- After recently replaying all the older #supersmashbros games, I started to notice a huge dip in quality across one very specific aspect, and today I'm covering why one of the best parts of the series is slowly going down the drain.

As much as I appreciate Sakurai and his team for putting an adventure mode in Ultimate at ALL, I wished it would’ve been more polished like what Melee did with you actually exploring the many different worlds Smash Bros has to offer with the insane amount of IPs joining together in one game. Like imagine if there was a world based on Punch Out, or Final Fantasy 7, or exploring the worlds of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2, the iconic PAC-MAZE, exploring Bowser’s Castle, even some of the DLC worlds like exploring to the depths of Mementos from Persona 5/Royal and fighting the Reaper at the end, walking around Spiral Mountain, fighting your way through Garrag Monastery, going through the Minecraft World to the Nether and The End or even properly exploring Hollow Bastion from Kingdom Hearts. It would’ve felt like a spiritual successor to Subspace while still keeping the spirit battles and the Character Battles being on exclusive arenas made for that character instead of the usual stages we can select from in Ultimate.
It's a crime we haven't had anything like SSE since Brawl. Smash Run was hella fun tho.
Subspace emmisary truly took me by suprise back in the day
I absolutely love smash. I always have since the day I first played Brawl. Subspace was a huge part of my childhood and it introduced me to so many characters I'd never seen before. And when I heard about Smash 4 coming out, I was so excited to have another experience like that. Obviously that wasn't the case, and resulted in me only really ever playing smash 4 once ultimate was announced and my smash hype was back in full force. Then with Ultimate, and world of light being announced, I was so, so happy. Finally we'd get a new smash story mode, with more potential than ever. And I'll admit... I had fun with World of Light at launch. I was just happy to have a big single player smash mode again. But yeah... it's massively dissapointing and it sucks that it all exists elsewhere in the game outside the Galeem and Dharkon fights. As for the other modes, Smash run not returning is a tragedy, and smash tour is anything but a worthy replacement. I can't speak for the others since I've only played Brawl onwards, but overall I hope we're able to see more smash, and more single player storytelling from smash in the future.
Brawl had the most and best content. Arguably some of the better voice actors for characters as well. Definitely my favorite smash game by far. - Don
I also prefer 3ds to Wii U, and Smash Run was good. My favorite modes are def break targets and event matches. Break targets was like an arcade game, completely skill based and replayable - I’d take it over any of the later adventure modes. This made me think of Paper Plane in Warioware, which I fell in love with
What happened to Skythe?
Still the same person! The channels just been rebranded. I made an update video about it in late 2022
Thanks, I watched some of your videos about the Sonic Racing trilogy and was confused why the name of the person was Skythe, but the name of the channel is AstralKat.
