That is the happiest bassist I've seen in a long time. His absolute joy at playing this wonderful music is so infectious. Love these guys.
It’s a drag that there’s only a Like button. Phenomenal Job Guys! 🙂👍
Sill is the best Holdsworthian player I've heard. Super improvising..
i just discover this guitarist , awesome !!!
@Andy Butler Dude.
And composer
Have you heard Tim Miller?
@@markg2861 Yes, I have an album by him. Great player!
super great performance on Allan`s Sixteen Men of Tain. I really love the fact that there are still musicians out there appreciating his work. Because I`m a drummer too... great drumming job because this tune is not easy to play. Thank you all!
God bless Allan Holdsworth and his family; every time I listen to his music I feel enriched.
Alex Sill nailed it! Incredible work!
What a band. This kid can play guitar, Holdsworth would be proud.
allan actualy like players that sounded nothing like himself. remember; allan hated his own playing. this is obvious if you ever saw him play live, or met him. he personally apologized to ME, in the MIDDLE OF A SOLO, to 'fred' when he was pissed at his drummer for showing up late, in LA, 2010. allan was clearly lost in the changes of that simple song and played every 'wrong' note you could imagine, while the drummer played the song with ONE HAND, while texting his girlfriend, whom he was fighting with . allan HATED his playing. and he really didn't like imitators. no, not at all... `
He was a great guide to my playing years ago.
Not that I can play anything like him and.never will be able to but what inspiration to all.guitarists
From what ever style you play.
Thank you.
Graham D smart
it's the reaching for beauty and fire thing that allan stood for. his playing has LOTS of flaws. one of my main problems with allan is his total lack of theme and motif. you can try to impose some, in your mind, but you're deceving yourself. allan's lead playing is just very random, but his gorgeous tone , style and emotion cover all that up.
Great that Sill didn't ape all of Allan's lines, rather honored the song and style with his own voice. Now this is the way a tribute is done.
This song brings tears to my eyes...this is the sound of love and light.
Exemplary! Beautiful and moving.
Beautiful
This tune was meant to be a jovial, collaborative piece - all the men entrusted with the task of joining together to create something specific and beautiful ! Sixteen men spent their energy, originally. Allan would approve of this effort ! "Tain" derives from the nearby River Tain, the name of which comes from an Indo-European word meaning 'flow'. Apropos !
I’m so glad Allan’s music is so loved and respected by so many great players and awesome people. Truly encouraging. Thanks all!
Sill and Hunt work so well together, Hunt is catching all of Sills language and comping it back to him. Great combo too, this group really did this song justice! That drummer seems to be playing on most of the tunes for this concert, great feel, really tasteful dynamics.
it is so hard to solo over those changes
great job
The force is strong in this one
Absolutely NAILED it! The best cover of any of Allans tunes ANYWHERE!!
And here I thought I was the only one who took solos like a Jew at the Wailing Wall! Beautiful tribute to the songwriter and king of guitar.
for a few years after downloading the box set every time i got in my car and my iphone connected, this was the first song that played automatically/alphabetically. and i never got tired of that. now it is abingdon chasp from tales from the vault. allan is trying to get my attention.
Never heard of Alex Sill before. Really nice tribute!
Love this! What a great tribute to Maestro Holdsworth.
My life has been a poor attempt
To imitate the man
I'm just a living legacy
To the leader of the band
I am a living legacy to the leader of the band...
Great job Alex
Shepherd on bass, oh wicked !!!!!!
Allan H and Dave C are digging this...RIP my jazz heros
We get a handful of geniuses each century. Coltrane, Parker, Hendrix oh & Allan Holdsworth
Alex has to be one of the best players of Allans music & style
Such huge boots to fill, but that sound still haunts the soul. Keep it alive
Amazing performance of this classic tune - one of AH's best compositions imho. Fantastic playing from the whole band. Thanks so much for these videos - it means a lot to all of us that could not be there for he Memorial.
These guys did the impossible
Just boght Alex's album after the Kiesel guitar youtbe add. Incredible how, being so able to play Allan's style, his music is not even similar, nor the solos. Great job, finding your voice and uniqueness, Alex. By the way, off topic, love your shirt!
The great man would be smiling and giving this a big thumbs up😀😀
One of if not the best replicator of holdsworths playing. Mix in guitar louder & drums a little less loud. Actually this music hardly needs drums
Brilliant playing by all 👍👍
Great performance guys. So here is where Allan's legacy begins :-) No one really disappears, as long as you remember him.
Such Truth and beauty in these words
Stellar group of musicians here. Alex Sill has a bright future, just got his new CD. He's one fine guitar player.
Beautiful solo-channeling Holdsworth while remaining original. Amazing!👍👍
He's alive in us all!
Alex, you did it again! sounds great
Alex, thanks!!! Love your playing. Please come to Holland with this great band, All the best!!
Who would give it a thumb down? This an excellent cover and audio production is superb.
Probably a jazz radio DJ.
Sounds really nice. Wow Allan chops...amazing
Amazing musicians..............
good job! in memory of Alan
great guitar work.
Awsome!!!! Steve Hunt is cool dude met him in Somerville Massachusetts @ a Holdsworth show @Johnny Dee's.. I told him he looks like an in shape Rick Wakeman of YES. Everyone laughed because he does! Lol
Great fingers! Fantastic playing, all round :-)
Wow tocar cómo Allan holdsworth lo que muchos deseamos. Felicitaciones desde Argentina
Alex, brilliant!
To me personally, Joel is the best drummer that played with Allan, i just love his fluid drumming
Joel and Novak, absolutely.
@@henriqueccruz Gary Novak = my fave !!!!!

WOW!!!! If Holdsworth had a son, Alex Sill would be him.
Excelente.....
THUMBS WAY UP!!!!!
🙂🙂🙂
Should put that banner logo at the bottom of the screen so we get a better view.
IT would be too easy to crop if it were ...right??
This kid Sills is now Sasuke to me
1:14 the lick
fantastic but he doesn't have his own voice.
It's so weird how this guy looks like Michel Cusson...
Did not Holdsworth create an album with Taylor? What about the pieces never released for the new album?
Impressive feat of tribute but does anyone here really think that Allan wanted people to try (
This was so tight. Where can I find guitar tabs of the chords?
