  • This is hard for me too. I don't offer my answer with a calloused heart or without considering how difficult it really is. But, I hope that in my own limited attempt to offer help you will find some wisdom and hopefulness. My answer will probably fall short but I am really just saying "wait" because the full revelation of the glory and goodness of God will answer this for you in due time.

I just loss my oldest daughter to murder/suicide, and then my oldest son to drug overdose Fentynal within two months apart. People tell me, OH you'll see them in Heaven, but I don't know that, and what thier walk with Jesus truly was. But like Job, I will never doubt the will, way, and purpose of God. So I keep my eyes on Jesus, not looking to the left, or right, and keep running the good race, and fighting the good fight. For I know my faith in Jesus the size of a mustard seed, will move my mountains, and that same faith in Jesus, will help me overcome the obstacles along my journey that the Precious Lord has blessed me with AMEN.

Unhappily, you are correct. An eternal, everlasting torture chamber, kept in existence and sustained by a God of love is antithetical to common sense.
I am not saying that you should have abandoned ship. There were probably other reasons as well. However, had you spoken to me before abandoning Him, I would have showed you from the Bible that clearly, God is not a God who tortures people for the endless ages of eternity. That doctrine is straight out of satans plan to deceive people into believing a God of Love is actually evil.

the false hellfire doctrine is what brought me to become one of Jehovah's Witnesses , and I know that God does not burn people for all eternity for what a person did over a 70 or 80 years of life and sinning. 4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish." if our thoughts perish then how can we feel pain in the false hellfire with no conciousness at Ecc 9:5. Your dead love one are not in a hellfire they are dead. Romans 6:7

Good question! My heart also hurts for all my unsaved friends and family. My 22 year old moved out behind our backs, cut us out of her life and also told us she is not a christian but that she had “tried to be”. When I think of what awaits her if she doesn’t come to faith, it definitely makes me cry. I pray for her daily to come to faith. I was able to share the gospel with my 93 year old Grandmother and she came to faith 2 months before she died. One thing that has helped me a lot this year is seeing the betrayal of humanity toward God from the very first pages of Genesis. And tracing that thread through the entire bible. It brings me to tears. His judgment is right and true… and he is so full of grace and mercy, and patience for us to come to faith, yet we don’t deserve it. Praying for all the hearts that are hurting over unsaved friends and family. God bless ❤

Please hear Truth, my friends .The Truth of the matter is this. GOD IS HOLY, and we are born of sin, we inherited our sin nature from Adam and Eve. And thus we are of darkness. And we can not stand before an HOLY GOD and not be obliterated. Just like when one turns on a light in a dark room, it obliterates the darkness, because light and darkness can not share the same space.
So GOD wanted to have us back into HIS presence and live. Therefore HE came down as a man to suffer and die for our sins and rose again so as that anyone who would be Born Again into His Family, could now inherit Eternal Life. Because we become part of The Light .
Those who are in hell, chose their destination.
Hell was originally made for the devil and his imps, because they no longer desired to be of The Light. So thus GOD removed HIS presence from them which created Hell. So because we are all sons of Adam and daughters of Eve through their decision to join with the devil , decided for us also to join in the darkness of sin and the devil.
Now GOD seeing it’s not fair for us, and because of HIS great love for us, Came down to offer us a New Inheritance, if we are Born Again in Him according to Acts:2:38. That Scripture is the process that’s necessary to change our inheritance from Sin and death to LIFE JOY AND HAPPINESS IN YEHOSHUA HAMASHIACH! That’s why there are two testaments. Two ‘wills’ Old Testament of Adam and Eve, and New Testament of Yehoshua HaMashiach.
Hence the reason there are two testaments in the Bible. Adam and Eve in their ‘WILL’ left us an inheritance of sin and death. But GOD coming down in The Flesh as the Man Christ/ Yehoshua died and left us an inheritance of Life Eternal..
just like when a baby is born there is always water and Blood. Same in Christ , He says in John 3:5 we MUST be Born Again of Water and of The Spirit else we can NOT enter The Kingdom of GOD.
THUS everyone who is in Hell made that choice.
It’s NOT that GOD wanted it this way, and it’s not that HE’s punishing them, they chose their own destiny and GOD will NOT interfere with our choice.
That is also why the doctrine of believing only is evil. Even Yehoshua said in Mark 16:16 He that believeth AND is Baptized shall be saved. Now what saves us if we do these things? The Holy Ghost. When one repent and is baptized in YEHOSHUA HAMASHIACH Name then the HOLY GHOST SHALL fill us evidenced by speaking in heavenly tongues as all did through out the book of Acts ,and save us from Damnable Hell fire.
Please remember all those scriptures about believing and having Faith in the letters from the apostles, were all written to saints, not sinners. The letters were instruction on how to Stay clear of GOD’s wrath which fall upon HIS disobedient children. And how to believe that if we sin after we are Born Again that Christ Blood will cleanse us even from that sin.
I pray that you will have the understanding of Salvation , I Lobe you all!

