How can you put rod and main bearing caps on and not torque them? Cylinder head bolts also need a specific torque sequence done to keep the head from warping. I'd love to know how long this engine will run after this rebuild.
Asian's and Pakistan's must have built in torque wrenches in their arms !!! And they all have that special container of solvent that cleans everything !
Don'tcha love how they seated the valves, polished the crankshaft bearing journals and honed the cylinders? Really high tech there!!!!! Gotta love the torque wrench on the main bearing cap bolts too.
I get it, work with what you have and make do. Not everyone has the nicest tools and spray wash cabinets, boring bars, and Sunnen hones. But in all the videos I see of these rebuilds in Asian countries and in the Pakistani Truck channel where they rebuilt engines too, it’s never one guy carefully assembling the engine. It’s always like 3 or more people just attacking it and putting it together as fast as possible. You spent the time to wash it all by hand and scrub it super clean, which I must commend you cause it appears like you did a good job. Hopefully you brushed all the oil galleys off camera to clean and clear them out 😉. Why not take a little time and let one man, your best and most knowledgeable man, do the assembly? Mistakes happen when you rush and 3 people can’t always know/remember what the other guy has or hasn’t done! For that matter, just to give a guy some space, heck the one guy was climbing up all under the dudes armpit to put a bolt in, 🤦♂️. That’s the one thing I have to have when I’m rebuilding engines, space and nobody yaping around me. I need to concentrate on the task at hand! But for the most part, you guys did a good job. You guys knew how to take it apart and put it back together, so I’m sure you know you should be torquing bolts to spec and doing other things “by the book”, but we also know as mechanics how to just “get it done, and make it run” with whatever we have on hand! 👍🏻
As somebody who used to grind crankshafts, I've seen many simply put back in, that in videos like this really needed to be taken down to the next size down. Many rebuilds look good in these videos, but these engines will fail again soon.
Interesting video. What about safty at work, safty for the inviroment and so on. They are washing the parts with gas or diesel with bare hands. They are washing the parts directly on the ground, oil is coming out of the engine and goes directly in the ground or the small river near by. Scary place.

Good bench procedure. Got everything nice and clean. Do these guys know about torque wrenches-??. With all the other tools and equipment I’d think they could afford a 3/4 drive torque wrench . One more point, always use connecting rod end cap bolts - protectors on rod bolts when disassembly and installing piston & rod assemblies., they are easy to make. Rubber fuel line hose works well, or wooden dowels with holes drilled in the ends. You bounce those rod bolts on the crankshaft you’ll ding and nick the crankshaft and that will cut into the rod bearings and a possible Rod bearings failure.
