    I think this is a great idea as long as the barrels shoot! I’m so sick of waiting on gun smiths!

    Can you guys produce a barrel that are two pieces? That way we can turn a 18" or 20" into a 24" or 26".

    I’ve got an old Savage 510 Hiawatha 30-06, circa 1975, it’s really not worth a re-barrel, but it’s got some sentimental value and I wouldn’t mind making it a shooter again. Strangely enough, Savage doesn’t know anything about the gun, couldn’t even tell me which scope base to put on it. Have your ever re barreled a Savage from that era?

    Logan, I'm a big savage fan, you can tell small vs large shank by simply measuring the length of the nut itself. Northland explains that very well on their web site. . Are these barrels better quality than Criterion? What would be the difference?

      The same shooters that create records using Criterion barrels can duplicate those same feats using other quality made barrels.

    Where do I find more info on your site about the remage barrel nut system that should fit in factory stocks or I assume stocks inletted for factory contours? For example I have my 700 aac in a grayboe renegade inletted for the factory sendero contour. Or am I misunderstanding?

    LOGAN,
    WOULD THE TOLERANCES BE ACCURATE ENOUGH ON A TIKKA T3X TO BUILD A SHOULDERED MULTI BARREL SWITCHBARREL RIFLE? I HAVE A TIKKA T3X TACTICAL .223 AND WOULD LIKE TO ADD A .223 AI BARREL AND A 6MM-.223 BARREL TO THE MIX.

    • @preferredbarrels
      @preferredbarrels  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, that is an option. You can add 3/4" flats as well for faster barrel changes in while in the chassis if the inlet allows it.

    I have a Remington 700, what would I need to turn it into a 6.5 grendel ?
    Help me if you can, I would love to have a BOLT gun in this cal.

    • @preferredbarrels
      @preferredbarrels  3 роки тому

      Other than a barrel chambered for the 6.5 Grendel, you would need a bolt face that matches it (.440" dia). Your current bolt will fire any of the cartridges that share that same diameter. Have a look at our chambers page for what other cartridges are compatible @ preferredbarrels.com

    Have you found any accuracy gains in a shouldered barrel vs a nut barrel?

    • @preferredbarrels
      @preferredbarrels  4 роки тому +1

      if the headspace has been set correctly there should be no difference

    • @planeiron241
      @planeiron241 4 роки тому +1

      a barrel nut tends to stretch when you torque it headspace can enlarge but only a minute bit..if the threads on the barrel are undersized this can happen which they are because it's run a cnc lathe..where as a gunsmith type lathe will be done by hand and indicated in..where as a cnc is programmed not by feel...but listen I have savages and use the nut and shoulder..the nut is fine my guns all shoot great .1 to .5 depending on the cartridge you get ..if your shooting comp and want tiny groups go with the shoulder..if your just shooting but like some accuracy get a good prefit criterions shoot well great for steel and paper punching for your ego..if you have a gunsmith and he specs your action you can have him do all your barrels and you just screw them in and shoot.

    • @dragonflyfab8982
      @dragonflyfab8982 4 роки тому

      If the accuracy of a gun smith is by feel, the accuracy of a CNC is programming and the precision is by the quality of the machine. Accuracy is the deviation from the standard and precision is its repeatability. The benefit of CNC thread generation is the surface speed of the tool. Not too many smiths can thread at 400 surface feet per minute.

      Mass production and cutting to "one size fits all" specs have their place........but don't be fooled they are called precision rifles for a reason.
      Big name firearm companies have forgotten more about mass production than little barrel spinners know (who think they are hotsh*t with an entry level HAAS lathe).......keep in mind mass production and cutting to a general spec literally created a market for precision firearms work decades ago........
      When was the last time you bought anything "one size fits all" that fit like it was specifically made for you???
      Prefit barrels work OK for some people.........more demanding shooters use shouldered for a reason.
      Just my $.02

    Hi Guys, I currently own 3 Criterion prefits and they are for sure great shooting barrels. Very easy to load for and shoot bughole groups. Is there anything your team does differently to make your barrels better ? I'm in the market for another barrel and just doing my homework. Plus one like and I subbed.
    Thanks
    Jp