@@steadfastunmoveable9751 Blah Blah Blah ... Same old same old, think of how many people would be converted to Christianity if your God put in an appearance and proved beyond doubt that he existed.
A trick he could perform to that end would be if he appeared on every television channel and computer screen throughout the world for one hour, regardless of whether the device was plugged into a power source or not, in fact everybody could turn their TV off and he would still be there explaining his policies and telling people all over the world how they should live their lives.
Once the show was over nobody could complain that they had not been told and there would be no excuses for wavering, many people on UA-cam claim to have visited Jesus and if they are to be taken at their word then there is no reason why God should not appear to everyone and put the story beyond doubt.
Your God is supposed to be omnipotent and can do anything so this miracle surely could not be beyond him, if he really desires people to live by his beliefs and end up in Heaven he could do this and then there would be no reason for him to hand his creations (who he says he loves) over to Satan and the torture pit.
And this brings up another question, If his subjects have been unfaithful to him and haven`t led pure and chaste lives why doesn’t he just kill them and then they could be in the same state as they were before they were born, why have them perpetually punished? Surely being burned and tortured forever is a little harsh when he professes to love them, that love seems very shallow.
No doubt the purveyors of religion will find some words in the bible which preclude God from appearing to us or showing some understanding and mercy, maybe the invisible guy in the sky isn't really there and mankind has been deluding itself for Centuries.
What a basic premise this so called God has been operating under, "Devote yourself to me or I'll throw you into the fire"

This is probably the best I’ve heard on the topic. My father died two years ago in November and I honestly never thought I would survive his death if he ever died outside of Christ.
He was an alcoholic most of my life. He was abusive and I remember as a child just praying to have my dad. To have a real dad.
My dad got sober. And I prayed he’d get saved. I prayed. I shared my testimony with him. I did my best to navigate his sobriety and disbelief with my childhood trauma and foundation in Christ.
Dad never came to Christ. And I am blessed to know Gods mercy was upon him in this life. He got sober. We had ten great years. My three kids never knew the angry drunk he used to be. Only the most amazing grandpa they mourned losing.
God is my true father. He has sustained me through it all and the thing I thought I could never get passed is one I can now accept. Do I understand it all fully? Nope. But we don’t know anything fully. We’re not God.
But He is good. He is just. And whether He calls out family members out of their sin isn’t up to us but we still do what we can with hope and trust Him with the rest in all things.
My husband recently told me he no longer thinks he’s a believer. We’ve had some hard years. So right now I truly am the only believer on both sides of my family (aside from our 12 year old who professes faith, please pray for her)
But I appreciate you’re channnel brother and your your thoughts. They have helped me through so much the last few years.

