Hi Nick. I can see the vote mark on your finger 👍and kudos to your efforts. I saw your last video on range dropping due to Hot summer and it was really great There are few contradictions, some findings and calculations, please correct if I'm wrong 1. I have XUV 400 with NMC chemistry and Blue sense app of Mahindra suggests charging the battery 100% each time. In fact it shows number of deviations if don't charged up to 100% which is a very harsh warning hence following the Mahindra guidelines. 2. One charge cycle is from 0%-100%-0% charge and that means if you charge from 50-100% that's 0.5 cycle not one full charge cycle in other words it doesn't matter the frequency of charging events 3. There is lot of google data suggests 20%-80% for good battery health but Mahindra suggests 100% each time, May be BMS is managing charging up to 90% or so but indicates 100% to user. I'm just assuming this 4. There is no way I can stop the charging at 80% because I plug it every second night and can't track or stop through app. How to manage charging up to specific percentage without any hassle 5. In one more study I found it's not the 100% SOC which degrade the battery but for how long you keep it at 100% and not using the car but that too was about 4 year old post on Nissan leaf 6. All current EV's have liquid cooling arrangements except few and smart BMS for overall battery health unlike previous generation EV cars like Nissan Leaf which has air cooled arrangement hence shouldn't be a problem to fully charge the vehicle and again I'm assuming 7. In real world NMC or LFP doesn't matter because 1500 charge cycle of NMC means 270X 1500=405000km and 2000 cycles of LFP means 270X2000=540000km. Both the chemistries will out last the age of the car and in the last all the companies are offering 8 years or 160000 kms peace of mind.
Finally, I have watched almost all your videos re nexon prime. I request you to keep on making such useful videos. I know it takes a lot of effort and really appreciate it.
How much capacity electricity meter (meter installed for electricity not ev meter)needed for ev A 1.5 ton AC consumes 1.5 kw How much kw does an ev of 24kwh battery pack consume?
Good question.. as long as you have upto 5ton or 7kw.. that’s the max capacity for AC single phase meter.. now it also depends on how many acts are you running 🏃 n your house.. 24 kw doesn’t mean you need 24 kw meter.. 3.3 kw ka charger hai to utna hi power lega. Not the battery but the charging adapter capacity
Hey bro! Quite an interesting and informative video. 👍 I am from delhi and nowadays temperature is almost above 41°C so my nexon ev charger is showing earthing lea∆k indicator when i plugged it in some connection where earthing has to be made manually. In company fitted chager there's no such issue. Although even with earthing leak indicator blinking it charges my car perfectly. Did you encounter any such instance yet ?
Hi, I am from Kathmandu Nepal. Thank you for such a detailed video on ev charging. I had owned Nexon ev prime for 1.5 years. Now I own Nexon ev max and also Mahindra e2o. I always struggled between the fact whether to charge to 80 or 100 % at home. According to owner's manual, my vehicles should be charged to 100% for proper calibration. But I was unaware that NMC and LFP calibrates differently. Thanks again for this insightful video on ev charging.
My travel is 100 kms daily..i charge 90% every third day ...shall I follow the same or follow 80 % and charge on every second day ..I drive Hyundai kona ..i charge from 7kw home charger only
I think with regard to charge cycle, you r wrong bro, if you charge it to 100% then discharge it to say 50% then it is calculated at 0.5 cycle not 1 cycle. Also according to the battery university, small charge and small discharge is good for the battery, it puts less stress on the battery. With regard to LFP batteries, you can charge it to 90% daily and charge it to 100% once every 6-8 days or charge cycle.
A charge cycle means that the full capacity of the battery is used from full to empty, and then from empty to full, not equal to one charge. For example, a lithium battery consumes only half of its power on the first day, and then is fully charged. If the situation persists the next day, that is, charge with half of the battery, and charge it twice in total. This will only count as one charge cycle, not twice. Found this on internet.
I hve nexon max ,, now i charge from 20-80% take abrake for half hr then again charge for 100% ,, cz i replaced my charger due to its last 2 lights wear blinking n got heated ,, to avoid charger heating i am doing this ,, any suggestions!!
Your nexon ev prime has 30 kilowatt battery and my tata tiago ev LR version has a 24 kilowatt battery. Now my question is how much is the usable battery? Someone one told me that the ptime has a usable battery of 28 kilowatt and the tiago ev of 22 kilowatt. So if this is true then even if you bring the car to 0 % then the car is actually 7-8 % and also if u charge too 100% then you actually charging the car to about 95-96%. This is done purposely to protect the battery pack by the company.
