    This is a fantastic video. I watched once, took notes on all the steps, practiced a few times and have now managed to string together more double unders in a row than I ever have before. Cadence and hand position turned out to be the issues for me.

    There are tons of videos trying to teach double unders all over the web but this video has the most useful information and tips. Keep up the good work you’re doing great!

  • @Jais271
    @Jais271 7 років тому +30

    1.ALIGNED: Keep body aligned when jumping.
    2. CADENCE: Double under cadence will be slower than singles.
    3. COORDINATION: Tap hands twice on thighs while jumping
    4. Keep arms relaxed. Hands in peripheral (don't get wide; Set up 2 boxes if necessary; can also put bands under armpits)

      I tried implementing some of these principles and it’s helpful - specifically keeping my hands out of airplane mode and double tapping!

    Hey, I must say....very good couching. I've been a trainer for 17 years so I know the difference. Very good attention to detail. You pointed out many technical points and methods that many other jump rope coaches fail to mention. I haven't seen that level of attention to detail when learning the double under. Thanks for your insight.

      I didn't realize I had the same issue until I watched this video. I do my single unders really fast. I need to just practice the slower jumps and doing the double hand taps until it becomes second nature. Then I'll add the rope in :)

    These steps make it seem very doable for someone who has never managed to do double unders. I bought a good skipping rope months ago but didn't know where to start with double unders so this really gives me a great step by step manageable process to follow to do double unders. Thanks for that.

    Hey guys, great vid! Thanks for posting. My problem is I'm stuck at 50 DU. I do a good bit of other metabolic work so I don't think wind is a problem but my arms start feeling heavy and my form, (i.e., arms), get hard to control as I approach 50. So I get there but getting beyond is a problem. How can I build more capacity in terms of volume? Thanks.

    First of all, let me say thanks for this amazing channel! Really nice work, i salute you! I have an honest question. I am new to crossfit, i can't do DU, i can do singles. I want to start learning, but my question is: Why DU are better than singles? I want to learn DU anyway, but i would like to know: Are DUs just a different exercise that works different things, or is it an improvement of SUs?
    For instance, when we have a WOD that says 40 DUs or 80 SUs, are the 40 DUs gona benefit me more, or is it just.... a different thing with different pros and cons?

    How long should the rope be? Can you show where the handles should come up to?

    • @structureyourstrength8224
      @structureyourstrength8224  4 роки тому

      The longer the rope, the more forgiving it is on mistakes or bad positions, in general. We usually try to get the rope to a length that allows the end of the handles to be at armpit height while standing on it with both feet.

    When starting a set of double unders, do you start immediately doing double unders from the get go or can I do one single and then go into double unders after the first rep? Does that make sense?

    • @structureyourstrength8224
      @structureyourstrength8224  4 роки тому

      It depends on your skill level. If you are new to double-unders, it is perfectly fine to do 2-3 singles to get your rhythm before starting doubles.