So much of my family tried to show my cousin the truth and lead him to the Lord, but (to our knowledge) he never accepted that. I don't know if I've done a good job of it... but anytime I start to feel the despair start to creap back in, I just take a moment to pray. First thanking God for my salvation and for the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life, and then humbly asking for any guidance that might help, then lastly just praying that if it be God's will, please touch their hearts... help them to see through the wickedness that seems to be invading every aspect of daily life... the constant "be/ or you are your own god" type messaging that is everywhere!! The new age MANIFEST your dreams!! Etc.
I pray that some how the veil that seems to be covering so many's eyes... that it be lifted so that they might see... but make sure to ask for forgiveness for that fear/anxiety and to resurrender fully to the will of God... in conversation with God I try to find the words to fully express the thoughts and feelings that lead me to fear or worry about things I have no buisness to... I am a worrier by nature, I have had a very hard life, all I've ever really known is heartache and loss... I believe the lord is working on my heart, helping me to put all those broken pieces back, and though it is hard, is teaching me how to be patient and how to live KNOWING that he's got it all under control...
Thank you once again Mike for broaching topics others shy away from....and thank you Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, and Holy Spirit for being with me always!! And for helping me discover little by little that I AM loved and lovable... I'm so so very thankful for your love and grace... please help me continue on this path of discovery... I pray this person too finds the strength to speak with you Father, to pour out their fears, and replace them with the joy and peace that only you can provide...

This is a very sensitive issue. I can tell you from experience as the one that was not saved it can take time. Personally it took me getting away from all those that were hounding me to go back to church. At the time I had several members of my family asking multiple times per week if I was coming to church. They couldn't accept my answer of "not now but I will eventually" so it turned to a no just to spite them and then went from no to I don't believe. Within 3yrs of moving away I was getting baptized and rededicated myself to the Lord.

This is truly a difficult struggle. For most of my Christian life, I was the only believer in my family. I remember praying specifically for my grandpa about 10 years ago. I prayed not only that he would come to Christ, but that, as the patriarch of our family, the Spirit would flow through him and on into the rest of the family. Four years after that prayer, he finally became a believer (at 99 years old!!), and now he's in heaven. Within a year of his death, my mom and I started having conversations about God, and two years after that, she became a believer. Then my dad started going to church with us, and I don't know exactly where he stands, but he's closer than he ever was before, and much more open to those kinds of conversations. And now my mom is trying to reach out to my sister and her family. A decade later, I can look back and see how God is answering that prayer in his own time, and flowing through my family, one person at a time.
I share this in the hopes of encouraging anyone else who struggles with the pain of loving people who don't know or accept Jesus yet. Keep loving your family, and know that God loves them even more than you do, and longs for their salvation more than you can even imagine. Keep praying for them, holding them up to the only one who can save them. And take any opportunities you can to share with them (according to your family dynamics and circumstances). You never know what God can do in and through them.

I've wrestled with this as well. There have been nights where I've lain awake for hours, tears streaming down my face. I remember one particular instance when I was reading a book about hell. By the second chapter, I found myself overwhelmed with despair, sobbing into my pillow at the weight of the reality of eternity and hell. It wasn't just for my loved ones, but for everyone who denies or has denied God and is now dead. I couldn't bring myself to finish the book because it was taking a toll on my mental health. To me, this isn't so much about the goodness of God, more so that I've questioned whether my loved ones will ever choose His goodness over their own desires.
I'd be dishonest if I said that even twenty years later, I'm not still grappling with this issue. Why? Because I deeply care. I believe it's due to His goodness, His love for us, and His desire for none to perish. He's already done His part, willingly enduring what He did on the cross to save us. Now, the choice lies with us. It's a deeply personal decision. Is it difficult? Absolutely!
There's this misconception that if people end up in hell, they'll suddenly desire God. I highly doubt that's the case. We must place our families at the feet of Yeshua, knowing that He loves them more profoundly than we ever could. We should fast, pray fervently for their eyes to open and their hearts to soften to His voice, and for them to embrace and live for Him. Keep sowing those seeds. I'll pray for your loved ones as I do for mine. Also, remember, we can't fully grasp how others' hearts are being ministered to. As long as there's breath in our lungs, there's hope. Don't lose hope, dear brother. God desires them, loves them, and we can trust Him no matter what choices our loved ones make.

