This actually explains Cox's full relationship to JD. He couldn't get close to an intern again because he was cut too deep. Although Season 9 isn't really Scrubs you can see that JD healed those wounds as Dr. Cox is more open to mentor Drew.
i dont know man I rly liked what they did in 9 season. Old characters got developed even more, new characters come in, swapping a little old dogmas. I only didn't liked the fact, that Lucy had similiar imagined situations like JD had. But overall I thought its cool series
I love how this moment lifts the facade on Petey. Up until this point he's like the metor JD never had, but by the end of the episode you see him (almost desperately) hit on a nurse and then you really get a sense of what sort of a guy he is
That level of betrayal is just absolutely unforgivable. When you consider what kind of person Dr. Cox is after everything you've ever seen in Scrubs you know just how much it meant for him not only to accept being someone's mentor, but even their friend who he trusts and they do that shit. After learning why they didn't get along anymore I hated Petey forever.
zeng22 I know, but he's still most at fault for consciously initiating it. Cox even pointed out for the audience he took advantage of both their feelings during that difficult time and ultimately caused the most damage. It's unbelievable seeing how cool he was dealing with him only to find out he burned that bridge.
GolSil2468 Aww come on. Cox is a egomaniac. As soon as something doesnt turn out his way, he cries like a baby. What about jordan? She wasnt raped, she cheated. So Cox cant let the past rest because of his stubborness. Thats weak.
David Kalai if someone you thought you could trust weaseled their way into bed with your wife during a major breaking point, would you not be furious with them? Whatever Cox did to reconcile with Jordan is their part but for someone to take that info and stab you in the back with it is the lowest of the low.
From the point of view of Dr Cox, he and Jordan were going through a rough patch and he confided in Petey, and next thing he knows Petey and Jordan slept together. He can forgive Jordan because he blames himself as much or more than her for their marriage being in a state in the first place, but Petey in his eyes just slept with a vulnerable woman who was the wife of one of his friends and doesn't seem especially repentant or guilty, so he's the bigger jerk here. Unlike Jordan and Cox, Petey wasn't going through a rough patch or anything when he did that- he's just a horny asshole.
If this was ONE act of weakness by Petey and he was an otherwise decent person there might be some weight to these counterarguments in this thread. Trouble is he is a manipulative prick, and all that betrayal of Cox's trust did was show off who he actually was. Don't believe me? Watch the rest of the episode, and how he uses JD to hurt Cox and once JD realizes that he dumps him without a second thought. We make jokes about Cox being a narcisistic psychopath, but Petey is that by clinical definition: obsessively vain, motivated solely by personal gain, only mimicing feelings like sadness and hurt feelings, and zero empathy for those around him. Textbook psychopath with narcissistic tendencies.
Chris Not really. They had been separated for years and JD had no idea that she was Cox's ex. He felt so guilty about it he ended it. Sure she only thought of it as a one night stand, but the intention was good
It has no more weight to it. At that point, Jordan was long Dr. Cox’s ex-wife. Petey did it DURING their crumbling marriage and was likely the dagger that killed it. JD did it long after the fact and before Jordan and Dr. Cox were involved again.
Seeing that cox is a genuine guy who just has a little trouble expressing intimacy and love makes this situation with petey seem much much worse. But it also makes his final speeech about JD much much sweeter. Same situation with JD and Petey except JD wasn’t aware who Jordan was. So for Cox to forgive JD even tho most people would’ve just seen it as exact copies makes their relationship a little sweeter.
Yup, at this point in the show it's the thing that seperates JD and Petey as Cox's protégés. JD would've never slept with Jordan at the time if he knew who she was, whereas Petey knew everything about her and used that to his advantage for his own selfish desires
In his defense, JD didnt know that was Dr Cox exwife. Cox even said in a later episode he got that. He was more hurt by the fact JD lied after finding out
Don't forget It was Jordan who told Dr Cox wanting to watch shit hit the fan but Dr Cox was mad at Dr Kelso more than J.D hell J.D didn't run like Kelso
0:22 oh JD how can your grandma buy you a piece of stock when you told Dr. Cox she died. I feel that was an opportunity miss for Perry but then again he doesn't care.
@@rvrmdude JD's face is much more punchable. but granted, despite the questionable things JD has done (and there are a lot of those) he would never would have done something as bad as what petey did, and at the very least would feel bad about it. so yeah petey is a more horrible person than JD.
Women are blamed, but in this case, the majority of the hatred goes to the guy who used information his friend confided in him to nail said friend's wife.
Cox doesn't blame Jordan because he admits that he was so consumed with his work that he neglected her. Pete abused both his friend confiding in him and a vulnerable woman. Context matters, man.
Actually women are almost always blamed for this. When a woman cheats on her husband, she's usually the "lying whore" even if her husband is the most abusive horrible human being. Meanwhile when a man cheats, people say it's all because of the "whore he slept with/homewrecker" and he usually gets off scot free. Just see Fatal Attraction, where the lying bastard Dan is treated like a good family man despite cheating on his wife, and he gets 0 blame or punishment for his actions while the clearly mentally ill woman he took advantage of and knocked up is the "evil slut". That's how society still can tend to view these things. Scrubs is one of the few times where they turned the "homewrecker" logic against a man.
@@om3ga109 We've seen it on-screen, twice: after Ben dies and she has her friends stay over and Cox realizes they were there because of how she was feeling about his death.
