (I use pro versions for skateboarding so no experience on that) Also I feel like the rubber classic sole from Vans rubs off easier than the foam. For some reason when you get trough the rubber in the foam. The foam just seems to last forever. I have a pair of Nike Janoski Max. They also have foam as a base and rubber for extra durability. I've had them for 5 years now. The rubber wore off in 1 year time. But the foam seems to be the same. The only thing is that the foam is a little squashed over time.
The classic vans with a comfy skate insole are spot on but last time I bought the pro Sk8-Hi Mte 2.0 Dx.... Holy fuck they're though, waterproof and super comfy best buy ever, from now on only buying those
Thanks for making our quarantine more bearable! I hope everything is fine in Utah because of the earthquake. For world standards it looked mild, but in places where are rare tend to be more destructive. Are you planning to do a video of the Balenciaga triple S?

I’ve worn Vans almost exclusively for the past few years and I’ve never had a problem with them. they’ve always felt great to me especially after a few months of wear and tear. Idk that’s just me though.
It's the 'almost exclusively' that explains your comment lol - try some other sneakers and you'll start to notice how uncomfortable regular vans are
I’ve been warring VANS since 1983 and I love them. I have two custom pair on the way right now I always get custom ordered VANS they don’t even match🤪
Lmao I’m enjoying everyone hating on these, id love to own these exact ones (in these colours too) I love them
I just typed, "I know the exact type of 'wipe that would wear these." And you're here!
ha ha there is a market for everything
Same here, they just have a fun unique vibe
I'm not too partial to the colorway myself. I would wear shoes like that but maybe in different colors. I think a purple, green, orange, and something else would look pretty cool
I went to pride in all of the colours of the rainbow *accidentally* so that probably tells you everything you need to know about my style
dude, i've been wearing vans for like 40 years. these comfy cush are the jam. i love 'em & they really last. i used to always put arch supports (i have nearly flat feet) in vans. first step after buying, insert those supports, because while vans have always been cool, not so hot on support. these friggin' comfy cush -- i wear 'em sans inserts. love 'em.
As a Vans employee I can surely say the Comfy Cush lasts just as long, and in a lot of cases even longer than the originals. They do look a bit silly.
Keep it up
Also they do run tight at first but they stretch a bit and break in nicely after a few wears.
They look like the shoe of choice for kid's gameshow presenters a la Pat Sharp or Timmy Mallet.
ha ha ha
Vans are def more comfy than converse. Looking forward to the Jordan 1s deconstruction.
Had my black and white old school comfy cush for a good few years, best vans I ever had
I had given up on vans some years go due to them being uncomfortable. Comfy cush have brought me back to them. Absolute game changer for me.
93.3k, almost there. I have nothing to say really, just doing my part for The Algorithm.
#Algorithmsquad
i love vans because after wearing them for a long time they break in to your foot shape like birkenstock’s
Well bro. I had a pair for a year and i havent been carefull with them. their are stil in perfect shape . So comfy AND strong
Great review. As a longtime Vans customer, I agree with your assessment regarding durability. I wanted to like the ComfyCush but they slip like crazy on my heels. I had to return 2 pair, I just can't wear them for long before they blister the crap out of my heels. One step forward, two steps back Vans ... fml.
I love Vans. They’re a legendary label. Rest in Peace to the Vans brothers. The elder bro croaked not too long ago at a ripe old age.
This guy must have a lot of single shoes hanging around his house.
Just imagine walking into his house and all you see is just left shoes everywhere
Gold mine for someone with one leg.
Vans were made for skateboarding and these are so rad. Pure Lords of Dogtown style!
Love how the kitty just moved right along and you didnt even slow down
Comfy and long lasting. Wore these for the better part of 3 years to school (played soccer and ran with these in recess often) before donating them because the upper was discolored and it didn't match with my school dress code. The original vans my friends had were falling apart, while mine held up.
The sound of you cutting shoes is so satisfying
I'm so impressed with this knife 😅 comfycush is the first type of vans I've bought and I enjoy this shoe so much, the comfort wins. I've got a popcush version as well, but its not the same at all. It's sad that there isn't more of a variety of comfycush vans online in South Africa struggling to find these shapes here by us.
Good to know. Glad you're still cutting footwear and posting vids. Stay healthy. Smart move making sure Toaster was included in the investigation .
ive had a pair of Vans Old Skool all black comfy cush for about a year and a half now, i walk about 10 km a day in them. they are not falling apart whats so ever. still very comfy. will probably never go back to regular vans.
I love these colors! I’m a child of the 80’s.
Keep it up!
I’ve been saying this on all your videos and I’ll say it again... the Pro models are much better than anything else vans has to offer.
Can’t wait for the converse 70 video! ❤️
The skate vans with the popcush insert would be cool to see next.
I just bought a pair of comfycush instead of getting the same pair of eras after my old ones wore out, and I was really surprised by how uncomfortable they were lol I'm really considering returning them and ordering the eras instead
I appreciate the knowledge from this videos and toastys guests appearances. I would love it if you made a vans sk8-hi pro skate cut-in half video!!!!
Please do the Palladium boots! They are super comfy, actually the best I got to wear so far. So I’m dying to know what’s inside! 🙏
I must say I have a two pairs of Skechers shoes from only foam bottom which are super light and super cushioned for walkings over the office all day, where super durability is not on the point. And I'm realy satisfied with them for it's price.
Im liking that sweatshirt. I like the budged up neck thingy. Looks super comfy
Love your vids man
You can see the arch support. compared to the regular models it's a big difference.
Finally comfy vans? I have to try these because I have super sensible feet
As a vans employee I always recommend popcush over comfy cush. The shoes are better built and last so much longer as they are in the skate shoes
my vans are soooo comfy (regular old skool kind) ive never heard anyone say they werent?
(I use pro versions for skateboarding so no experience on that)
Also I feel like the rubber classic sole from Vans rubs off easier than the foam.
These are actually super long lasting. Wore a paid of leather comfy editions for over a year. Great shoes
“Tearing these apart is going to be easy” then proceeds to use a razor for help 😂
I literally couldn't rip them at all ha ha i was really surprised how strong it was
Rose Anvil yes you admitted cool that you actually responded I’m watching a bookbag video now
Keep posting Bro! Nice videos, the boot resole was really cool.
It might be interesting to see a comparison of after market inserts/insoles.
The classic vans with a comfy skate insole are spot on but last time I bought the pro Sk8-Hi Mte 2.0 Dx.... Holy fuck they're though, waterproof and super comfy best buy ever, from now on only buying those
i have black one and It's pretty durable than you think .
Ok
Thanks for making our quarantine more bearable! I hope everything is fine in Utah because of the earthquake. For world standards it looked mild, but in places where are rare tend to be more destructive. Are you planning to do a video of the Balenciaga triple S?
The same type of person that would wear Yeezys would wear those ugly shoes. Even though they haven't heard of Balenciaga in their life until some idiot rapper mentions it.
@@xenonram you're right! Grab a beer.
I would stick to the pro model, they’re comfy, looks good and hold up way nicer