Yet, is it not also true that Jesus said it was "everlasting fire" prepared for the devil, and that it will be happening only on judgement day, after the sheep and goats are gathered before him? Today is the day for prayer for family & friends that they come to repentance: God wishes all would come to him, and for those who don't he is merciful so that most likely they be consumed in the fire and not suffer forever.

I encourage you to consider what the leading early church fathers believed. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised:
"Christ saves all men. Some he converts by penalties, others who follow Him of their own will ... that every knee may be bent to Him, of those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth" [Isa. 45:22-23, Rom. 14:11, Phil. 2:10-11, Rev. 5:13] -- *Clement of Alexandria,* _Commentary on 1 John_
"When death shall no longer exist, nor the sting of death, nor any evil at all, then, verily, God will be All in all" [1 Cor. 15:28,55] -- *Origen,* _De Principiis 3:6.3_
"What else does 'until the times of universal restoration' signify to us, if not the aeon to come, in which all beings must receive their perfect restoration?" [Acts 3:21] -- *Eusebius,* leading historian of the early church, _Contra Marcellum __2:4:11_
"A few drops of blood renew the whole world, and become for all men that which rennet is for milk, uniting and drawing us into one." [Col. 1:15-20] -- *Gregory Nazianzus,* _Oration 42_
"Christ captured over again the souls captured by the devil, for that He promised in saying, 'I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto Me.'" [John 12:32, 1 Peter 3:19-20, 4:6, Psalm 68:18, Eph. 4:8-10, and maybe Matt. 12:29] -- *Athanasius,* _Expositions on the Psalms, 68.18_
"The peace [coming] from the Lord is coextensive with all time [eternity]. For all things shall be subject to him, and all things shall acknowledge his empire; and when God shall be all in all, those who now excite discords by revolts, having been quite pacified, [all things] shall praise God in peaceful concord." [Psalm 145:10a, 1 Cor. 15:28, Rev. 5:13] -- *Basil,* _Commentary on Isaiah 9:6_
"So the Son of Man came to save that which was lost, i.e., all, for as in Adam all die, so, too, in Christ shall all be made alive." [Luke 19:10, 1 Cor. 15:22] -- *Ambrose,* _Exposition on the Gospel of Luke 15.3_
"For the wicked there are punishments not perpetual, ... but they are to be tormented for a certain brief period, according to the amount of malice in their works. They shall therefore suffer punishment for a short space, but immortal blessedness, having no end, awaits them; ... the penalties to be inflicted for their many and grave crimes are very far surpassed by the magnitude of the mercy to be showed them. The resurrection, therefore, is regarded as a blessing, not only to the good, but also to the evil." [Isa. 57:16], *Diodore,* _De Oecon_
"Some among the wise and learned … have alluded to this in an enigmatic way, by adducing that God is not only just, but also merciful, and that it becomes the One who judges with justice to have sinners suffer in a measure that is proportional to their sins and then make them worthy of blessedness." -- *Theodore,* _Liber Scholiorum, 2:63_
"'All the kings of the earth shall adore him.' Some, indeed, in the present life willingly, but all the rest after the Resurrection; for not yet do we see all things subject to him, but then every knee shall bow to him." [The "kings of the earth" are rebellious unbelievers in Rev. 6:15, 17:2,18, 18:3,9, 19:19,21 ... but check out what happens in Rev. 21:24-27!] -- *Theodoret,* _On Psalm 72:11_
"Death shall come as a visitor to the impious; it will not be perpetual; it will not annihilate them; but will prolong its visit, till the impiety which is in them shall be consumed." [Matt. 5:26] -- *Jerome,* _On Micah 5:8_
"After the complete abolition of sin, praise shall be sung to God; which praise contain (implies) our being incapable of turning to sin ... when every created being shall be harmonized into one choir ... and when, like a cymbal, the reasonable creation, and that which is now severed by sin ... shall pour forth a pleasing strain, due to mutual harmony. Then comes the praise of every spirit for ever abounding with increase unto eternity." [Psalm 150] -- *Gregory of Nyssa,* _On Psalms, Tract 1, ch. 9_
Other church fathers who believed in eventual universal salvation include *Asterius, Bardaisan, Cyril of Alexandria, Didymus the Blind, Dionysius, Ephrem the Syrian, Gennadius, Hilary, John Cassian, John Chrysostom, Marcellus, Maximus the Confessor, Maximus of Turin, Methodius, Paulinus, Proclus, Titus of Basra & Victorinus.*

Thanks Mike. When I sometimes think of the thousands of years of suffering this world has experienced, it’s almost overwhelming. Then I think about the parable of Lazarus and the rich man who went to Hades. He never once complained about the judgement he was suffering under, or even showed any remorse or regret. So it will be for all who end up in that situation I believe.

When my mom died, I had no idea if she had been saved or not. She struggled a lot in life. Any time I would ask her to go to church she would decline. She always would say she would go when she was ready. I wonder if she had the idea that she needed to get herself together before she actually went to church. For roughly 22 years I had no idea if she was saved or not. One day I ran into a family member, and we were discussing family stories of the past and I mentioned my mom and not knowing where she is at (heaven or hell) and my cousin told me, your mom was saved and told me when. It was such a relief, then I began to remember things like coming home as a teenager and seeing my mom in bed reading her bible. I realize that reading the bible doesn't equal salvation but those were just things I saw that let me know that despite how it looked to me, my mom wasn't that far from God. It was a comfort finding out that my mom was saved. It gave me peace. I truly believe God allowed me to find out to help me in my journey.

These kind of thoughts have been weighing heavily on me lately, and the concept of loved ones not being saved is incredibly painful. If we are separated from loved ones in heaven, and there is no more pain when we are there, then surely we must think and feel in a completely different way than we do right now.

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Rev 21:3-5
I am uncertain, it may be that there is a time of Mourning and being Comforted since God is said to "Wipe away every tear from their eyes".
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
      ...
      a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;" Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

    • @steadfastunmoveable9751

Why do family members who follow a false faith (Mormonism) destined for hell? I pray the Lord will open their eyes and rescue them, but hearing this, it makes me realize and ask myself, am I trying to judge my God in any way? I cannot apply sound reasoning (yet) as to why His judgements work as they do, but I realize one day, I will, and that will be when I am with my Lord God in the near future.
Until then, will continue to just pray and talk with the Lord about my concerns, and ask him to bring peace into my heart and mind and soul, knowing I do not understand, but put my faith and trust in him.

@@leecooper3852 I’m sorry, friend. You’re mistaken if you think that biblical references to hell are simply references to death.
      Luke 12.4-5:
“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, *after He has killed,* has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!”
Jesus seemed to believe (and He’s right) that Hell was something more than the “grave.”
Furthermore, you’re correct that the Hebrew word “Sheol” appears in the Old Testament and is translated “hell” in many translations. However, surely you know that the New Testament is not written in Hebrew, but Greek. Here, in Luke, Jesus uses the Greek word, “γέεννα,” or “Gehenna,” which was the name of a valley in Jerusalem where filth and dead animals were cast out, piled up, and burned.
Jesus says *that’s* what it will be like *after death* for those who do not fear God.
      Edit -
Call it what you want, but the scriptures are very clear that an eternal afterlife of darkness, fire, pain, weeping, and gnashing of teeth is all we have to look forward to… unless we trust in the grace and mercy of God.
